8:54 When you are out running around and not wanting to solve shrine puzzless, be sure to walk up to the pedestal and "activate" the shrine's pedestal. If you don't, it will not be a fast travel point. You don't need to enter the shrine, just remember to "activate" it before you run off
4:37 One Hit Kill, super important. I never follow well- worn trails ... look at your mini map and think about traveling alongside a path - you'll be surprised less often by enemies lying in wait for a traveler to pass by, and you can sometimes kill them without them even knowing you are there
I wish I'd had this advice when I got the game a couple years ago! One thing I'd add is using pot lids and wooden shields to catch arrows from those 2 Bokoblins by the tower. Once the ones you're sidestepping stop spawning, you can start using the shield or pot lid to catch arrows. At least until the shield or potlid breaks. I didn't realize just running away and coming back would make the arrows they fire that you can pick up off the ground start respawning again, that's helpful! There's Endura mushrooms around the old man's cabin and in that general area, I believe this is the only place they're found on the Great Plateau. 5 of them make a great stamina potion. Since I grab a horse right after jumping off the GP, it comes in handy for taming it so I can head for Satori Mountain. So many goodies up there! I really enjoy your videos because you sound like someone I'd know because of your accent and you seem closer to my age. Most of the women doing game videos are maybe 20 and it makes me feel so old and like maybe I shouldn't still be playing videos games. Hearing a woman who sounds close to my age is wonderful! It's a feeling like hey, I'm not the only one who's my age still playing. The way you explain things is very relatable since not all of us are experts at the different ways to play. Keep up the good work!
Good tips thank you! And yes, I am older some of them already call me mom lol that’s OK because I am old enough to be their mother and then some 🤣🤣…I just try to explain things I guess the way that I can understand them… I have played video games since I was little off and on, grew up on the original the legend of Zelda, but that was so long ago. I barely remember it.🤣… but when I played breath of the wild, I fell in love with it… and I think it is just so appealing to different ages because there is really no one way to play this game. If you just want to go around collecting things you can if you want to go around fighting things you can do that too. It’s just amazing the freedom the game gives you… and I don’t think we will ever be too old to play video games. It helps with a hand and eye coordination that could be therapy for us as we get older 🤣🤣… thank you so much for the support and thank you for watching!💞
Very well said! I’ve felt the same way too. It’s wonderful to discover there are other women past a certain age who enjoy video games. I just started playing a couple of years ago when I retired. I saw an advertisement for BOTW and was instantly smitten by it, so I bought a Switch. Needless to say I’m not very good 😅, but so what, playing games is fun. And I’m learning so much from this channel - it’s terrific!.
Three of the rusty , dead guardians are sitting in water. If you use cryonis underneath them, you can push them up fully or slightly tilt them and more guardian parts will pop out the bottom. I got lucky once with an ancient core drop.
I don't know if it's because I'm a kid or that you sound like one of my favorite teachers in school, but I always feel welcome and comfortable while I watch your videos, thank you 🥰🥰
I'm getting back into this game after being away for 3 years, and I couldn't remember how anything worked since I'm 100 hours in and didn't want to start over lol. This is one of the best explained videos of the beginning game mechanics I've come across! I'm binge watching all your content now, and finally getting the hang of the game again. Thanks so much for all the fantastic explanation videos, keep up the great work!
5:35 at the beginning you can get "pot lids", which you can use as a shield. Arrows shot at you can stick in your wooden shields, and when you put the shield away those arrows will go into your inventory, but remember no weapons in this game lasts for long. You can also run around and pick up arrows that miss you at the same time. Some enemies are lousy shots !
10:20 Round bombs thrown at enemies can roll toward them, or they can roll back at you - be aware of the topography ! Your gems will roll down cliffs or into water or lava if you are not careful. This took me a long time to figure out, but you only need to break the rock, so try putting bombs a short distance away from the rocks ... start out at 2 or 3 times Link's height (put the bomb that far away from the rock) . You can always place it closer next time, but you can't always get the gems that fly off ! Also think about which direction the blast will send the gems based on where you place your explosives
Great point about the gems and bombs! I've lost some good loot and have taken to using the drill shaft you find behind a bomb-able wall up where the Gorons live... it's really efficient, but you have to change your clothes to flame resistant and slog up there. It does re-spawn tho. Thanks WTF for the best and most uplifting tutorials! I'm late to BotW, playing on my dusty Wii U and considering a Switch so I can play TotK, but Nintendo will probably replace the Switch before I ever finish BotW. 😅 Tho my chances are better with you around!!!
