Went on it yesterday with my 7 year old. We were lucky enough to be at the front. The video doesn’t do this ride justice. It’s sooo fast and totally epic. Had my hands on the air the whole time and loved it! It was my daughter’s first rollercoaster and I couldn’t have been a more proud dad to be on there with her.

@@DARK_AMBIGUOUS I don't think you appreciate the feat of engineering it takes to get that kind of speed out of a rollercoaster that can't be built above the tree line. At Alton Towers, the designers have always been restricted to keeping the tracks below tree height (for various environmental reasons). They don't have the ability to build massive lift hills and simply drop the coaster so that it picks up a huge amount of speed.
Anyone with a fear of rollercoasters: this is the PERFECT ride. It shows you quickly how much fun coasters are. And it shows you how you aren't in control of them (the thing most people fear) with relentless speed, but it isn't over the top or too intense. It is a great coaster and gets better the more you ride it
Definitely the best ride I’ve ever been on out of several countries. It feels 3x faster than it looks on video, each of what look like little bumps have stomach drops, the music is pounding and goes right through you. It’s incredible.
It was my first ride when I went last week. First proper coaster in well over a decade, and I was NOT disappointed. It felt so, so quick. I mean, I loved The Smiler and I'll always have a real soft spot for Nemesis, but this was without doubt my favourite ride.

Mind you, I was on my own so was literally hopping on and off Thr Smiler with their single rider queue. Not always easy to do with groups, I know, but if you can do it term time...do. you'll get decent value for it.
Went to Alton Towers for the first time earlier this year and out of the rides I went on, this was probably my favourite. It feels so fast when you're on it and it's just a lot of fun. Even as someone who's terrified of most roller coasters (I only went on this, Runaway Mine Train and Th13teen and chickened out of Galactica) I ended up loving it.

I am a 13 year old that just rode the ride today. It's my second roller coaster ride in my life, and this thing looks not so fast. But when you go on the ride, totally different story. The turns are pretty sharp and the speed literally is almost at top speed for the whole ride. So much fun though, I absolutely love and enjoyed the experience.
rode this for the first time on sunday and i think it's going in my top faves. Knew about the ride but i didn't expect the pre show and was blown away !! theming and attention to detail at AT feels amazing

I'm 9 and this was my first roller coaster Also ppl who don't like stomach drops just lean the opposite way it helps :) and if u put the speed to 1.75 thats how fast it feels like when you go on it this was my favourite ride in alton towers Also the one that gives most stomach drops in my opinion is dablade ,nemesis and oblivion when they go down
I know some people may think this ride isn't too intense when looking at it or because its a woody thinking it may be a good starter roller coaster for those who haven't been on a big one before. Let me say just because its a woody doesn't mean this coaster is tame. In fact this is one of the most intense coasters i've ever been on and has got to be one of the most intense woodies in the world! This thing feels SOOOO fast and intense when you are actually on it especially when its warmed up later in the day. I believe it to be the 3rd most intense coaster in the whole park only being behind Nemesis and Smiler. That being said this roller coaster is DEFINETLY NOT for beginners, there are other coasters in the park that are beginner friendly this is NOT one of them, but man it is so much fun especially at night!
Went on near the end of the afternoon at Scarefest and I was surprised how fast it felt and how rough some of the turns were. The 'big' coasters felt a lot gentler!
I remember watching a wicker man pov video not long after it came out, this was about 1 month before I went to Alton towers for scarefest, and thinking “wow! This doesn’t look to bad, rather slow actually.” That your wrong. This is such a fun ride but don’t underestimate it’s speed.

