Great on you man! I hope you are studying outside of Duolingo aswel as it isn’t the best app to JUST learn , you should learn in workbooks too! But congrats man, I’m currently learning français!
Thanks :) I did realise that, so I primarily use Duolingo to supplement my Italian (which I learn at school) these days. But even when learning German, I did also try to speak German whenever I had the chance to any German people I knew, and watch German videos on TH-cam, etc. Good luck with français! 🇨🇵
@@FVFAMlLY Je voudrais apprendre le français aussi, mais maintenant, je dois apprendre l'italien. I take Italian at school, so I should probably focus on that for now.. my French is terrible, but hopefully in the future, I can spend some time learning it!
That's okay! I'm at 1,569 days now 😄 Danke schön! Jetzt lerne ich Italienisch, aber ich möchte auch mein Deutsch zu verbessern.. weil es nicht so gut ist 😅
Really? I don't think so 😅 But thank you! I learnt non-stop for about 1.5 years, then more passively since then. Throughout this time, pronunciation has been a major focus, at the expense of my listening skills.
How fluent would you say you are in each language that you’ve learned? I’ve studied Spanish on it for 1 1/2 years and I am almost as fluent as my English
Hi there, that's a great question! For German and Italian, I would say conversational with some occasional issues, and depending on the topic. Perhaps in the ballpark of A2-B1. For the rest (Chinese, French, etc.) just a basic knowledge. I can recognise words occasionally, but beyond that not much l very much (it doesn't help that I haven't been that consistent in these other languages)
In German, back when I practiced more often I got to around an A2 level I would say - nearly conversational. But, my listening was a bit lacking. With that being said, I've never taken any proper German test or any German classes. That is just Duolingo, and exposing myself to German media. And, I've also learnt the basics of a few other languages, but nothing significant. You can definitely get to a decent level with Duolingo and other language supplements, but you won't be perfect, and definitely not fluent. After finishing the German Duolingo course, I recall being lost as to what to do next, and that led to me sort of stop learning German. So, you really have to have other methods of learning to get past the Intermediate stage.
That's great! I don't really remember the early stages of learning German. I just did a little bit everyday, and eventually I found myself being able to sort of speak German. It's totally worth it! Mach weiter so!
Hello, I would say it was intermediate (almost conversational) My speaking, reading and writing were a lot better than my listening however. If I had to guess, my level would be around A2. Since then, I have stopped learning German however.
