To me, that is the best fight this series. Also Kagero VS Royal Paladin brings back memories.
I have also been a big fan of Kagero, especially the Overlord cards.

I don't know if you guys noticed, Kai got a trigger literally every drive check.
Nope, the time he attack with the Legend first he only gets 1 trigger, then after it restand and attack, their were no triggers after that even we didn't see what his drive check was

When The Legend becomes a grade 4, Chrono be like "For real?" However, that is everyone's reaction, both in the anime and the viewers, when they see him draw a triple critical in his drive check! XD
Lol, I understand it was for plot, but wow, I was like watching classic Kai. That beastly annihilation of rearguards in mere moments....... Almost makes want to cry. Good memories
That was one of the best fights so far, Shion's closing matches seem to be the most intense out the three. Shion may have won the round but in no way did Kai seem any less powerful than before, I miss the intensity Overlord brings to a cardfight.

Honestly I am perfectly fine with Shion winning. I feel as though he is the only one who deserves to win as he is the only one who had an arc and grew as a character. So I'm fine with the episode. Still sucks to see Kai lose though.

Chrono couldn’t defeat Kamui in a serious matchup for the length of 2 seasons until next episode despite his improvement. And Tokoha had to develop her skills to defeat Misaki in a serious fight after losing to her already

AnimeTechnoBlade 100 misaki’s fight had an obvious misplay that shouldn’t have happen, where she placed all 3 crit on silent tom when tokoha was already at 4 dmg if she even gave her other rear guard 1 of the crit she would’ve won, unless tokoha gets a double heal
Xin Chen How is that a misplay? Misaki was clearly counting on Toms ability to negate grade 0s from being used to guard to weaken Tokohas defense. I’m failing to see how that was a bad choice of Tokoha didn’t use her G guard

The eternal struggle of clans that get rid of units and clans that Superior Call units. Seeing the legend deck cards in action was pretty cool. Royal Paladin's G-Guardian seems solid, though if Kai had just a bit more retire power it wouldn't have worked as well. Still don't know if there's a Generation Break cost to use them of if discarding a heal trigger is the only cost.
And it was Ratie who went to meet up with Aichi. Nice to see the Legion Mate characters still existing.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the G era. And Shion's arc is one of the best story arcs I have ever seen. Great story. I miss this era.

It wasn't actually just plot (the crit check probably), it is also the strat how shion fought. Filling all rearguards in third turn, G unit flip different card to wage, and unexpected calling a Sentinel on (RC). It's seldom to find a fight without winning through crit, like the fight between Ibuki and Chrono on the 1 season on G

When I see Shion episodes I can't help but feel that he could have been the MC all of G and not as many would be turned off by the series. I also don't see why so many upset that Shion won once out of countless times against Kai. I also don't really know why, but G just doesn't have the charm the OG series had. It may be becuase of the pacing and character development of G season 1 was all over the place. I am loving girs crisis though as it feels focused. More than anything I hope stride gate will continue this more focused story telling, and expand character development to the supporting cast as there is a lot to make up after G's first season. Also explain all the darn subplots!

Kai went easy just like misaki they new try3 didn't stand a chance so they just went as far as to see how strong they are now otherwise it would of been a lot more 1 sided and q4 would win

Wow, that fight was even worse than I thought. Shion had 5 critical triggers are you serious! It seems like expecting a decent story or fight from the G series was just too much. Anyways I'm now officialy done with Vanguard G, it's an insult to the original series. I might watch when Aichi shows up but I'll probably get disappointed then too. Well I guess this is a good time to rewatch the original series. =D
+SegaSonicStuff I mean Kai is supposed to be the strongest cardfighter there is, he travelled around the world multiple times to get stronger, he used at least 4 different clans etc etc. It took Aichi three seasons to defeat him and that win felt genuine because he trained and fought other really strong fighters to get there. And most important he LOST when he needed to know where his weaknesses were. This is something that just doesnt (or rarely) happens to G characters, which makes fights fake and boring.
+Tim Huynh Considering the person who does the writing for Cardfight Gs' track record, I'm not surprised. She's the one who did the writing for Beyblade metal saga. Plot armor seems to be something she can never avoid in her story telling.
+SegaSonicStuff To be fair, Kai kicked Shion's ass a lot off screen. In fact, Shion's development is the only thing G has going for it. And seeing what the outcome with Myojin will be.
It didn't even need to be critical triggers - Kai was at 5 damage, any 2 triggers would have done. The 5 critical was more dramatic flair than anything.
+Superhero18 Aichi never won against Ren again after season 1. Misaki never got a chance to make up her lose to Asaka in season 2. Naoki was treated really badly in season 4 with losing almost all his fights and one of his wins was against a opponent who let him. I don't see how because Shion lost a lot against Kai before, he had to win here. The reasoning is flawed. G has destroyed all sense of balance the original series set up.
Watching this and realising the legend deck comes out at the end of the month has me thinking, moving undeax and conroe being a grade 1 just feels so unnatural

I honestly don’t know why kai changed his perfect guard to aermo. In ep 6, he used protect orb dragon that could counter charge or soulcharge againts shion.
If you think about it, kai don't have heal trig for g-guard and don't have units with blaze for extra combo and barely lost because of triple trigger. Basically, they nerf him so shion can win for plot because we all know that kai is too OP
