    Awesome video. I love the trailer! Hate the arguing in the comment section. Someone always has to be a critic. It's an ugly trait, really. Anyway, thanks for posting this and again, awesome video and a fantastic trailer.

      Huh? Ok lets break it down...
      #1 invested in this start up? Answer. I have not. I thought it was cool when I passed by at the expo.
      #2 GOD made this thing? Answer. WTF are you talking about? Are you typing...drunk? I remember my first beer lol. Focus man. focus!!!!
      #3 I met a retired marine Colonel who was tired of sleeping in the dirt, BULLSHIT they don't sleep in the dirt. Answer. OK bud here is where I know you never served with the Marines. Marines are the tip of the spear. They are all riflemen and they are led by officers and senior enlisted. I never said the man was a Colonel. You came up with that. As for Marine officers sleeping in the dirt...yes they do. A typical rifle "company" will have 5 or 6 officers leading roughly 150 Marines. (rifle platoon, weapons platoon, HQ) When they are in country and bullets are flying you can bet your ass they are in the dirt with their fellow Marines. Colonels - No...but 2nd LT, 1st LT, Captains....absolutely are in the dirt with their Marines.
      So why the hate and discontent bro?

    Thanks for this video mixflip. For so long now, hardened camp trailers have been the purview of Australia. It is so nice to see American companies entering the market. I think that Oregon Trailer has made some smart choices, and I absolutely love the LineX exterior. The blackout, with just a hint of color from the decals, is awesomeness!

    It looks pretty cool, but $15,000 to get out of the rain? I think a $300 tent does the same thing.

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Michael Tellurian I think you missed the part where he said this model was done to the extreme for the show. you can order it without the rhino lining top to bottom, no solar shower, no window covers, no dual doors (just one side only), no rotopaks, no tongue box, no roof rack, no full size spare, no awning, no recovery tools, no deep cycle battery etc....and you can save over $10,000+. this was just to show what you can do and to grab attention at the show. at least that's what I think their goal was?

    • @michaeltellurian825
      @michaeltellurian825 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I'll amend my comment for you: $5000 to get out of the rain? I think a $300 tent does the same thing.

    • @michaeltellurian825
      @michaeltellurian825 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. I was just looking at an auto dealer's ad in the newspaper and one of the vehicles featured was a 2016 Jeep 4x4 for $14,999...the same price as this teardrop fully loaded!

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Michael Tellurian why buy a house then? you can sleep in a tent. why buy a car? you can ride a bicycle to work. why buy beef or chicken? you can eat lettuce and tomatoes and carrots. why carry a gun? you can defend yourself with a $20 knife.

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never under estimate a knife vs a gun especially when you combine the total lack of gun skills vs a skilled or determined person with a blade. Why do you think cops are taught in the academy about the"Tueller drill"? A knife is easy to conceal, quick to deploy, never jams, never runs out of ammo and even an idiot with no skills can inflict deadly wounds just by going berserk on his victim.
      These cops are in uniform, in a marked patrol car, clearly have open carry guns and training to shoot them under stress...yet the knife attacker still got successful strikes in before he was stopped. Don't over estimate your abilities with a gun. Just because you carry one doesn't mean you won't get stabbed if attacked with a knife.

  • @c.t.2152
    @c.t.2152 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think the tents that fold down from the top of your car/Truck are best.
    Some bolt right to your cargo rack.
    And some replace your cargo rack.
    I have seen some really large ones.

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chris Tindall best is very subjective. my wife hates tent camping especially when the temp drips at midnight and the howling winds pick up. (this was the case at the 2016 expo lol)

    • @OregonTrailR
      @OregonTrailR 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We love RTT's, but there are certain things to consider, like once you're set up, you aren't taking any day trips or running off for supplies, without pulling all your gear back out, folding your tent back away, etc. Also zero insulation, no options for battery, stove, sink, etc... To each their own of course, but both markets are currently killing it in the overland industry, and for good reason.

