Not to make this injustice any less but another terribly harmful thing to him was smoking cigarettes. He might have avoided lung cancer and lived much longer had he quit early enough or not started at all. It was so unnecessary of him to die as young as 60.

@@peterfraney7931 Yeah - *WRONGFULLY* fvcking acquitted!!!!....
And it IS a horrific fvcking travesty of "(IN)justice" - the pigs involved literally acted with absolutel impunity, knowing that the Government of the day would back them up to the hilt at all costs, and basically acted with the attitude that "Any bunch of Paddy's will do to convict for this"....
The people who actually carried out that horrific bombing were caught attempting something else; knew their gooses were cooked anyway; so they ACTUALLY CONFESSED IN FULL TO THE GUILFORD BOMBING, and said "you've got a bunch of completely innocent people, who aren't even IRA members or supporters in prison for something that they had nothing to do with!!", and they provided details only the actual bombers would have known to prove what they were saying - the authorities, including the Government of the day, in Britain didn't want to hear it, because then they'd have had to admit that they fvcked up - especially when one of the innocent DIED in their prison!!!...

One of the most stirring endings to any movie I've ever seen. The movie itself along the way was often excruciating, but it is so worth it.

One of my favorite movies and one of the most powerful scenes in movie history. It’s a shame more people don’t know this story. Truly powerful.

Just saw this movie-magnificent. From the intricate emotional connection between a son and his father, to the chilling display of injustice, I’m caught speechless. Cannot believe the police didn’t have to face legal consequences for such horrid wrongdoings. This is such a bittersweet ending.

Just think, if that security guard did not report for work. The treasonous deception would have gone on. I just wondered how many intelligence resources was wasted covering up this atrocity? How many lives.
BTW Love the music choice that the director made.

I had the audacity years ago to say that Daniel Day-Lewis was not a good actor...I was a bit blown away that he won 3 Oscars and Robert De Niro only won 2! BUT in my defence I was about 12 years old and didn't know my arsehole from my elbow! And then...
I saw him in Gangs of New York and THIS FILM and Last of the Mohican - NOW whenever I watch him I don't see Daniel Day-Lewis EVER...I just see the character!
Some people say method acting is mental but I say it's a wholesome form of absolute dedication to your craft! It means you're taking it seriously! I bet most of you are with me guys when I say that there's nothing worse than when you're seeing a brilliant or tragic story portrayed by an actor who doesn't do it justice! Just imagine for example Gangs of New York WITHOUT Daniel Day-Lewis...nowhere near as good a film is it?!?!
That's why I agree that the acting industry SHOULD BE one of the hardest industries to enter because we want the best of the best! Don't we guys?!
Daniel Day-Lewis was ROBBED in Gangs of New York!

The tragedy is that English and Irish can never be under the same government not because of language, culture or distance but because an Irishman will never get a fair trial at the hands of an English jury or legal system.
