Another flaw with devour is if you’re a new player and don’t know anything about the game and you get devour you won’t realise you’re able to do anything else with the bodies (this is entirely personal experience talking)

Disagree, 20 mind is a significant cost if you are not using the infinite mind exploits. Lockpicking is S tier because it helps in a major way when your character is weak and only gets less useful once you know more about the game, and at that point Phase Step wins you any run so you need no further help.
@@TheSeth256lockpick is useful for newbie but leg sweep is useful for newbie and vets so i think putting lockpick at b is good enough
This is actually true in real life too.
I used to write about lock picking and security for a living, and it turns out that a vast majority of burglars/criminals have no idea how to pick locks because 9 times out of 10 you can just kick the door in. It's kinda surprising tbh. Also, get good doors for your house.

You are almost correct! I'd say
D = don't use this, it's never gonna be the best solution
C = there are some very specific situations in which these can do something with a lot of investment
B = ok skills with good amount of usages
A = Fantastic skills
S = must

En Garde needs to be an S tier cause it can trivialise every single fight in the game except for the boss batles(if you get timing right, you can press shift before boss battle and it will work), so you won't risk losing limbs or something AND it gives you small speed boost so backtracking will last less.
Also it gives you free turn to set up Fast Attack.
That's actually false, the bossfights on which en garde works are very limited! On majority of them en garde doesn't work! But still I understand your reasoning for the other points, at the start I wanted to make it an S tier as well, but then considering everything I decided having advantage against already perfectly honest fights that you can win no damage regardless is strong, but not S level
I call the infinite food and mind exploit the jesus mode, since you make wine out of water, multiply the breads and also is the place where you can walk on water, there are truly no coincidences

Reasons why the Phase Step is the best skill in-game:
-you can skip multiple doors including the penance armor one
-allows you to safely skip all instant kill traps on level 9 the body of the god of the depts aka amazing if you are having fps problems with the game like how most new players are having
-saves a run if your character gets stuck on the multiple glitched ''fake walls'' the game has
-allows you to IGNORE walk on water the most useless skill(damn thing makes you CONSTANTLY have to press more buttons to refill your water/while bottles, not horrible but extremely annoying for a skill that was gonna be used ONCE)
-can be used to do some sick speedruns
-you can collect a bunch of not accessible treasures in Ma'habre for runs you didn't got the passages of Ma'habre
-you can collect the Blue Sin the best sword in the game for free(at the cost of never returning to the second part of the mines aka a place with very small amounts of loot, and that such loot can be all acquired before doing this anyway)
-you can collect the miasma another good sword by just ignoring the door, aka getting an op item in the first minutes of the game lol(give to a skeleton or Le'guard)
-instantly get combustion and the op loot from 2 lizard man as soon as you enter the mines
-you can get the infamous not reachable soul stone that is located bellow the king
-will add more stuff here once I remenber lol
Completely true and I agree, BUT!
I still think it's a mistake!
It also allows you to skip Nameless statue and get straight into where the King's passage key is. It's the most broken skill that can save any run, totally worth being S-tier.
I don't think he was arguing that it's not strong but rather that it feels more like a debug tool left in the game by accident almost rather than a legitimate option meant to be considered evenly against other skills lol
I think it also mess a lot whit what fear and hunger should be. Yeah, transmutation give you infinite mind/food/healt but only because you can exploit the game mechanics.
Phase step is like Bethesda console commands TCL which let you get trough across everything. Mostly used for cheat rather than for a common play through.
Getting blue sins with phase step is kinda terrible idea as not only you cut 1 area but the biggest disadvantge is lose the chance of getting yggaetsu chams which is one of the best accesory especially with eastern sword

@@frapollo94 you could also rank them both based on how good their desing is (mechanics, aesthetics, lore)/how much you like them and based on how difficult they are relative to what point in the game you are likely to face them (name the top tier crow mauler), and put the supposed to be impossible things in their own category, double the video ideas

Counter is actually pretty decent. Iirc it lasts the entire match when cast, and iirc against certain attacks that hit multiple times you also counter multiple times. Love the video btw!
Yeah I see what you mean, the real problem is it's easier to win without getting hit!

@@frapollo94 I thought there were multiple fights where you can't avoid being hit by attacks that can be countered like chambara (I think or does he constantly use a non-physical attack)

The best weapons/characters/armors/trinckets combo IMO for the game is:
-MC Mercenary:
Sergal Spear, Iron mask, Plate armor or penance armor set with crow mauler soul
when you kill Isahia and use steal you will get a fast attack(double attack) scroll for MC.
-Moonless:
make her pee 20 times, the game has like 30 locations so super easy to do it, also she never pees in Ma'habre for some reason they are all in the dungeon, you will have a character that applies bleeding and stunning all the time and of course, she can eat all rotten food in-game with no problems plus always double attack, teach her black orb and you got a character that uses 2 black orbs all the time, completely insane for bosses.
If you are low on mind supplies nothing happens if she gets 0 mind.

