I hated doing LDF connectors without the rotary prep tool; I used to work at it with a pair of small side cutters and a razor knife. It took almost a year to convince managment to let me buy the right tools from Andrew.
It makes all the difference doesnt it. Just getting the jacket off is frustrating. I may do a video on doing one with just hand tools. I have some new ideas I'm experimenting with. Thanks for watching !
Someone shot your coax?!! Installing the connectors on Heliax are so much easier than prepping it. I have 3/4" running to my 2m/70cm antenna due to the length of the run, that transitions to 1/2" which I have the tools to install connectors on (not the fancy stripper you have - DX Engineering makes a cheaper one that works just as well).
Yes a spent 762x39 on a descending trajectory took out the HF station for a location we are responsible for . The feedlines run horizontal in a truss arrangement that supports multiple antennas on a multi story commercial structure. It just happened to land precisely into almost the center of that feedline missing the 15 or so other feedlines and the truss. We found it using the distance to fault measurement on the Bird SiteHawk which was accurate to less than a foot from the point of measurement. I know the tool you are speaking of. Thanks for watching !
Mine came with the Prep tool years ago. You can do it with a plastic putty knife. I found the tool website : lemco-tool.com/product/center-conductor-cleaners/ Thanks for watching !

Caught a stray bullet? wish I could say I haven’t seen that before
Yes a spent 762x39. Impressive it had the punch to penetrate like that. Thanks for watching !
Looks like you may have done that a time or two!
A few times. It's fun with the roto-prep. Doing it with handtools not so much. Thanks for watching !
