Got one on the way! I have several versions of the stretch and I actually like the original blade shape a lot. It’s part of what originally attracted my towards the stretch model

Yeah, when I saw these I was like that's not a stretch! I hope they are doing it to give us value, not to give them more profit.

That Delica is a Dragonfly 😋 But back to the business - once you get enough use out if it - please make a comparison to PM2, that would be awesome.

    • @itsaknifestyle8482
      @itsaknifestyle8482  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah that’s gonna be a fun video to make. I haven’t carried the stretch yet but my initial impressions are telling me I might trigger some PM2 fanboys🤫

Just got mine today! I like how it was packed compared to other Spyderco knives. They cared enough to coat the blade and put a desiccant in the bubble wrap. I plan to let it naturally patina. We’ll see how it goes.

    • @itsaknifestyle8482

I have a couple of patina spots because I spilt sweet tea on it but other than that I haven’t noticed anything😂 Thanks for watching

Spyderco killed their ZDP-189 for K390. The ladybug, manbug, dragonfly, delica, endela, endura, police 4 & stretch 2 are all regular production, non-sprint run knives. All of which are in K390.
While even uglier... I was a fan of the cutting sweep of bullnose or upturned or regular stretch blade shape. I'm excited to get my hands on a full sized Spyderco in K390 with a 50/50 choil... At least one that doesn't have a 4.25" blade. Not a fan of anything that folds and has a blade over 4"... Excluding the Spyderco K2
Rumor has it that the Seki K390 hovers around 64.5-65 HRC. But I don't know that 100%. I think seeing 65 HRC on K390 for under $150 would be stellar, that's alot of performance for the money
Fun fact : K390 came from the mining industry, the teeth of those giant drills, used for drilling through mountains are made of K390

That’s awesome that K390 is going to be an easy steel for people to get.
Talking about HRC, I noticed that my stretch deburred very well and felt like me SPK Sasquatch (M4 @ 65-66 HRC). Thanks for watching

Re: the blade spine on the k390 stretch 2.
That is the finish that a laser or plasma cutter leaves in steel. I think it is interesting that it is the only surface on the blade that hasn't been abraded in some manner.
    I like my k390 stretch 2 a lot.

Disassembly and cleaning K390 knives is important to prevent corrosion. The light weight Para3 style handle at $140 would be fantastic. I agree completely that everyone should try K390. I have the PM2 in K390 and love it. Thanks again for the video 😎👍

I really like the blue look. TBH I really like the look overall, and I agree that the back lock is not that big of a deal. Don't think I can justify yet another Spydie at this point but this one seems like a good option.

Simplicity works, is how we can describe this knife. I think it should be in the regular Spyderco lineup with the straight spine.

I think it’s plenty good looking and of quality. But I like the look of most spyderco’s and think other brands are weird looking lol. This is designed to be a hunting knife. I got mine for breaking down elk in the field. It checks all the boxes for doing this.

Got one of these in earlier this week and there was a noticeable burr still on the edge. It came off pretty easily with some passes on an ultrafine rod and then on a strop but I was still somewhat annoyed. The body screws weren't tightened down quite all the way and there's some vertical play like the lockback isn't engaging properly. Overall not thrilled with the state of the knife but that's how it goes sometimes. Still gonna keep it and use it. The Seki City models just don't have the QC that Golden and Taichung have.

I have an Endura which I like a lot. Its in VG10. I am going to the Factory outlet store to see if they have the stretch; based on your review I will probably like it. Thanks for the review, and helping me find a way to lighten my wallet 😎

In these Spyderco Seki-City K390 with back lock there is a noticeable blade play up and down?

The original Stretch blade profile is the better looking version. The straight spine is nearly a stand in for a back lock PM2.
