  • IF YOUR AFTERMARKET ADAPTERS DO NOT FIT, WATCH THIS.
    Ford chose to use plastic for their cable ends and over time they will fail, leaving you with suicide doors that will not open. This video picks up where the other tutorials leave off, the rest of the story.

    So much for my memory! Drill bit size would be correct.

    Don't cut the sheath, just drill out the sleeve to 13/64".

      I don't have a drill press, so would have messed up the sleeves. But definitely easier if you have the tools.

    I just bought 08 ranger and passenger side rear top is loose does that mean I have to do exactly the same work you did? Where do I get that part you placed over cable? Very helpful video thanks for head's up

      If the door opens, you don't have to do this. Search for the parts online. Find a mechanic friend

    Hello I’m currently doing mine but how do I remove the cable from the top latch to put on the new pins. Do I have to grind the rivets off the latch to open in. How do you close it back then?

      The latch/handle is riveted on. I drilled them out, then riveted it back on. Hardware stores sell rivet guns and rivets. There are different size rivets. If your not familur with riveting, ask around.

    What size rivets did you end up using? I just finished this same project on my 98 ranger and need to go out and buy a rivet gun and correct size rivets, but can’t seem to find online what size to use.

      If memory serves me right, it was 1/8 inch. Will look for the rivet package.

      Thanks for the reply. Others on internet have said 3/8” diameter which is the drill bit size I used that fits the door handle hole. I just am not clear on if I also need the flange diameter and grip range.

    What if the door is closed and you can't open it to do the job?

      I would probably try removing the inner panels to gain access to the inner door.

    Do i cut cables on both sides?

    • @gbsadventures3710
      @gbsadventures3710  ปีที่แล้ว

      only on one side.... to be clear, you are not cutting the cable, just shortening the outer sheath.

    • @gbsadventures3710
      @gbsadventures3710  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edoneill6701 correct, do not cut the cables.... just shorten the outter sheath.

      Hi, did you end up cutting your cables? How'd that work out?

    • @gbsadventures3710

      It held till he sold the truck. I understand there is a set of cables specific for the ranger. We had to make ours fit.

    This is not how it's done.