BTW I'm granny age, that doesn't help... my sis and I had an original Pong when we were around 10 years old. And I've loved video games ever since (surprisingly she doesn't tho, older sister syndrome I guess.) Cheers again!
OMG. .I've been playing this game for a while and did not know if you blow up a tree a second time you get wood. I was blowing them up once and collecting food.
Hi Sherri, I found your YT videos today and am very glad I did. Today I get a Switch for the first time. The Switch with the Zelda pattern. I will probably start with Breath of the Wild first that I already own. Your videos are a great help to me and I look forward to conquering the world with Link. With your help. The last time I played Zelda was with the Wii (Twilight Princess). I know I have a lot to learn and train, (am a pretty old guy) but your pointers are gold to me. And I will have a lot of fun, hehe. All the best to you with many greetings from Germany.
Thanks for another GREAT video! This game has a pretty steep learning curve that was too much for my daughter when we bought her the game for Christmas last year. She quickly got really frustrated with it and gave up trying. Months later, she tried again and has been hooked ever since and your content has been a huge help to her. Had she seen this video in the beginning, she’d have been doing great from the very beginning!
i just finished the main storyline in botw on my roommate's switch (i'm buying it from him when the lease ends teehee) and i'm obsessed with finishing all of the side quests and post game material and uncovering things i missed before! also great to see such a chill gaming channel run by a fellow southern gal ❤
I’m a PS5 user and I’ve never played a Switch game of any kind. I read so much about Botw and really wanted to give it a go. Bought a Switch and Botw, only Switch game I own. Wow, having so much fun with this game. Your videos have been super helpful. I’ve spent a fair amount of time lost and dying, but still having a great time. So!! Much to learn and explore, I plan on just taking my time and enjoying every bit of this amazing game. Thanks again for excellent videos.
You are very welcome, and that is the best advice that you just gave yourself… Don’t get frustrated and take your time, explore everything and enjoy the journey!
You can also get it by making his favorite dish he talks about in his dairy the Hyrule bass is the missing ingredient just make it for him and he will give you the warm doublet
Something I wish I had known about is hidden bonuses that some clothes have. Such as the wind waker shirt which allows you to change the direction of the wind with a korok leaf.
In the magnesis shrine, there is a treasure chest off to the left of the big doors. You can grab the chest, put it behind the doors and then pull the chest to you. That will bring you the chest and open the doors in one smooth move.
10:45 You can also pick up a bomb you've thrown or placed, or put it away if you are still holding it. Bombs vanish when they get far from you, but you might want to try to detonate a runaway so you aren't waiting for your bomb to refresh
I don't wish I knew anything earlier; I want to discover it on my own! The time I discover is neither early nor late, it is right. This goes for every game.
I had to replace our switch that finally died and was not repairable. Guess who is replaying BOTW again (me) and not the kids. Those chumps don't know what they're missing. Happy new year everyone!
I got one for Christmas from my half (who was apparently listening to all those tales of 'why I bought the super nintendo all those years ago')... Grown woman, and I'm having to fight myself not to smuggle the thing to work....
For cooking and roasting (laying food beside a fire or on death mountain) food for heart gains, roasting gives 50% percent bonus heart, and cooking in a pot is 100% bonus. So apple is 1/2, roasted 3/4, and baked is 1. Also wheat, rice, nuts, butter, eggs, milk, and salt all increase buff duration for cooked food. You can whistle with down on the dpad to scare fish to shore and get wildlife to raise their head for headshots. Early game, roasted meat and bass will be a life saver. Also worth mentioning the anti one-shot mechanic; when at full health, a hit that would normally kill you leaves you at 1/4 heart instead.
I only just recently picked up Breath of the Wild and your videos have been so helpful!! I love the way you explain things; thanks so much for this great content!!