    • @c.t.2152
      @c.t.2152 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      True But a tent can stay at the site and a Regular Trailer as well.
      It's NOT the tear drop design or how quick you can pack up and go.
      It's the price !
      plus Patriot Trailers are about the same price every bit as rugged and better equipped. better designed .
      I noticed you could not cast shade on a camper .
      even if you had all three slide outs out what 5 min per slide out and DAY TRIP BOUND.
      I just Don't see the value unless cute counts. As a guy I can hear it now.
      Where's the rest of Your trailer?
      when are you going to buy a real trailer?
      Or Excuse me but can i use your shower?

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Chris Tindall I have noticed there is room for all styles and tastes in the overland market. some like jeeps, some like trucks, some like Subs. same goes for how you sleep and live in and around them. it's all about having fun and enjoying life I guess.
      I don't care for $30k Harleys but my friends do. we still have a blast regardless of what we ride.

    • @OregonTrailR
      @OregonTrailR 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well I guess if you're the type of guy that's concerned that people will think your "trailer" is too small, then you are well outside our target audience. Good luck to ya!

      I think these types of trailers are great for Wranglers since they don't have much cargo space. You kill 2 birds with one stone. You get cargo space and a clean warm place to sleep!

  • @MycketTuff
    @MycketTuff 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'd build one with enough space for a small wood burner, a chimney, 2-4 batteries, inverter and as big of a solar panel you could fit. A water filtration system running off a pump would be nice too. I want full SHTF preparation.
    Inspiring but not enough for my needs.

    It looks cool but being all black doesn't get really hot?

    • @OregonTrailR
      @OregonTrailR 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You would think so, but it's not the case. This LineX coating is a 1/4" thick and has an impressive R-value. Underneath the LineX on the roof is 1.5" of rigid insulation captured between 3mm baltic birch plywood, so it all adds up to a very well insulated space. We were on the road with this thing for a week traveling through hot weather, and it was always cooler inside than it was outside (during the day anyway).

    • @OregonTrailR

      Base price on DoDrop is $5,500, and is as simple as it gets. 2 doors with windows, passive roof vent, basic wheels/tires, raw aluminum exterior. We don't have the Alpha version in our quote request yet, we are still catching up from the week away at the Expo! Don't hesitate to give us a call or an email with any other questions!

  • @bryang2724
    @bryang2724 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    between the top of the trailer and the roof rack put a solar panel or two to keep the battery charged.

    • @OregonTrailR
      @OregonTrailR 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We never permanently install solar panels, partly because you generally want to park in the shade if possible, and also because the technology is moving so fast that whatever panel we install today will likely be obsolete in a couple years. Our solar package adds the necessary wiring, controller, and charging port, and our clients generally choose their own panel and cable to their liking, which can then be set in the sun at whatever angle you choose.

    $5500 base package for a micro trailer crazy. Let me check I can buy a utility trailer that's actually functional 6' x 10" for under 3K. I don't need your box on the front, with space that is many times larger and you can put a motorcycle inside of it and still have room. I think people get caught up on micro size with a maxi price and think it's correct.

    • @OregonTrailR

      Gerry Nightingale is clearly a top-tier troll, hell bent on looking as insane as possible, and he is doing a bang-up job of it. People who don't understand anything about material quality and craftsmanship should definitely do some research before commenting on the expense of our trailers. Kia and Mercedes both build cars, but they are in entirely different leagues, the same exists within the camper manufacturing industry.

      I saw an RPOD camper for $15,000. I like it for RV camping where there is a lot of room to move it around. But for exploring 20 miles deep into the back country on unmaintained trails with fallen trees every mile...I don't think the RPOD would last 2 seasons. But I do like the RPOD as a mini travel trailer. Who doesn't like a stand up shower!!!

