    I think one aesthetic workaround for the tech modules is to have them bundled as a wing of the station separated from the boron style modules and only connected by one bridge.

    i like that they are intentionally leaving a role for the player to fill, one that drives you interacting with the overall metagame and gets people involved in the coolest parts of the game. you dont really get to enjoy the fleet mechanics until you figure out station building to start printing money

    I have a feeling that the aesthetic parts may be resolved in a future update. I recall that Egosoft is planning on keeping X4 going for a fair bit longer so if there are a few more DLCs coming, the free updates could address a few of these. We also still have Terracorp to make a return and there are a few more gates to reconnect to. If I remember correctly, the scientific faction that's between the Terrans and the Antigone has at least one inactive jump gate and that could be a good spot to put Terracorp. It would be interesting to see if they resume the war between the Argon and Terran there or it could be an awesome chance for an end-game mogul to take over a struggling Terracorp. I'd make it so that the core sector for them is all they have and there are only derelict stations and ships in the sectors between. The player would then have to rebuild and then potentially go to war with the Terrans themselves in order to expand. I've only just gotten the new DLC so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

    • @Mikalent
      @Mikalent ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Two things I would REALLY love to see them add or expand upon that would make X4 a bit more "sandboxy(?)" Would be expanded faction diplomacy, and expanded empire building.
      Right now, the game starts with 2 ongoing wars, the ever present Xenon Wars, and the Paranid civil war/Holy Order-Argon war. With the Kha'ak raids, those are the only things taking resources out of the game. You have the ability to start the Terran-Argon war, the Split Civil War, and add Duke's to the Paranid Civil War, or you can choose to end the Paranid Civil War/Holy Order-Argon war. So it means by mid game, you could potentially have only the Xenon Wars and Kha'ak raids, or if you went full psycho, you could have 2 minor wars, and the Paranid Civil War with Duke (the Terran-Argon war tends to be short lived, Terrans get pushed back to Sol and sit there, Argon never seem to push into Sol, and Split Civil war is a stomp either way depending if the Patriarchy holds their only resource sector or not. If they do, Curbs get stomped, if they lose it to the Xenon (more common) the Patriarchy gets stomped).
      Having a way for other races to start trade wars, more common/larger raids, or even occasional border skirmishes would add a lot to the universe. You could even scale it based on border adjacency and the races aggression from lore, IE conflicts with the Split are more common but tend to be lower intensity raids, Teladi physical conflicts outside of trade wars and embargoes being significantly rarer, Terrans being highly territorial of the Sol Sector and sectors immediately adjacent to Sol, etc.
      Just a way for the player to capitalize on the economy and these small battles.
      The other would be expanded player empire building. Outright owning sectors right now doesn't do much for the player, in fact, because the AI will actively avoid patrolling sectors you own, owning a sector yourself actually makes you more vulnerable to pirates and the Kha'ak than you otherwise would be. Add in that your empire/corporation's only way to interact with another faction is to declare war, something that can not be undone once you do it, it is really lackluster.
      A DLC storyline that has you actually formally establish your Company, then alter it's character and reputation through a series of exclusive missions similar to the Boron's "Royal Heralds" storyline. Chosing smuggling missions will earn your corporation a reputation of being low life smugglers, able to get anything to a client, but more at risk of police scans, would lock you from missions where your corporation would sell policing/sector patrol services. Taking contracts for station/ship building would lean your corporation towards being an industrial Juggernaut, but slowly reduce your reputation as a Mercenary company, ect.

    • @Dark_Lord_Mr_B
      @Dark_Lord_Mr_B ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mikalent That would be interesting. I can see the potential for factions to demand sectors back or for wheeling and dealing to go on in order to get concessions in a political or economic sense for the faction of your choice.
      I'd also bring back the stock market mechanic but limit it to maybe the Teladi only and maaaaaaybe the Argon. It should be made so that returns are dependent on how the "companies" do or even each sector. We could also register our own faction on there to gather capital for larger projects. That part could be a late mid to early end-game mechanic though so that we don't inadvertently make ourselves into a god mode faction.

    I find it interesting that prior to knowing about this DLC I had taken over Heretics end and worked to build up massive water refineries in Wretched skies and Family Kritt. Now to see your video I feel like I am going to be in a great position when I can actually have time to try out this dlc.