I could not get into BOTW, although i love TOTK, but I think i might have to go back and try it again. Great video. Also I'm from Australia and I LOVE your accent. For some reason it makes your videos even more welcoming.
It is definitely worth giving it another shot. My heart will always be with BoTW, ToTK is a great game don’t get me wrong but BoTW is just hard to beat 💞 Thank you, and thank you for watching!
4:37 even on the great plateau may the Sneak Strike don`t kill at once, because of your weapon is to weak, don`t panic, go in the front of the laying down enemy (to the head) wait till it stand up and turn around. Sneak Strike chain. Later on in the game, that comes really in handy
4:58 fun fact, on the great plateau you can get the trousers twice (and i think you also can buy then later on) but yeah, you can have 2 trousers what means you can sell one later on
Explore every inch. If you have the DLC packs, there is a feature that allows you to see where you have been in the map mode. It is called , " Hero's Path ." I am almost done with the game and just discovered that I miss a few treasure chests on the Great Plateau.

24:11 You can get up onto almost any Stone Talus easily and quickly (not a lava or freezing talus without special armor) by getting close to its body and getting behind it. Avoid its fists, and climb up his butt crack. Works like a charm. Then roll or throw bombs at the stone to destroy it
Wow I learned some new things today! You make an amazing teacher! Also Sparing Bark, and Bite, the Boko twin archers at the beginning is a brilliant idea! Thank you Sherry foe sharing your wisdom! Even having 930 hours in the game doesn't mean I know everything! Learning new skills helps a a lot!
Here is a tip. Throw a bomb in the water near a group a fish. Trigger the bomb. It will stun the fish and cause them to float to the top of the water. Jump in and collect the fish.
To all newbies and all once every while player, please see my comments as an additional information, that walk through is one of the best and for the length detailed one, i ever come a cross. She can nor tell you every single little detail, in that time. Trust me, even 1.5 h with fast speaking, will be just cover it, but than you have to jump back a lot, because of "wait what he/she said?" that was way to fast.
Before I added the DLC, I'd jump off right where the horses are, hit one with an ice arrow, and jump on it. Then it's off to Satori Mountain for all those goodies! I don't register the horse until I get to Dueling Peaks stable and use it for the side quest on catching a wild horse.
You are a phenomenal speaker. Thank you so so so much for helping me with this game!! I'm 27 and was feeling ridiculous thinking the game was too hard but you've simplified everything. You're a saint🥹
16:16 plus, i don`t know for sure, if she tells you the minimum time but i think so. But, if you are lucky or cook during a blood moon (later on after the great plateau) you can have with the same ingrediencies a bit longer time, a stronger buff ..
One thing I learned when trying to shoot boar or the mountain goats, get a head shot. If you don't you're just wasting arrows. Rather than using my weapons to break metal crates use magnesis to drop them on top of another one. Saves wear and tear on your weapons.
@@WTF-Gaming I’m a bit late to the switch. But I just bought one to play BOTW and TOTK. Your video equipped me to start right. Also you’re sooooo clear on how you explain.
16:00 hmm how i understood it, what you said, is, don`t mix Stamina, Attack and or Defense Food or you get dubious food. That is incorrect, you can mix it and get a meal out of it. That mixing can be even important later on, if you have the DLC and wanna go the "extra Mile". But yes, don`t mix food with cithers or Monster Parts. Only few exception by food and "Monster stuff", but that is way later on, But sure, she will you tell you that later on.
@@WTF-Gaming i Thought so, but i forgot to say, you lose the benefice ;) we all are not perfekt. I know it by my self in my Vids i made, by rewatching, argh what did i said lol ;)
Thanks for the great video, i play the WiiU version because i have to much nintendo consoles 😅 but the game is exactly the same as the switch version and you are helping me a lot, thanks. Happy new year
funni little glitch i found while on the plaetau when i started, staises (idk how to spell it) a random boulder or log, climb on it after hitting it a few times, then there you go! You get flung lol
Yeah.....climb the ladder.......dont painstakingly climb the buildings sides multiple times until you finally make it then realize a year later THERES A LADDER RIGHT. THERE. 😭😭😭
OK, I was a fan after the first video. However, this was even more helpful than the first videos. I was always wondering why don't I have any critters other than a couple fireflies? Now I know cut the grass. I know I'm 6 years late but I was waiting for a drop in price. I know there was several sales I missed, but Nintendo doesn't mark things down in price for very long.