      John Augustyniak you could buy a truck bed nylon tent by Napier outdoors for $300. but that's not really going to give you the options this trailer gives you. heck you can just throw a backpack on and walk into the forest....why even bother with a vehicle and a tent. just buy a $10 axe and chop down some trees and build a shelter.

    • @OregonTrailR
      @OregonTrailR 7 ปีที่แล้ว +48

    Cool, but it must be hot as a bitch when its in the sun with the all black coating

    • @OregonTrailR
      @OregonTrailR 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah because you need mud terrain tires on a non driving axle? I'm sure regular trailer tires wouldn't get you out of the mud!

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +86

      Most guys use same exact tires on trailers in case of an emergency on the main vehicle. They act as spares.

    I can`t get the concept. Small for even two persons, no w.c. no shower, no kitchen. If there are no advantages I prefer a cheap and light tent, in literally two seconds I have mine open.

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      newhuskytwenty until it rains or snows or both. I walked around in mud all day then had to crawl into a ground tent and somehow get dry and warm. tent camping is fun when the wearher is perfect. tent camping sucks when the weather shits on you.

      Sleeping in a nice warm dry cozy bed when a major storm rolls in doesn't seem useless to me. I have been caught in a ground tent in the mud and snow before. It wasn't fun and I was envious of the folks high and dry in their tear drops.

    Don't buy one! Build one. Way way less then $15000 and you can personalise it.
    I mean it looks cool and all but the practicality of this compared to a $5000 4x4 camping trailer second hand and then tricked out would trump this any day.

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Brendon Moore they actually said this one starts at $5500 brand new. you can trick it out piece by piece over time. I might try and buy a wells cargo tiny cargo trailer and build it into a camper just for fun.

      DONT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO ME , THAT PROBABLY SOUNDED RUDE IM JUST AN OLD WOMAN AND I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO THINK ABOUT DOING THAT AGAIN . LAST TIME I CAMPED WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO . AGAIN IM SO SORRY FOR THAT COMING OFF LIKE THAT . FORGIVE ME . IFI WAS GOING TO BUY ONE ITS ONE OF THE BETTER MADE TEARDROPS . LOOKS VERY WELL MADE AND STRONG FOR BACK COUNTRY .

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No worries. I think these types of campers are very user specific. If you are a casual camper this might not be the camper for you. a pop up tent camper might be a better option. But if you are adventurous and a bit of a back country explorer then this might a very good option especially if a bad storm rolls in.

    it's nicely made but pointless.... isn't it?
    i don't know....

    • @mixflip
      @mixflip  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      bipola telly a person who spends lots of time camping doesn't see it as pointless. there are bugs and snakes on the ground and wolves, mountain lions and bears in the forest...sleeping in a nylon ground tent at age 40 with a wife and kids is more fun and comfortable in one of these. plus they come in handy when the weather turns bad. plus it's a cargo trailer when you aren't sleeping in it so you can carry more supplies on long trips.

    • @OregonTrailR
      @OregonTrailR 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's certainly not for everyone, but it is perfect for many people. Our campers are for people who are sick of packing their rigs for every trip (and unpacking when they return), who don't enjoy setting up/tearing down tents, air mattresses, etc, who appreciate a warm, safe, dry spot with a comfortable bed each evening, etc. We have been booked out at least a year for 4 years running, it seems plenty of people seem to see the point in a camper like ours... But once again, to each their own.

  • @Deontjie

    Cool trailer, but......
    All trailers have the same problems.
    They are far too expensive.
    They are far too heavy.
    They are too much work.
    This trailer should cost around $3,000. And mass production could get it there. Then it can compare with sleeping in the back of your truck, or rooftop tent, or normal tent. So pricing it more competitively will sell more, and bring the price down. Then it will send more. And the price can come down. and it will sell better. Which will mean profits can be better.
    This trailer is not too much work, because it is only a strong rugged tent, already pitched, and attached to your truck.

      an brand new empty cargo trailer made for just the street will cost you $3000.