Wicker man is amazing the pre show and everything is absolutely spot on I went on it twice the last time I was at towers in April one thing IT IS WAY FASTER THAN IT LOOKS AND I MEAN THAT HONES THE FIRST TIME I WENT ON IT I DID NOT ENJOY IT AT ALL but once you are used to it it’s such a great time
This is the first big coaster I've ever been on and I'm happy to say I kept my eyes open the entire time! LOL, I did nemesis reborn, galactica, Rita, 13 etc after
@@otorisamaa Minetrain > Galactica > Wickerman > Spinball > Th13teen > Oblivion > Rita > Smiler That'd be my order (not including Nemesis obviously). Only reason I would put Spinball later is because some people are sensitive to spinning, whereas Galactica is pretty relaxed once you're over the unusual riding position.
Wickerman is quite intense actually! You're closer than you think I don't know what coasters you have access to besides alton, so I'd say you should try galactica as it's not too intense, then honestly just go on the smiler (don't be tempted to try nemesis reborn first, that ride is extremely intense). After that you should be ok to do other rides. Stealth at thorpe would be another good training coaster
I wish some parts were changed. Like the un banked turn before making your 3rd and final intertwine with big bob. They could have made that a 90° banked turn. Also, they could have had the exit prior to the station so when the empty trains come in its like you have actually been sacrificed to the Wickerman. Apart from that tho i rlly think its a good solid ride. ❤
I took my daughter in wicker . I thought it’s very easy to ride as my daughter scared of the rides but 😂😂😂 it was so fast . I was trying to keep my daughter awake and comforting her 😂😂 poor her even couldn’t scream 😅
This ride is terrific. To all the people who think it’s ’super fast’ or ‘super scary’ it’s really not. I just went on it and it’s only a couple little drops. Your tummy goes a little but not a lot. Overall this ride is amazing and definitely not that scary. For those who are wondering, before you go on the ride, there is a little bit you go in and there is a screen and it shows you the story of the wicker man and it’s dark. 🎉😊
Deffo in my top 3 alton towers rides ...doesn't look much untill you actually get on it ,it's a different ball game then it is rapid, coupled with the bit leading up to getting on the ride the hologram etc it's all in all a cracking ride
Wickerman is so fast I always watched this pov thinking it wasn’t that bad went on today and screamed so much I was not expecting it I couldn’t even tell what was happening and at one point felt like I was gonna fly out my seat 😭 found it scarier than galactica lol
It’s new, basically at the end there’s a wall and it’s a ghost like figure similar to thirteen we were stuck there for like 3 minutes and creepy music played and I thought we would drop but it was fine it just made us go forward again and the wall opened revealing the station

You know, I see a similarly with this and InvadR at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, with the same company building them, the tunnel before the drop, and the overall experience! The theming is somewhat similar, but InvadR is about Vikings, while WM is about sacrificing. Also, InvadR has a larger drop! ( Sorry about the paragraph lol )
I’m terrified of rollercoasters. I have been for years, but being on this and throwing my arms in the air seriously made my trip to Towers amazing. It being scary is what makes rollercoasters fun! There’s no harm in trying! If you don’t like it, don’t do it again, if you do, what’s stopping you from doing more?! But personally, I’d recommend doing Thirteen first.
of all the rides at alton towers, the seats on this coaster are unbelievably small. so small infact that the lapbar literally didnt even fit over me and i couldnt ride it :( (weird bc i can ride literally everything else in the park) waited a whole hour in blistering heat just to go to a wee gift shop

Was always an oblivion fan, but after going on this over the last two days, Wicker man has gone to number one. Videos can’t get across how fast it is.
I have actually never seen wicker man run this slow. This must be like the first ride of the day.

I love the storyline behind it as well as the inter active part right before the ride (no spoilers) [this was also my first ride at Alton towers]

When I went on this I was screaming “THIS IS WORSE THAN RITA” I didn’t realise how fast it went! But end of the day I love it

Went on it for the fifth time yesterday- the Long queues are worth it trust me!
Parent before I take them on wicker man : oh it’s only a kiddie rollercoaster . Parents after : NO NEVER AGAIN

The wicker man was the very first rollercoaster in my whole life. I must say, it was rather breathtaking

It is likely that children are riding the longest wood coaster
of all the rides at alton towers, the seats on this coaster are unbelievably small.
so small infact that the lapbar literally didnt even fit over me and i couldnt ride it :( (weird bc i can ride literally everything else in the park)
waited a whole hour in blistering heat just to go to a wee gift shop

There was a girl sitting behind me on this ride screaming so loud the whole way round i was in hysterics
This was my first rollercoaster yesterday absolutely crapped my self on the image I had the most distraught face ever