Hi! Sorry I’m a really new player. I have 2 questions for anyone who cares to answer. Firstly, when we die, do we lose any inventory or are there any other negative consequences from dying other than starting over from the last spawn point? Secondly, can anyone tell me if this plays well in handheld mode? I only have a Switch Lite as of now, I plan on getting an OLED but not for a while, and even then I almost exclusively game in handheld mode anyway. Are the controls any different? Any setting suggestions to improve handheld? Thank you guys! 💕
You don’t really lose anything when you die, maybe a fairy… I feel like it’s hard to see stuff on the handheld but other than that I don’t think the performance is any different 😉
Learn to crouch? Bah. I can't stop crouching every time I need to be doing something else quickly. Everytime I fail at something or die it's because I'm constantly crouching every darn time I use the left stick. I need to learn how to not crouch. Wish I could disable that function when I'm solving a shrine or about to fight. Awesome info!
Happy new year! Love these. My GF is playing the game but really struggles with the combat. She knows what to do, but can’t seem to do it fluidly which has been a cause of frustration. So, she just hands it to me whenever there’s something to fight. Would you be able to show us how you trained your combat and character control skills? Thanks :)
I know this says Lynel but try this technique of saving before engaging in battle and then practicing one technique at a time as far as parry, dodge etc for different enemies… it may help How to Defeat A Lynel in Breath of The Wild Learn the Basics and It’s Easy th-cam.com/video/WBko25DwWhw/w-d-xo.html
if i may add, remind her she can hit the inventory to stop everything for a second. it helps with my combat anxiety, also i fill up the food and elixirs

10:11 since there is no penalty for death I say you should “Git Gud,” and work on learning how to parry the eye laser cause the Guardians that are stuck in the ground die with one parry of the laser. I can’t explain the timings but there are plenty of vids that tell you how to do it.
Yes thank you … and when you go to your map, if you zoom in, you will know you get all of the chests because a little chest icon will show next to the shrine name😉 I failed to mention that

You are very welcome, I love sharing and I learn a lot from you guys, so we all learn together 😉, thank you for watching!
@@WTF-Gaming You're welcome anytime!
Here is a tip. Throw a bomb in the water near a group a fish. Trigger the bomb. It will stun the fish and cause them to float to the top of the water. Jump in and collect the fish.
Love you sherry, great videos and dialogue
Thank you 💞and thank you for watching!
Thank you!💞
@@WTF-Gaming Well. i only tell the truth, no thanks needed. But Thank you
Wish I’d watched this before I started playing. I may just have to go back to The Great Plateau and search around seems I have missed a lot!
8:23 to your left high on a shelf is a treasure chest that can be pulled down with Magnesis.
Nice video, good advice! You should make a video on what to do first after leaving the Plateau! I like to go straight to Majora's Mask, then Satori.
Thank you Miss Sherry.
You are welcome, thank you for watching!
Yes or bombs 😉for the metal crates
Another great way to get across mud: cryonis! I accidentally figured that one out and has been game changing!
All good tips, keep them coming it helps everyone… thank you!
Catching bugs works best in sneak outfit you can get it at kikivillage best caught when it's raining on beach at lumbering village
20:13 or hold ZL, it`s make it a bit easier to hold the path. (juup, one of the rare cases to hold ZL)
Good cooking advice.
You are tempting me to play through the whole game a 4th time lmao
🤣💞
I just like watching videos about gaming.
Thanks for sharing what you learned.
You are very welcome… Thank you so much for watching!
I absolutely love you videos! Just stumbled across them.
Thank you and thank you for watching!
@@WTF-Gaming I’m a bit late to the switch. But I just bought one to play BOTW and TOTK. Your video equipped me to start right. Also you’re sooooo clear on how you explain.
@@ubfysted1305 never too late and enjoy your journey 💞 I hope they help and thank you for watching!
