    I wasn’t expecting too much from it when I bought my first bottle, but after trying it several times and really enjoying its profile, it definitely has a permanent place on my shelf, especially at the price point. Cheers Jason!🥃

    You can find these bottles for 20-23$ here in KY now and man is it a deal at that price. This is leaps of flavor and nose over standard Jim beam and for 7$ more it is more than worth it. Between this and Jim beam black, it's hard to jump to that 35-40 mark for Elijah Craig, knob creek when for a good amount less you can get a solid single barrel.

  • @Von_Fishman

    Hey Jason, thanks for the WOTSW as always! Given general inflation, the explosion of bourbon prices, and all the LE/allocation, it is great to see Jim Beam raising the proof and not the price on this whiskey. Also thank you for the honesty and not overly hyping it, I haven't tried it but am looking forward to. I hope they have a store pick program for these. I am really missing the days I could get Knob Creek SiB at 14 years old and 120 proof for 50$, but I think a 6-8 year old version of this for 30-35 could be a great option in the current market.

    I bought a bottle a while back and really wanted to like it. I gave it several opportunities, but never warmed up to it . I like knob creek 9 and OGD 114 much better , for a $30 bottle.

    Great review! I bought this bottle at a store in Louisville for $27. I enjoyed it for what it is. I didn’t have high expectations going into it and it met what I was thinking I was getting. I really enjoy Bakers and I’d probably pay the extra money for it. Cheers

    After loving JB Black, I finally tried this and loved it too! I think around $35. From memory, I liked it more than Knob Creek. Even with the higher proof, I feel this doesn't have the edge around it that KCs have had. $35 might be a little high when JB Black is $22, but I'd definitely consider picking up another.

    I found a store near me in South Carolina selling these on sale for $18. I picked up 4 bottle and deliberately got bottles from 4 different barrels to see how they would differ.
    None of them are bad, and a couple really punch way above their retail price point. $18 is the most absurd steal for quality high proof whiskey I've ever seen. Not the most complex whiskey but it's all about the value.

    I blinded this against Bookers (2021-03), OGD 114, and Bakers. Bookers was the clear winner, but this JB SIB 108 came in an easy 2nd. Was quite pleased and I guess could be a poor man’s Bookers, but it’s clearly a step (or two) below. OGD114 came in 3rd. Nice video.

    • @rebellaxbro
      @rebellaxbro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What made you like OGD 114 over bakers?

    • @msa4998
      @msa4998 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rebellaxbro on the blind, the Bakers came off a bit flat. I like Bakers …. but possibly in this blind it could have been affected by the order of the tastes as randomly it came after Bookers and OGD so possibly those proofier pours overwhelmed it. The Beam SiB had a more classic profile I thought and helped it stand out. As for OGD114, it’s obs not quite as refined, but that extra proof and a spicier profile helped it over Bakers. Bakers is good no doubt and it was close between it and OGD114.

    • @kevinmathis1278
      @kevinmathis1278 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rebellaxbro Bakers is also a Single Barrel bottling. I personally love Bakers but have had bottles all over the place. There were a couple that were so "off profile" that I wouldn't even have known it was Bakers if I hadn't cracked the seal myself.

    • @100puremustard5
      @100puremustard5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Crazy.
      The Bakers 7 SiB I have blows away OGD 114. Richer and more complex. Unless you just like a mouth full of cinnamon and Red-Hots.

    • @msa4998
      @msa4998 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@100puremustard5 For me, they finished 3rd and 4th in a 4 glass blind. As I said, Baker’s is good, but its position in the blind may have hurt it against the OGD and the JB SiB. Booker’s (2021-3)…a decent to mediocre batch as Booker’s batches go, easily won.

    I don't drink a lot of bourbon and I didn't get try the original, lower proof version of this, but I am IN LOVE with this one. I paid $42 at Total Wine, which...isn't bad, but I'd buy this all day long at maybe $35. The proof, the notes, the palate, and especially the heat on this, to me, are just perfect. I really do want more of this, but I'm curious, is there anything comparable that is cheaper with the same heat and profile?

    Although it is possible that mine came from a 'bad' barrel, the one bottle of JB SiB that I bought tasted like regret to me. I thought it would taste like Old Tub - which I really enjoy - just turned up a notch to 108. But instead I got a note that I associate with corn-based whiskeys that have been aged in used bourbon barrels (the cheapest of the cheap Kentucky whiskeys) - it is like a combination of plastic and Twizzler, or a cheap Twizzler knock-off. I find it distractingly unpleasant on my palate, but if not for that one note I'd probably like it fine. I'm usually pretty happy with most Jim Beam products.
