    I looked Neko up. It means "cat" in Japanese. Pronounced like "neck-oh". Another great lesson, thanks Jonny.

    Great channel Jonny! This is, and has been a staple in California for many, many years. Out here we throw 5" senkos 95% of the time in clear to stained water and shaking your slack vigorously with pauses in between seems to work best. This technique works great from winter throughout the year, very versatile!

    Sometimes bass hit a crankbait when it starts coming up to the boat i think its that moment when a bass has to bite it or let it go. This can create that scenario over and over in the same cast. Great observation Johnny.

    Works good up shallow also, shake it to the top of the water and let it fall again. That way you appeal to bass at all levels of the water column in one cast

    We've been throwing the Neko Rig since the 80s. Wasn't developed in Japan. It's just a wacky rig that we nail weighted to get casting distance and a faster fall to get it down faster. Jimmy Houston laughs about the younger generation calling it a new rig.

    • @ejzabojnik834
      @ejzabojnik834 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the "Neko rig" ( NAME) may come from Japan but the wacky rig (US version) has been used for many years now.

    • @jamesbarron1202

      @@ejzabojnik834 that I know. There's no need to give them credit for a rig that was developed here in the U.S. I've been using it longer than probably most guys who watch this channel have been alive.

    Try fishing a Carolina rig instead of just draging it on the bottom. fast pops/jerks lifting the bait off the bottom some 5-6 ft then let it sit again again for a 1-2 seconds and repeat. I use this technique and the bass and smallies smash here up north. 3/4-1oz weight 3ft leader minimal, usually a a tube at the end. Imo it imitates a fleeing crayfish or bait fish perfectly.

    Hey man love your vids. I have a question about your new app, and it’s awesome! How more accurate is it compared to BassForecast? Seems that the two have a difference in bait choices. And some similarities. Do you consider yours more accurate than BassForecast? Just trying to figure out if I need both. Thanks bud.

    • @FishtheMoment
      @FishtheMoment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure how Bass Forecast makes their bait recommendations, but Deep Dive strategy recommendations are based on real tournament results from professional level tournaments. This means the strategies you get recommended have been used to finish at the top of a real fishing tournament. We then only select patterns that should work based on the current lake and weather conditions. Now there are still times when a pattern or bait won't work, but most of the time, each strategy you get recommended will work if you give it enough time.

    Jonny in the video you said you were using 20# braid to an 8# leader, but in the next sentence said the leader was 10#. No big deal but just curious as I am just getting into Neko fishing. I would guess super clear water might support the 8 # but especially deeper under normal conditions 10# PROBABLY WOULDN'T SCARE ANYBODY AWAY....?

      I don’t think so because when you twitch it, it bends in middle of the bait much more than TR. it’s all about the wacky type movement on the twitch because of where the hook placement is located. 🙂

Oh I ll just throw it sorry but that upsets me set the fish in the water like the rest of us do your gonna bust there swim bladder and kill the fish yes I know they jump but they have control of how they enter the water unlike when you just through them in from six feet
