Been bartending for at least 8 years now. Keep in mind that just like any other job, if not more in bartending/serving work, every job and employer is different. Some have WAYYY more sidework (cleaning/prepping/etc) that your employer will try to get you to do, many of them putting illegal amounts of non-guest related work for you to do for WHAT THEY PAY YOU, which is often HALF of the normal hourly wage. According to Federal Law, you are only supposed to be forced to do around 20% of your total TIP CREDIT WAGE time doing work not related to serving guests/making ingredients which will be served to them. DO NOT LET YOUR EMPLOYER ABUSE YOU!!! "But you made $xxx.xx!" Is not an excuse for you to spend 2-3 hours of your 6-9 hours cleaning floors/doing inventory for hours/deep cleaning, cashing out other people, doing other's paperwork, etc. Many places will use you for all they can. Know your worth, and don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. If you aren't making hundreds every night, and your boss is having you do hours of nonsense while they pay you $6/hr, stand up for yourself.

I am looking forward to become a bartender when i finish uni (i study hospitality management) but right now i am just doing backbar stuff because i am a trainee. Story time: Working in all inclusive hotels for 2 years now, i am really disgusted with how the businesses don't respect themselves and try to leech money from customers. They try to make their drinks as worse as possible so the customers dont order them again. (There is a logic followed by many that implies the different treatment of the customer decided on if he is all inclusive or if he pays extra. All inclusive= bad treatment, free pouring, poor service/ Paying customer= better treatment, measuring the doses, good and instant service) On the other hand, when i am doing drinks, i am 95 percent of the time measuring everything, trying to be precise and honest with my work, but my coleagues curse at me for taking care for all types of customers, even the all inclusive. That shit gets me nuts man. I try to do my job better and that is bad? Should someone being good at his work scolded by his superiors? These are a few examples that make me sick of working in general. My problems were never that much work related (e.g how to make this or that et cetera) but mostly working enviroment oriented (crazy coworkers, bad behavior from superior to inferiors including me etc.) This is why i hope that one day i get to work in a small shop like the one you currently work at, or to even have my own shop (so i can control everything around me).
Thanks for the story!! Yeah some people should never work in customer service..and there tips will reflect!! Keep the good work up and you’ll be a star! Thanks for watching :)
Just made $424 in a 12 hour shift as a server, I’ve been serving since I was 18 and I’m 21 now with no plans of getting a new job. Bartenders do make more than me on average but I think being in the service industry and making tips is a great place to be (unless you want healthcare through you’re job) this isn’t even close to the highest amount I’ve made in a day 😂
@@onetwo12onetwo526 That’s probably true. I work at a movie theater that is also a restaurant - I can have over 30+ tables at once if the night is busy enough. Nothing like what most people do as a server and it’s certainly stressful, but we help each other with drinks and split tips evenly at the end. Sometimes you lose and sometimes you win but if it were more independent nobody could give half decent service
@@sesh3508 unfortunately in Southern California they won't allow you to work like that they will put three people for one job where is by yourself you can earn a nice weight split it three ways and you just humping
Watching you make all those drinks is mesmerizing, I didn't know bartending was a whole art form of its own :o I'm writing a story that involve some (slightly underage) characters sneaking to a slightly high-end rooftop bar for some drinks, but I'm not a drinker myself and I'm doing some research to fill some gaps in my understanding. If you can be bothered, would you mind answering some of my questions? - Do people pay before or after receiving their drinks? - Is it perfectly acceptable to order a beer at a high-end bar or is that kinda out-of-place? - Do bartenders tend to make small talk with people by the counter, or do they tend to leave them alone? Excuse me if some questions are trivial. It's the small details that are hardest to verify from just scouring the internet.
I appreciate the enthusiasm but it appears in all observations to be fairly pedestrian. The basis was present however the finer points were neglected. Details like; Finished drinks alone are permitted on the bar top. Using double strainers for drinks that could be shaker-strained. Free pour; more accurate, quicker and fewer tools

(There is a logic followed by many that implies the different treatment of the customer decided on if he is all inclusive or if he pays extra. All inclusive= bad treatment, free pouring, poor service/ Paying customer= better treatment, measuring the doses, good and instant service)
On the other hand, when i am doing drinks, i am 95 percent of the time measuring everything, trying to be precise and honest with my work, but my coleagues curse at me for taking care for all types of customers, even the all inclusive.
Hii bro! May I ask a quick question, how can I get the work visa to work in Canada 🇨🇦, I am an Indian
Do you have someone come I'm and walk the dogs or no? I have a 6 month old and there's always an accident when I get back.
No my fiancé gets home a couple hours after I leave for work..he works days and I’m of nights :)
great video
What did you have to do to be able to get your first job bartending?
I enjoyed bartending before i became security, always fun if the team is decent to.
That’s awesome!
7:26 "AND THEY TOUCH! VERSTAPPEN'S OUT OF THE RACE!"
Crofty commentary and such a nice bar.... DAMN
I want to learn bartending from EBS and work abroad, any idea how long it takes to get a job with working visa?
Come to Canada 🇨🇦!! It doesn’t take long..once you have the visa you can look for work, could have a job within a day
@@davidblake1 Really 🤩 woww!!

@@davidblake1 Yess!

Just made $424 in a 12 hour shift as a server, I’ve been serving since I was 18 and I’m 21 now with no plans of getting a new job. Bartenders do make more than me on average but I think being in the service industry and making tips is a great place to be (unless you want healthcare through you’re job) this isn’t even close to the highest amount I’ve made in a day 😂
More often than not servers make more money they do not have to split only tip out
@@onetwo12onetwo526 That’s probably true.
You are amazing sir love from India
Thank you!! Check out some other bar videos I have on my channel :)
Watching you make all those drinks is mesmerizing, I didn't know bartending was a whole art form of its own :o
I'm writing a story that involve some (slightly underage) characters sneaking to a slightly high-end rooftop bar for some drinks, but I'm not a drinker myself and I'm doing some research to fill some gaps in my understanding.
Drop a sub and I’ll answer all ☺️☺️
@@davidblake1 I'll subscribe for him mate
-after usually
-of course, they have beer there for a reason.
-depends on the customer but generally yes as long as its not too busy.
Thank you for the video.
No probs! Don’t forget to sub :)
Loved your vlogg, Which country are you working?

What is the shifting hours?
About 9-10 hours a shift…start 2:30 end around 11:30
I appreciate the enthusiasm but it appears in all observations to be fairly pedestrian. The basis was present however the finer points were neglected. Details like; Finished drinks alone are permitted on the bar top. Using double strainers for drinks that could be shaker-strained. Free pour; more accurate, quicker and fewer tools
