    This looks like it would take months, if it's even possible after my first couple attempts with my cat freaking out. Good luck if your cat needs this NOW, like mine.

    For play motivated kittens and cats, you can have playtime after introducing the mask

    Thank you for this because my cat HATES the chamber but is vey food motivated. I just don’t hav a clicker or things like that. She puts her face in cups for water so I’m thinking she doesn’t mind small spaces for her face, but to replace water with treats and see what happens.

    About how long should the introduction process take? My vet said he needs to start the medication straight away.

    What would be a good cue for a deaf cat? Ours have no hearing, so its a bit hard to use a clicker..

    Our cat wants nothing to do with this. We are working on training. The problem is he needs his asthma medication NOW! If it takes a few weeks or even a month then he has NO medication. So far he refuses and wrapping him in a towel results in growling and attempts at biting. He does like treats but he’s not interested in working for them.

  • @SummerRain-i5p

    My cat doesn’t want anything to do with this. He needs his meds so we attempted to towel and restrain him. That didn’t work he started growling and my husband got scared. I can’t restrain and administer medication myself. Now he’s traumatized and hiding under a bed.

      There’s no way to force them without upsetting them. If he’s not having horrible asthmatic coughing fits, then do like the video says and take things slowly. My cat is scared of the inhaler. But he’s also pretty motivated for treats. So I am gonna start working with him on this each day when I get home from work, when I know he’s happy to see me and also hungry. I plan to use the Churu soft squeeze treats and just give him small bites at a time when he does something good. My cat coughs once or twice a day but I know forcing him to stick his face in the inhaler would be even more upsetting to him. Good luck with your kitty.

    How long does the mask need to stay on the cat’s face? How many breaths? I’ve been training my cat to lick Churus from inside the mask. Can they lick the mask and still inhale the medication?

    • @ailidh-Bcn
      @ailidh-Bcn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      if the valve is moving it means the cat is breathing so I guess he is breathing it, about breaths I heard is 10 to 15, 10 breath is enough but 15 is better if you can.
      if you teached him to lick from inside the mask, now when he doesn't use the mask, put it on his face without using it, and after, give him churus to lick directly from the package, so he will associate the use of the mask with the treat, and not from licking it,but only give him the treat when he doesn't lick it

    This is slightly delusional. This would take a long time for a cat to be trained on this. By the time you order this, the cat needs his doses ASAP. No time for training. It’s a struggle every time.

    • @TrudellAnimalHealth

      Hello - We know it's hard to believe but most cats learn to do this in just 4-6 days (check out the data to support this statement on our website). We completely agree that getting your cat to take the medication so they can feel better is critical; we hope you will trust the thousands of cat parents that use the AeroKat* when their cat is needing their emergency inhaler or for treatment of a flare-up, and try it out. Wishing your little one a quick recovery!

      @@TrudellAnimalHealth It's the vets who prescribe it and say to start it immediately. Several had said that here and that's what I'm dealing with as well. Frustrating when it clearly will work best if the training is not rushed.

      You might need to have someone else hold her while you apply the mask to her face for the prescribed duration so she gets the medication she needs. I think these are good tips and tricks but it does look like it would take a long time to train a cat to be comfortable with it.
