Pinion seal fail for 2 reasons /general wear or pinion bearings are collapsing . Collapsed bearings need a diff overhaul . Only if the seal is worn should it be replaced by itself . Most seals that leak will have excessive wear on the diff yoke as well . This will need speedi sleeve or welding with machine work or to be replaced . . To prevent leaks apply sealant inside yoke [splines] and use a new nut .
