Thank you for showing this fix!! I am a 60 yr old woman that is pretty Mechanical and I was able to fix this like you said in 20 minutes my cable just came out of the U-shaped holder put back in and then zip tied it to the same bar
Three years later and you’re still helping people out. Appreciate the video. I used baling wire instead of a zip tie and worked perfectly. Thanks for the step by step.
Just did this on a 97 F-150 using your video. That door hadn't opened in 6 years. Wish I had known it was that easy sooner. Thanks a bunch for putting this out there!
Thanks. No problems with my third door from 1998 until this afternoon, 4-13-22. Thanks for showing us the quick fix, and keeping us out of the dealer's clutches.
Thanks for providing a free, simple and immediate solution. I had 2 broken back doors on my 2001 F150 and now both work. You even included the socket siz - Excellent!
Thank you for the tip! I went out and did the same thing on my truck. It took about 10 minutes, now it’s working. I broke the same little clip in the door you did. Lol thanks to your video my door is opening!
Been trying to get the back doors on my 2003 maroon f150 and this was the best and yet helpful video i done seen by far, thanks for the content looking for more Larry modifications 🔥🔥
I love the Larry content. I have a 2000 Ford F150 extra cab 2 wheel drive in bright red. Since I started watching your videos, I've put 2 inch spacers behind the factory wheels, steps under the front doors, and a new exhaust to get that great V8 rumble. Always looking for more ideas for my 10th gen F150.
The video helped me. But mine was the cable on the bottom. I recall my childhood ten speeds always had problems with these things. Thanks Ford for bringing back childhood frustrations :P
Beautiful truck! Wished mine looked that good. My door just did this today🤦♂️. Unfortunatly, I have a system to remove to be able to get to everything 🤦♂️.Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the tip. Definitely gonna try it on my F150 since the same back door is shut on me. If it can save me some money now with this trick that'll be awesome 👌🏻
I just wanted to say thank you for making this video - it was extremely clear and helpful, and saved me a few hundred dollars from taking the truck into the dealership…. Well done!
I have the exact same truck..color too lol and my rear door wont open. It worked but not with the zip tie really tight I had to just snug it up then it worked. Still have to pull pretty hard on the inside handle but the outside handle works great. Thanks
If you ever wanna replace the door speakers in Larry I would recommend Rockford Fosgate p1572 punch, sound great and add bass or JL audio c3 750 evolution which I currently have
There’s a $11 metal holders for the cable you can also buy at Advanced or AutoZone that is a more permanent fix than the plastic holders for the cable going to the latch takes about 15 minutes to do cause you gotta pull the actual latches out but definitely worth it I just put the metal clips on my 01 Lariat
great video but it didn't seem to work for us the bottom wire could be done manually and seemed to work mostly fine but the top one (like the one in your video was having problems) so i tried your method of the ziptie im sad to say it didn't work but it seems to work for other people
I used this method but I also had to replace the white/yellow clip, you can find at O’Reillys. If it dosnt work after fixing what he did then you’ll have to do it to the top one too
An essential detail is to put the zip tie behind the cable and the clip piece of metal that it had previously been snapped off now broken if you set the top part of the cable on the metal squeeze clip then easily put a zip tie around it and the side control latch bar it will not slide off. Reaction to opening and closing as the original component works to align the cable... to maintain a balanced tension on the cable. I put two zip ties creating an x shape. Two zip ties and sprayed it with silicon lubricant. It should last 20 plus years. A F150 2002 I could not figure out how to install a new metal sleeve after mkt part. I used the existing top part of the broken cable sitting on top of the metal clip and snug/attach tightly with the zip tie. I used two ties.
Quite difficult to get the zip tie in proper place. Unfortunately it turned out my upper cable top grommet was also bad. Could not remove cable due to clip inside door but was able to change both grommets insitu. Upper was a bear.
They sell a ' cable fix kit' on amazon for this very issue, its like 12Usd, and its aluminum collar/caps for both ends of all the cables in the rear half doors, just installed mine today, quality wise i'd say about 7-10, i had to take a hack saw and file the grove for the cables a bit to allow it to pass smoothly when the cables were fully seated, but thats a tool i'm sure anyone has access to if you're ambitious enough to open your car door. only complication i can for see is if you need to install the collar caps on the latch ends of the cables you will need access to the appropriate sized Star socket and 3/8ths ratchet. but its a long term permanent fix for this issue

I am so pleased I found this guy and his solution. 1 zip tie. That's it. I love the multi-tool used rather than a pile of tools.
THANK YOU! You saved me about $100 to get my door fixed. Instead I found your video 100% accurate and I did it myself in 30 Minutes.
Just did this on a 97 F-150 using your video. That door hadn't opened in 6 years. Wish I had known it was that easy sooner. Thanks a bunch for putting this out there!

Had two broken doors as well. This fixed one. Can't figure out the passenger side door.
Thank you for the tip! I went out and did the same thing on my truck. It took about 10 minutes, now it’s working. I broke the same little clip in the door you did. Lol thanks to your video my door is opening!
Thanks so much! Literally a 20 minute repair, including hunting for the spacers I needed to take up the slack in the cable!
I just bought a f150 10th gen like yours and stumbled upon your videos and they have been real helpful. Please keep on with Larry content!
Have watched already about 10 videos on fixing this and yours is the easiest I have seen so far! Thank you 🤗
Thanks for the great detail. Agreed, the zip tie might be temporary, but it did the trick for my old 97’ work horse.
Thank you brother! Fixed my door today doing this. Works like a charm.
Thanks that fixed it. Very helpful and you made it so much easier.
Thanks man my door in my 10th gen broke last year and I thought it would be super complicated to fix but after watching this I did it in 10mins
Thank you! Lots of appreciation and love to the sweet dogs!
Thank you so much for this simple easy fix that I have been looking for weeks for!!! Seems like an easy 10 minute job.

That’s going to look sweet on Larry those new wheels and tires oh yes
Very simple explanation of access and how to get it open. I fixed it once before but forgot how to get in there. Big help !!! Buck

Dude, your a genius.
Makes me miss my 98 Lariat F150 watching these 😂
Love my Gen10 . Thank you for the tips and upgrades. Great trucks!
The video helped me. But mine was the cable on the bottom. I recall my childhood ten speeds always had problems with these things. Thanks Ford for bringing back childhood frustrations :P

Hey man are you out in grandbury Tx?
Freaking love this channel
You got the door open. How do you release latches if both are locked. Top n bottom ? 😢
It’s been a lil over a full year is it still working from this initial fix for this video? I’m about to do it now
If you ever wanna replace the door speakers in Larry I would recommend Rockford Fosgate p1572 punch, sound great and add bass or JL audio c3 750 evolution which I currently have

Latch has rivets.
Does anyone know if the 4 foot truck doors fit a single cab ? Or do I need to get some from a cab and a half like this one ?
Larry is what makes me wanna get that body style f150 when I buy my first truck
My favorite body style Ford ever made.
Good job i got the same truck let me know if you want to get rid of some tires
Just happened to me thanks for video information into what the problem was
Probably a little late but what rims are those?

Had a similar issue in my brother's 98 years ago. Used a zip tie, and it's still holding up today.
Put the Ford to Chevy adapters back on Larry and put the 24 &35s just see how it looks!!!!!
What do you do when nothing gets the door open?
Thank you.
Be cool to see u do speaker upgrades to Larry

Love the truck. Trying to find someone who has put a lightning motor in a 4x4 long bed 2000 model
