Very respectful power NA, but with M1 fuel a man could threw every dab of boost at her and just made more power simply adding pounds and pounds of boost on M1... I may actually try a setup like that with a nice BIG turbo. For all that matter a fella should be able to run even more compression with a turbo and all the boost on alcohol.
@@stevenminix This is the first I've heard of anybody who wants high-compression in a forced-induction car. It defeats the purpose. All the extra air being slammed into the cylinders need a reduction in compression. Too much explosion, and boom! Something terrible happens.
Great thing about laying rubber at 0:32 is it's done all on motor. Both tires. No braking. No power adder. Just BB sized cubes, good airflow, higher street compression, and skinny pedal to the floor. This is why old school big block muscle cars were/are so loved in America!
You could run 89 octane if the compression was a bit less but I run 94. The 408 is made from a 351 windsor block bored .030 with a 4" stroke crankshaft.
@@Lonnielove803 What he has going is going to be spendy. IF you want a Windsor stroker it’s technically, a little over the cost of a rebuild. You just have to ensure all parts will be happy together.
Thanks! The car has bbk 1 3/4 longtubes (probably a bit small for the motor but thats all I could fit), a custom 3" x-pipe, and 3" flowmasters with 3" mac tailpipes.
Nice setup. I loved my 351 Foxbody, fun to drive, tons of torque. It was a Holley Carb setup which I loved. But I think EFI is just so far advanced now that you're crazy if you don't run it. Espeically if you get good at tuning and learn. But I love your car, man. Good luck with it.
@CoqLateralLimit, I agree. I know I did some research on it and considering the light nature of the car a 408W stroker is doable but 400hp is about the max rear wheel hp you can run. So I was looking at a 425hp 347 stroker which should be good. The camshaft is a custom grind from Comp, they modified a Xtreme energy hyd roller for 2000-6000 rpm range from 110* LSA to 112* LSA for more vacuum for use with fuel injection. I hope I can get atleast 12mpg city and 20mpg highway.
I use to build turbo low ten second street vw .s and do that and pull the wheel on the street never again on the street all most took out three cars make the power put it on the track before your luck runs out be safe. great ride good build.
Impressive mile per hour! with that kind of MPH you should be in the 10.6 to 10.5 quarter mile et! need to get that 60 ft time into the low 1.4 second range and you will be in the 10.60s for sure! very nice ride well done!
@theantinignog No I ran around 30 degrees total timing (so about 4 more than stock total) and probably could have run a bit more as the timing mark on the spark plug was still decent.
@tjo11918 Ya, it had the 90mm with 42s. To keep it under stock hood I had a custom elbow made. Since it won't let me post on here I'll message you the build thread with a lot more info.
Can you share the details and pics of the custom fabrication to get your 408 to fit under a factory hood. Please send to Donta.Seales@gmail.com thanks in advance.
Nice notch! Got a tigh lash solid roller in my 93gt, pump gas afr205s with victor jr with a pro systems 950. Drive it every day its nice out.. besides the can at idle runs n drives like a stock fox. N/A it went 10.64 @ 126 drivibg it to the track lol. Search stroker mustang vs. Nitrous camaro. Thats me
you can use a a mid 22x intake duration with about 8 degrees overlap and 8 degree split, that the shorter intake will bring torque in sooner but the overlap will stil help scavenge and if you tighten up the LSA you can use the tight LSA and exhaust timing to push power out farther into the rev range. What you get is a car that sounds like a big cam car, makes early torque like a medium sized cam and makes big cam late power too. Again this on the long runner ls stuff, just what I have found.
BEST EXHAUST SOUND I'VE HEARD!! Car sounds and runs great, which flowmasters are you running, and what software did you tune it with, building a 427 for my SN95 and could use some good info!! THX!
@bocastongum Yes I did last year with a different 408. Back when I dynoed it, it was only 9.5 to 1 with a small hydraulic cam. This year it's 11.5 to 1 with a solid roller. Were you there at the time?
It has a 408 on it, plus i'm sure it has a few bolt ons atleast, I can almost promise you hes putting down a mean 425-475 at the wheels, and massive torque.
Just an oppinion, but when you sstart adding more durration to get that extra power and higher RPM, you loose area under the curve and the cam becomes peaky and high. In a primarily driven street car most people would care more about a solid power and torque number in the driving window than a high and showy number so far up the rev range that is makes the car less fun to drive and actually slower in practical use. That is why i would choose a milder cam like this for a street car.
very nice car. I have just one question and not as a jerk. but in that burn out witch was very cool. with a stick shift how come there are no skips inbetween shifts ? and again not being a jerk.
I actually run it on good 'ol 94 octane. There is no pinging or det. whatsoever, the cam is big enough to bleed off some compression but still make good power. I bet on your setup you would probably pickup by going down to a lower octane.
Robert Touchstone you must was a girl in your previous life lol. This car sounds amazing so good that you and me are still making it relevant after almost 10 YEARS LATER!!!! Omg 😲 I love this car if I was a truck I’d marry her😍
Is I always dreamed of taking my Fox back to the 1960s or 70's. What would they have thought, Grumpy bill, Bob Glidden??? My little 3200 pound car 302 T5 running 10.89. Lol
94. You can Google VP or Sunoco octane to compression ratios. It'll give you a list of what are good comp ratios to run with pump gas. I believe 93 is good for 11-12:1 cr though.
Could I get more info on the throttle body elbow and binary editor ?Im assuming you are running a 90mm throttle body with 42lb injectors. What all did you have to do to keep it under the stock hood? Im currently building a 408 myself with afr205s and probe rotating assembly. Im trying to chose an intake and I love the price and looks of yours, very clean and uncluttered. Thanks
Why only 6800? Cam seems like it would go higher than that, you've got the intake and valvetrain to support it. What is the lobe separation angle? Maybe the 5.0 and SBF stuff cam's different. But it seems like if the ports are good enough then it would continue to make power.
No blower, no turbo, no bottle......just pure pushrod Ford torque!!
The best.
I woulda ran that high compression motor with a turbo and on M1 fuel (alcohol)......
Very respectful power NA, but with M1 fuel a man could threw every dab of boost at her and just made more power simply adding pounds and pounds of boost on M1... This is literally my favorite coupe on you tube.
I always find myself back watching this! What a glorious machine.
What a beautiful Mustang, absolutely love the sound of the 408!
It's an AEM wideband and yes I would definitely recommend it. We run them in all our cars and they've never let us down!

This is by far my favorite Fox video. I've been coming back to watch this video for years. Such a beautiful machine. Very skilled driving as well. 💯💯
Thanks! The cam is a billet XR292, 254/260 duration @ .050, and .621/.627 lift.
sweet ride, and great strip run too, she hooks and cooks when it's time. Smoked that shitbox GM turkey.

It's actually an aftermarket ford racing T56. It has a bit of a stronger output shaft, and the ratios are a bit nicer.
