I’ve got the same car, love it. In-line 6s forever! PS: can turn off safety assists but hitting the Traction control button or by cycling the driver assistance button next to the caution lights.
I love mine. They're a great daily driver. I did a 100 mile journey along the south coast of the UK from Bournemouth and managed 40Mpg. That was in comfort mode (So now interested to see if I can get another 20% in Eco). It's a lovely understated beast. It has some nice sporty accents without shouting "look at me".
@@ItsRyan. I get mid 40s with longer motorway journeys (averaged 47 for a recent Manchester-London trip). Mid 30s with my commute (mixed urban with some single and dual carriageway) and high 20s-low 30s when I go out and have a lot of fun in the peak district.
Absolutely agree re buttons Vs touchscreen. I now have to use 1 finger placed on the trim just below the touchscreen which then steadies my index finger in preparation to tap the right part of the screen. Even then it might not respond to my touch so i have to do it again. You press a button and you know almost and mostly without looking that youve pressed it because you can feel it. Its way more natural. Touchscreens are surely worse for distraction when on the move?! . 'Feels' like a backward step to me.

I believe there is a button for turning off all the autonomous lane keep whatever you want to call it right next to the hazard button the hazard lights it looks like a little car in a circle if you hold that button in for like 10 seconds maybe five it turns everything completely off
Yeah, someone else commented the same thing. I was completely unaware of it at the time. To be fair though it’s still not a physical button, it’s a touch sensitive area of the dash. A button is tactical and you don’t need to take your eyes off the road to know you are actually touching it. Plus, having to press something for 5 seconds to turn off a basic feature is dangerous IMO. Having one hand on the wheel and two eyes on a tiny touch sensitive area of the dash for 5 seconds while you drive around a twisty road is dangerous. I loved this car, but the lack of physical buttons to turn basic features on/off really bugged me. The 2018 model got it right.
Where is the green circle button and does it have any indication on it that it will turn off lane assist? I looked all over the dash several times for a button with the “lane assist” pic on it and found nothing.
@@RoadToTheF1 Look at the video 11:17 just above the climate control is a green ring button. Press and hold that for 3 seconds and ALL assist is turned off. But this comes back on every time you turn the car off and on again. So you need to press the green ring button once, go into individual mode configuration and turn off lane assist then select individual mode. Then from that point even if you turn the car off and on it will remember the setting and lane assist is off for good or until you want it back on fully.
great episode! recently picked up a 2018 330i with the msport package and I’m in love. I felt the same way about the in-line 6 model, would definitely be getting my first speeding ticket in that lol
You need to code the feature for the car to remember your mode… my 2021 m340i doesn’t pop much, it’s very quiet (bummer) I don’t want explosions but just a bit more character in the sound department.
Good to know! You’d think they would just make that the standard though. Yeah, it’s a bit of a shame that they didn’t quite nail the exhaust note this time around. Knowing what it can sound like, it’s just a little bit flat this time around.
@@ethanmittler3682 cuz it adds a bit of power when you're at low rpm. its not a lot I think like 10 horsepower or something it just makes it a little bit smoother
I think that if this car didn't have all this BS on it and wasn't over complicated for no good reason that it would be $40k car, which would make it very tempting. At $55k, and at dealer likely not under $60-65k, a Lexus is a better buy because a Lexus will last longer than 3 years. These stupid UX systems are pissing me off. Computerized just complicates things. Just disconnect the sensors the ECU uses for lane assist.
Yes, launch control will activate anytime. You just have to throw it into drive and then back over to sport shift mode. It helps to know the car you’re reviewing before reviewing it so you don’t look so stupid talking about it.

The eco pro system is amazing from Fresno, CA to Las Vegas I averaged 37mpg. Its insane.

I don't have problem with lane assistance. I configure it in the i Drive to just vibrate the steering to warn only but not to intevene.
you can also switch it off permanently there
One of the most useful M340i reviews I’ve see. Thanks!

I saw somewhere that is due to a software upgrade tht Bmw released. Might be a way to change it
try the AWE exhaust touring edition with resonator. I did but still keep the oem tip just to fool other bimmers.

You can create a shortcut of any menu item like lane assist and assign it to a radio button.....easy peasy. just like setting a radio station.
Great review. Thank you!
Is it xdrive?
8:18 I’ve found the flaw… your wing mirror’s hanging off!
Just use your voice, tell it to turn lane assist off? Does that not work?. (Or indicate to change lane, that deactivates it too).
How reliable is this model thinking about getting one
It’s pretty solid but problems will start appearing once a bmw hits over 100k miles
Your driver side mirror is hanging off 😂, definitely did not do that in eco pro
Can you not put a short cut on the number button
Before I watch the video I’m going to guess the sound is the flaw. I have a 2021 and that’s my biggest gripe with it. My 2018 340i sounded better.
I’ve heard the 2020 sounds better than 21 cause they changed the exhaust or something. Probably to make people shell out more for the m sport exhaust.
