Can this be made for a toddler? I notice the cast on sts. are uneven numbers so if I get the measurement of the childs head and use uneven amount of sts will the pattern work?

Chri Smith Since you know the cable cast on I'd suggest also learning the knitted cast on. It's very close to the way a cable cast on is made but has a different edge. Another cast on that is the simplest. It's called the backwards loop or thumb cast on (sometimes called an e cast on). I show them all in a replay of a live tutorial I did. I'll go grab the link.
