This song was part of the soundtrack of my life in the mid nineties. How can you love and hate a song so much. When I hear this it seems to bring me back in time and I really feel the pain again. All of the memories are poignant because I ended up marrying the guy that caused me all this angst. I just lost him in 2019 after 24 years. Don't ever try to smush down memories too far because they may end up being your most cherished in the end. And also because the song is phenomenal. Lol
Nah, great songs and energy but Jenkins never could sing live. He even plays the crappy singer replacement in the movie Rockstar. He can write, he can't sing by his own admission. He's actually really really terrible.
That's because in this video the original guitar and bass players Arion Salazar and Kevin Cadogan are present. They will never and have never sounded as good a band since these 2 have been out of the band.
I bet his voice was shot from always screaming the high notes. They abandoned that in their second album and I didn't like their songs after that. That said I think he did a decent job performing the song. Most in his situation would have just lip synced lol.
im a 90s kid and i miss this real music that sounded like the albums none of that bullshit autotunes and computerized sounds.....real artists still exist
He's right I was born 98 so I concerned myself 90s and the music nowadays isn't real music there's no heart and soul all about money and there's no talent and bands sell out for the money and fame
You know this album had a shit ton of auto tune and computer generated sounds, right? And does that mean incubus isn’t real music? They’re from the same time period. I’m fuckin tired of that argument, good music is getting pumped out daily, you just have to want to find it
2021. Arion Salazar. If you listen from :32-:35 that dude's timing turned this into the most beautiful throwback to James Jamerson I've ever heard in pop music. Most underrated bassist ever... Wherever you are, props to you, brother.
Life may have and perhaps should have turned out differently, but for whatever reason, it just didn't. Time heals, look forward. Life is still beautiful.
Their last cd in which I illegally downloaded (bc Jenkins doesn't deserve a dime from me) was shit lol cadogan on the other hand after preforming that intro 'Herald' proves he still has the 3eb touch
JKD1001 I had to take a deep breath and count to ten after reading your comment. I understand music is subjective and you're entitled to your opinion, but your opinion's stupid and you're wrong. That is all.
@@spencerwillock No, he's NOT a douche. He's actually a pretty cool guy. Very self-centered, yes. I met him about 10 years ago here in Las Vegas. I was a cab driver. I picked him up at a mcmansion in Henderson and drove him around for about 45 minutes. He talked nonstop about himself Third Eye Blind etc. After the ride was over he hugged me and said come and see him sometime, and he meant it.

This is interesting, because it is before Autotune became standard for every young new band. Jenkins has terrible pitch problems at times, but at least he's authentic. Most of what you hear today is Autotuned and fake. You'll never hear Adam Levine or his kind without his Autotune.
Couldn't agree more. When they sing live, my money goes to lip sing and auto tunes. I've missed this kind of vibe when musicians are real genuine and authentic ones despite the pitch problems. Just look at Mariah and see how she sing these days.
Adam Levine is a pure vocalist who can hit any note on the scale. Jenkins is a singer who plays in a band. It's just voice talent and Adam doesn't auto tune live performances.
When I first heard a small clip of this song, I thought of my mom who has dymentia and soon to be alzheimers. Howz it going to be when you don't know me any more" That's not what the song is about and as far as the pose of the lead singer, who cares? They learned, practiced, came together and made art, whether you like it or not. I won't be following the group but I appreciate the talent and effort. Go do better and be tolerant, not judgemental.
IMO, they really needed a 2nd guitarist on this live in order to add some extra punch, particularly from around 2:23 onward when they are supposed to really kick this song into gear.

Even though his singing isn't perfect, it's so authentic and that's what makes it good.

Not sure what perfect would sound like. But I'll take live and authentic over recorded fakeness any time.
He didnt flat any of those high notes.
That straight jacket is fucking gold hahaha. Only Jenkins can pull off being cool even looking like a weirdo.
Nah, I disagree. It was a little out of place. Made him look like he was trying way too hard. Oh well, it was the 90's.
I agree haha

He's not pulling it off.
even with shitty pitch i still get goosebumps at 2:45 , why do i love this song so much again ?
If I were to guess its because of the sweet guitars?

Blue....the entire CD is part of my genetic code now that I’ve listened it for a few decades!
Dude, it's crazy you said this. I was driving yesterday and this came on the radio. Same part, goosebumps, Everytime

Kevin Cadogan is really a good guitarist - and he’s hardly known

Not too surprising since he’s another former student of Joe Satriani.

How's it going to be
When there's no one there to talk to
Between you and me
'Cause I don't care
How's it going to be
How's it going to be
Where we used to laugh
There's a shouting match
Sharp as a thumbnail scratch
A silence I can't ignore
Like the hammock by the
Doorway we spent time in swings empty
Don't see lightning like last fall
When it was always about to hit me
I wonder how's it going to be
When it goes down
How's it going to be
When you're not around
How's it going to be
When you found out there was nothing
Between you and me
'Cause I don't care
How's it going to be
And how's it going to be
When you don't know me anymore
And how's it going to be
Want to get myself back in again
The soft dive of oblivion
I want to taste the salt of your skin
The soft dive of oblivion, oblivion
How's it going to be
When you don't know me anymore
How's it going to be
