Reducing the sharp angles helps so much that many folk just can't believe or understand until they've seen it or tried it. Thank you for this lovely explanation video 👍
I have never considered using a figure 8 on a bight or bowline when building a wire antennas. Great idea. I really like that antenna insulator design. Merry Christmas sir!
Hi Brett. Thank you for that - love the rethreaded figure of eight knot. Best wishes for the coming New Year - may you have health, wealth and happiness. May your next year be better than this one! Nigel.
Great way to show the knots - thanks! NOW, how about doing a video of JUST the knots? I'll guess that most of us here use the "If you can't tie a knot; tie a lot" method. (-:
Knots are fun. Three half hitches stacked and tied in the SAME direction can get you out of most trouble and never tie a knot you cannot untie. A knots video is a great idea. I actually have a card game where you draw a card and have to tie the knot on the card. That is one of the best ways to learn a family of knots. Thanks for watching !
@@survivalcomms And if you do a video on knots, make it SurvivalComms related stuff, e.g. "I just threw a line in a tree to support an inverted V antenna. How do I ..."
Those knots are permanent, sucks if you have to adjust the length. I usually wrap the wire around itself and use a screw clap to secure it. Worked so far.
They aren't permanent they are actually easy to untie. If I had to " adjust" the antenna after construction and initial tune it means there is something wrong with the antenna or installation. Thanks for watching !
@@galileo_rs I tie knots in military phone wire often and dont bother heat shrinking it. The bowline works great with WD1A . I have a WD1A doublet up that is held together with bowlines. It survived the hurricane whereas 20+ of my trees didnt. Give it a shot !
@@survivalcomms Local variety of that wire seems identical (except for the colour) so that's great, I will have to try as soon as the spring comes. Thanks.
Great video. Well done sharing the magic of wire antennas. I keep my 160m loop and 160m Carolina Windom up with methods simular to yours. 73

@@survivalcomms I will have to try that with the wire that I'm using (surplus military field telephone wires). If it works it will be great.
