I’ve always loved the idea of this ship because both of them are quite angry with life, but they express it in different ways. Uramichi is a lot quieter when it comes to anger, meanwhile Kikaku struggles to hold it back. The two of them really do have so much in common

I'd understand some people seeing it as platonic if they didn't literally draw his heart doors opening every time and only when kaiku was around no one would have said that if one of them was a girl. Also in the last episode when uramichi said "why is he saying stuff that strangely draws my attention today of all days?" he obviouly expected something romantic climatic enough for a last episode
As much as I want to agree (and my fujoshi ass really wants to agree), I'm pretty sure he does that because Iketeru is innocent and basically a child in a grown man's body, so he feels the need to protect him. It's kind of a "shield the eyes of the innocent" situation.

Thanks for making this video! I ship them big time and am so happy to see that someone else enjoys their dynamic. I also just really, really enjoyed this show. As a forty-something year old navigating the crappy world of adulthood I appreciate their cynicism and their concurrent caring for one another and their fans.
If he ever did end up being gay like the video talks about it would make sense. In the manga there was a panel where he did make a somewhat snide comment about the makeup artist, so it could be denial or something

In the manga, a scene that I don't think was in the anime, haven't watched ep 13 yet, but, Kikaku says to Uramichi that he likes Uramichi. But then Capellini-chan shows up and implies the two are friends, and Kikaku immediately tells that no, they are not friends, don't even joke about that, and on top of that when Capellini suggests Uramichi and Kikaku go into Capellini's friends macaron shop, Kikaku further doubles down, saying that the thought of two men buying sweets together makes him sick. (This earns him a triple door-to-Uramichi's-heart shutting at once.) But then at the very end, we see Kikaku likely at home, I assume, since his bun is all neat and he has a towel around his neck, and a shopping bag from the macaron place on his table.