    The problem I started noticing is that all factories that build any thing is a sub component of ships and only ships. There is no other markets except for building ships and station.
    There needs to be comsumer goods and other stuff everyone needs. Yea, illegal to sell food and water??? How does anyone eat? There got to be other goods X4 can buy and sell.
    Example would be consumer good from argon, or Talitie (can't spell) can be sold at other station that is not related. I don't know but not everything in the ecomony needs to revolve around ship building and illegal stuff.

    to be honest its also in their history why some of the parts look like boron, its even implemented in the ships itselfs so i am fine with that. It was also like this since x1, they always were reliant on argon technology. Without argons, they would still be turtled by the splits without any chance to push back, i really like they used this bit of history of this two races to make borons work in x4

      I agree, I also found it always strange that all the Factions in Commonwealth Space, even those officially not part of it like SCA, HOP and the two Split Factions, use the same Docking Module (except Teladis and their Huge Trade Stations).
      I'm glad they went away from that approach with the Terrans and now the Boron too and I hope they rework the docking modules, traders and environments, that are general, so they fit the asthetics of their overall faction.
      Like the Paranid, who revere the number 3 and everything, that is somehow divisible by 3, shouldn't have 10 docking slots but 9 for S ships and their Docking Module should be something, that screams "Holy Trigonometry" at you immediately when you see it.
      Teladi Docking Modules could be orientated around their dome style of station modules, like they'd look similar to Terran S/M-Docking Modules, but with a Teladi Touch, looking swamp like on the inside with the fauna present and immediately making clear, that this is a Teladi Station.
      It is easy to ask but also easy to forget that this design stuff is a huge amount of work, so it will take some time, but I'd find it really cool if they maybe squeeze in one older race specific redesign once ina while with this or that new expansion coming, like they e.g. reworked the Paranid Capital Ships.

    • @MagiconIce
      @MagiconIce ปีที่แล้ว

      PS: I also find it lacking that Boron Space Stations, instead of having a Water Environment where you would float around in, making them feel at home (Boron could traverse in it without a for them constraining suit, Non-Boron would require a diving suit), the Boron instead travel around in "Water suits" and the other races get to walk around freely within the Boron Stations.
      Usually a race designs space stations to fit first and foremost their daily needs, not the daily needs of other races.

    The fun thing about what Egosoft didn't do (make each race utterly unique looking - with certain production modules being the same across the Commonwealth races) Modders! Enter the Modders! I bet that - not to long to wait - for there to be Split and Boron and Paranid, etc, versions of these "shared modules". Argon will likely remain as is, assuming that they are the ones who made them look that way in the first place. Just need to create four different versions of all "shared modules" for the other four races.
    Terrans, of course... well, we're the odd ones here having everything be completely unique across the board. (and yes - my main char is always Terran. I do play all other "starts", to keep things fresh, or to change up my playstyle, etc - but my main is a Terran and he's the "Captain Kirk" of the X Universe, helping end wars, beat the Xenon, the ultimate goodie-two-shoes)

    ive got 2 rattlesnakes now. i dont trust the AI pilot to fly it. so i switch between the two of them, when i take enough damage to warrant repairs. ive killed maybe 30 battleships now. 10 defence stations, and they are just increasing in intensity. is this normal?

    I don't see the addition as very organic mostly because the amount of care taken in creating the Boron ships and parts is leaps and bounds superior to the rest of the game, Egosoft improved over the years and it shows in a sort of jarring way when you move between interiors and exteriors, Boron Space and "normal" Space.
    At least for the Borons, they could've made new assets for say the transporter, the trader station and the workshop/ship vendor, the production modules it's perfectly fine as they are.

    Speak for yourself. 🙂 I for one would love every station module and connector to have faction specific designs. It's one of my major gripes about the game.

      agreed. I'm not saying it would be easy, but they should have different module skins for the factions that have been separated for extended periods of time. They might do the exact same function as the others, but there is no reason they should look exactly the same.

    I do not agree about the station parts not fitting with the Boron theme is fine.
    If you are making a DLC for a new faction, you NEED to make new designs for them!
    Not doing that is lazy and then asking money for it is real shady.
    I do not know of any other game that has factions that did not make new stuff when they add a new one.

      While it would be nice to have I would never call Egosoft lazy. If anything they showed multiple times they support their games for a very long time after release. Even X3 got free DLC 10 years after release and was updated in that period of time. What is lazy is making game, release buggy mess, take money, maybe few DLCs and 2 to 3 years later after abandon it. That not how Egosoft works but majority of lazy developers.

      Egosoft is a small company with a niche game. Unfortunately they can't afford everything they want to do. But they definitely try their best. It's like with the builder, until this version all races had exactly the same. Saved a lot fo ship design manpower for something that is merely nice to have but doesn't change anything in the game mechanics.

    Poor Argon architecture looks so dated now with all the DLC that have been released.

    Id rather pay fair amounts of money for an optimized game that runs over 60fps than 5 dlc‘s with the same shitty and buggy performance/engine on rigs that are 5 years apart. So no. Egosoft is being greedy and not distributing resources in the right departments. -points for you cpt.

    Maybe the Terrans being the ice man might make their stations more worth using, if they're trading with Borons.