Yes I misspoke on the dubious part… just cancels each other out 😉
@@WTF-Gaming i Thought so, but i forgot to say, you lose the benefice ;) we all are not perfekt. I know it by my self in my Vids i made, by rewatching, argh what did i said lol ;)
Thanks for the great video, i play the WiiU version because i have to much nintendo consoles 😅 but the game is exactly the same as the switch version and you are helping me a lot, thanks.
Happy new year
You are very welcome, and thank you so much for watching! Happy new year!
funni little glitch i found while on the plaetau when i started, staises (idk how to spell it) a random boulder or log, climb on it after hitting it a few times, then there you go! You get flung lol
Yeah.....climb the ladder.......dont painstakingly climb the buildings sides multiple times until you finally make it then realize a year later THERES A LADDER RIGHT. THERE. 😭😭😭
🤣🤣 good tip 😉
I didn't see that ladder for at least a year after I started playing. I'd gone right past it tons of times!
🤣 I find new things every time I play
OK, I was a fan after the first video. However, this was even more helpful than the first videos. I was always wondering why don't I have any critters other than a couple fireflies? Now I know cut the grass. I know I'm 6 years late but I was waiting for a drop in price. I know there was several sales I missed, but Nintendo doesn't mark things down in price for very long.
I am so glad it helped and thank you for watching!
I had no idea what I was doing and just made my way up the snowy mountain with a torch, ignoring everything so I wouldn't put it away
3:55 Pro Tip so to say, if don`t have a bit stronger bow, but you have the Bombs already, use them, ok ok it`s a bit of a detour than
Just got the game love it so far,but its overwhelming so much stuff and things im sure i have missed. This video help me
I am so glad it helped, just take your time and enjoy your journey!
Quick tip, cook the wood you cut down if you’re out of food.
Can you do ballads dlc for dummies walkthrough? It's so overwhelming 🥺
Maybe 🤔
Something my husband taught me: hunt with bombs!!! I barely ever break a bow any more because I use bombs for almost everything!
I do the same .. excellent tip to mention thank you!
What a unique voice. Excellent! Different and very clear. Subscribe.
Thank you and thank you for watching!
i still remember the first time i saw the old man. i thought he was a bad guy so i climbed down the cliff XD.
It took me so long to realize you could break the crates for stuff. And I only learned cause I used it to fight 😂 didnt know I could break vases tho
🤣
Also could have mentioned the 2 other DLC chests
Happy new year! Love these.
My GF is playing the game but really struggles with the combat. She knows what to do, but can’t seem to do it fluidly which has been a cause of frustration. So, she just hands it to me whenever there’s something to fight.
Would you be able to show us how you trained your combat and character control skills? Thanks :)
I will see what I can do … and thank you so much for watching!
@@WTF-Gaming thank you!
I know this says Lynel but try this technique of saving before engaging in battle and then practicing one technique at a time as far as parry, dodge etc for different enemies… it may help

Thank you, love the name and nothing like the south 💞
i'm already 64 hours in and there's so much that i missed :D
Take your time, explore everything, and enjoy your journey!💞
Agreed. Explore every inch. If you have the DLC packs, there is a feature that allows you to see where you have been in the map mode. It is called , " Hero's Path ." I am almost done with the game and just discovered that I miss a few treasure chests on the Great Plateau.
Hello, Sherry! Thanks for the content! How do you learn all this?
You are welcome…Most is just from playing the game, but I learn lots from you guys! 💞
Why do I love your voice so much??!
💞thank you!
10:11 since there is no penalty for death I say you should “Git Gud,” and work on learning how to parry the eye laser cause the Guardians that are stuck in the ground die with one parry of the laser. I can’t explain the timings but there are plenty of vids that tell you how to do it.
Awesome video 😊 thanks
You are welcome… Thank you!
GREAT VID! More of that, hope you don`t mind my comments

if i may, can i add that all shrines have at least 1 chest.. and are hard to notice at times...
Yes thank you … and when you go to your map, if you zoom in, you will know you get all of the chests because a little chest icon will show next to the shrine name😉 I failed to mention that
Where is the old man’s cabin located?
It is in the great plateau, I thought I gave you a location

Not really enjoying botw, maybe it's because I bought a switch lite and the screen is so small.
You can’t connect that to the tv can you? I use a dock for mine and play it on the TV, but I don’t know if the lite can be docked 🤷♀️