I would also teach combustion to Moonless, so she can use it while she has 0 mind, apply burn early on and you get to have a fire breathing doggo.

I would have thought Mastery Over Insects would have been A tier for giving you infinite blue vials. Sure you can achieve the same effect via loving whispers+infinite wine vials, but that also locks up your main character, and requires 2 combat actions to do.
Blue vials only heal 20 hp regardless, you may say that with alchemillia vol 3 they become light blue vials, BUT, first of all you need an empty scroll for mastery, second you need to find the vol 3. I precised I would have used also accessibility as a parameter
I wouldn't have been able to finish my Terror & Starvation playthrough without Locust Swarm but i did get it from an empty scroll so i get your point😅
Yeah it's still a very good spell, but not considering accessibility on it would've been pretty bad imo!
A good habit to get into Devour. For map interactions hold your interact key, not only does it let you roll through text you don't want to or have already read, but holding it means you won't accidentally tap it when a menu pops up at the end of text Bare in mind that context menus "pause time" until you choose an option. Saved a few runs with Ragnvaldr when i planned on going through the torture room to get to Grif- i mean... Le'garde.
I suspect the intent with the counter magic yellow mage was that they would use hurting on themselves, but because miro couldn't get it working, it's now canon that hurting cannot be countered.

En garde should definitely be S -tier just because how powerful it is outside of bosses. Especially since it lets you kill enemies like moonless guard without taking damage.
Yeah I see what you mean, and at the start I wanted to place it in S, but the more I thought about it, the more I considered being able to kill moonless guards without damage isn't so essential, and I know in that case you may consider for example even black orb not an S tier, as on bosses it may be sometimes less useful, but that damage is still good for the cost you pay!
@@frapollo94 Instead of using moonless guard as an example, I probably should have said that it's good because it lets you just focus torso and kill enemies without worrying about any attacks beyond death. But I definitely understand your reasoning why it's A-tier

I agree with most of these, but I can't believe he put Blood Sacrifice so low. It was my go to skill in all my S ending runs if I found a single empty scroll. You want as many soul stones as you can for other skills or weapon enchants, and this one ability basically gives you the whole Grogoroth tree for free. Necromancy is incredible, Blood Golem a life saver and Black Orb a great damage dealer, and you can have them all for a negligible hp cost, allowing you to spend your soul stones and ritual circle prayers on Allmer and Sylvian sooner. Definite S tier for me.
I can explain it better, as i said for certain skills I'm considering accessibility, and blood sacrifice is random. Also getting groggy affinity is very easy, and the dungeon is full of soul stones!

8:14 actually works on elite guard, just for some reason the elite guard near to the Le'garde cell is bugged
He is also inmune to bear trap and if you cut any limb of him, will get them back if you escape
Edit: actually elite guards are bugged a lot, but still you can kill them sometimes with marksmanship

Marksmanship should be the last A tier because it let's you do incredible things without rng. If you kill the dark priest, take a soul stone, learn it, then you are set up for Ragna S ending. You can kill the Black Witch without having even arm guards or the salmonsnake. Then you can get the better equipment and defeat everyone easyyy thanks to Marksmanship
The point is you can't defeat "everyone" easy with that! As I mentioned majority of difficult enemies aren't killable with it!

In my last game, I took Pheromones. Then game afterwards said I did not know Pheromones, while the Hexen said that I had already purchased/learned it. RIP.
It's a bug, don't exit from the hexen too fast after you learn the skill
I just thought about something. Is the Demon Kid Guts? I mean he's quite literally born from a corpse and one of the key things you acknowledge about him is that he looks like he would grow up to be a powerful warrior if he lives that long.
Honestly I like the interpretation, but I think you are reading a little bit too much into it
@@frapollo94 Perhaps, but it almost feels like they added Demon Kid solely for this reason, he doesn't have any real purpose in the games besides being a disposable alternative for the girl, who in and of herself is rather disposable if you're going for anything but ending A. On top of that, Ragnvaldr's story covers a lot of references to the Berserk story, especially Le'Garde's slaughter and ascension. But if that's the in game representation for the end of the Golden Age arc, then Demon Kid could be viewed as an in game representation as the beginning of the arc
If you could show love to ghouls to form marriages, then if you use Necromancy to stimulate Alll Mer's corpse while finding a way to move his corpse onto a ritual circle and then show love with Alll Mer's corspe... what would you get?

Quick question tho, with God Affinity, can you repeat the feast with Wolf Mask to get max Gro-Goroth? Same thing with Sylvian and Bunny Mask? Or does it only increase affinity the first time you partake?

About the masks yes! You can repeat their feast multiple times, but after the first one there will be a coinclip, and if you fail it you die!

Bloodlust in termina is actually ACTUALLY fun to use 🙏with a very fun build consisting of Double Longinus/Blood sword(+40% attack) + Bloodlust(+50% attack) and you can add adrenaline rush(+30% attack by turn 4 but you can reduce it to 3) on top of that for more damage and if you truly wanna go all out use heroin(+30% attack) too, A lot of people sleep on the best weapon in the game ;( double longinus 🙏

Yeah you can use leechmonger for big heals or yggaegetsu for crits, extra turn to have 1 free bloodlust attack or bob and weave to dodge most attacks
You can always use goul for a marriage which is really good

Also, adding insult to injury, Needle Worm _also_ gives you a parasite, meaning you get hungry faster unless you're willing to burn a Worm Juice AND White Vial right after to get rid of the poison.

I can explain my friend, Phase is in D cause of my personal protest, it shouldn't exist at all imo! Otherwise if i considered it without this protest it would be over S tier!
phase step is glitched and it can corrupt your save file. That's why it's in D tier
@@thechosenone5421 It can not "corrupt" your save file, the closest I could see is someone being dumb enough to use a Book of Enlightenment while in a wall. It is jank but don't lie.

Hey Frapollo! Love the content and the direction you've taken the channel :). I Honestly might put En Guard in S tier, because when paired with Escape Plan you can literally cheese every non-boss enemy (en guard -> attack on free turn -> escape at start of first real turn). This allows you to essentially do everything non-boss related with no risk at all - but its kind of a lame way to play the game.
Tbf though if En Guard was put into S tier I think an S+ category would have to be made for skills like Dash which are clearly much more necessary anyway
I was thinking as well to put it into S tier, but then trying to balance even considering the other stuff in S tier, I eventually decided to put it in A!

For now my expertise is F&H1, but with the time I am studying termina!
I consider En Garde S tier because it can be activated mid convo, so you can use it to do additional turn on boss battle as long as combat hasn't been triggered yet when interacting with the event when timed right.
I agree! Point is there are bosses such as chambara, valteil, skin granny, final boss of ending B, very important fights on which it doesn't work! And if you add the marriage bug I think it stays well in A tier!
Mastery over insect allows you to not take damage in lv8 or lv9. One insect in present mahabre will also give you infinite blue vial, combine them with achemillia vol3 and late game you will have infinite healing vial that cost nothing and heals for 80.
Also, Loving whisper cost 120 mind to heal everyone for 80 while Healing whisper heal cost 90 mind to heal everyone for 90 so it is more cost efficient outside of battle.
Damage not taken is insignificant as you can literally just look to dodge the insects, the infinite blue vial wasn't considered for this tier list, and even if it was, mastery would've been at max B as you still need to consume an empty scroll for mastery and then find completely randomly alchemilla vol 3!
Outside battle healing is irrelevant (almost considering that there is a guaranteed way to get infinite mind), you'll almost never be in a situation where everyone has low health, unless you played in a very weird way, which reduces the utility of healing whispers, there are like 3 AOE in the game, all which do like 10 damage, so healing whispers is much much more situational!
Counter magic on the yellow mage is not a bug, is actually a mechanic. Before it casts hurting, he says: "you can try to wiggle, but your destiny remains the same!" So it basically ignores your counter magic as it only negates lesser spells
Nah I don't buy that, as it also says you destroy their magic right before that phrase, so yellow mage with that phrase is just saying the "you can do whatever you want, but I'll win" moment

8:10 It's possible to kill the elite guard that can spawn near the entrance with the black mages with marksmanship, though considering you can't kill the elite guard outside le'garde's cell with it I wonder if it's a funne bug or actually intentional
You're right! But at the current state that isn't enough for me to like marksmanship more!

The ability to just clean house in the overworld gives such a feeling of power and authority that playing a run without it almost feels like something’s missing no matter how geared up I am.
Quick question, is Combustion's backfire bugged to not blow up your limbs or is it only arms or something? I rarely used on my main character because of that. Usually I give it to moonless or to the girl
Combustion doesn't have any drawbacks! The backfire is just flavor text!

I first played Fear & Hunger on the Steam Deck and the hexen table was impossible to use. Guess who never knew about blood portal or any other banger skills because I couldn't get access to them. 8')

Considering you can prevent the coinflip, dying to it is a skill issue

Extra turn every turn! En Garde is the skill that gives 1 new turn at the start of the battle!
Chains of Torment is S tier. I love this one
Was suprised when you put en garde at A and then i think about that while A ranking has the "always useful but has some caveats stuff" but S has that "always useful everywhere no matter what ability" which is why i decide A is a good spot
Yeah exactly I think you understood why, en garde is very good, and probably is the best A tier I gave, but unfortunately it can't be used on some very important bosses. Otherwise it would've been one of the strongest S tiers

I might be incorrect here, but Pyromancy Trick has a much better chance at hitting the head, allowing a reasonable chance to kill Guards and some enemies (Night Lurches) immediately

I have an idea for a challange how about a run where soul stone is ban except blood portal to make traveling easier?
I gave black orb to the girl and it made me feel like a proud father
Pheremones is great but only when you have party members or blood golem, so I would drop it to A. Speaking of Blood Golem, on accesability rating, it's a 1 tier so even players who don't know this game inside and out can get it easily. Plus the best thing to use pheromones on. It should get the tier point pheremones lost.
Even pheromones is a 1 tier, but still. I would agree if getting party members was difficult!
