My inlaws bought the family (11 total including 4 kids and 1 teenager) a cruise on Carnival Freedom for Christmas. We are going February 18-23. Myself and the 5 minors have never been on a cruise and are so excited.
@SCT Adventures nervous about allowing my 13 yr old son to go to teen area. Our smaller kids have to be signed in and out of their area but the teen can just come and go from his. What's security level like on this ship?
+Crystal Farmer Once the young teens make friends and stick together I think it is pretty safe. We have let our daughter who is now 16 roam with the other kids as long as she checks in with us frequently. Never had any issues.

I can take those reviews into consideration when booking a cruise because there is a lot of money involved and being informed makes me spend my money wiser. Sailing on the Freedom first week of December!

We sailed on her back in 2013 when our kids graduated college. 8 day Southern Carribean with stops in Aruba and Curaçao. That is why when researching content about a ship you should look at the most recent "tours" or content regarding the ship before sailing. Good call outs by you both on this ship as she sails now. Will help others make informed decisions.
My wife and I have been on this ship with family for 3 cruises out of Galveston. It has been a bad luck ship for us. Each time we were on it one of us was sick or hurt. That being said, we love this ship. It is our favorite in the fleet.
Just the wood paneling you thought was ugly? Not the red snake skin wallpaper in the dining rooms or the golden orange grove fixtures, or the incredible over use of the color burgundy?? The ship looks like Tommy Lee from the 1970s designed it.
Hopefully it won’t be too bad. It wasn’t really a deal breaker but just and inconvenience. We would still go back tomorrow. It’s a great ship. Have a great cruise!!
Will be going on her in January 1st time can't wait.... Been on the ecstasy twice and she smelt really bad hope this smell isn't as bad as that one but I will be prepared😊

@TheSCTAdventures thanks for laying out some details before boarding because I was somewhat regretting booking this older, smaller ship. Didn't want my birthday experience to not be awesome like on the Horizon or Venezia, although the latter was pretty small compared to Horizon. Now when booking I know I have to look for the class of ships.
+R Emanuel It’s probably hit or miss. I think it is going in for a dry dock soon so hopefully they will work on it. It wasn’t bad enough that we wouldn’t sail on it again tomorrow…😁
@@misteemcnutt8280 the smell is definitely a sewage type smell. It’s not overwhelming and it has not been present on a lot of ships. I wouldn’t let that deter you from cruising. We still had a great time..😁
@@misteemcnutt8280 it's not game changing just every once in a while you can smell the plumbing. I would say it's a very minor inconvenience and only in the halls or the top decks when when ship isn't moving. Overall the ship is very clean.

Great boat except for the lines for food at lunch time... Too crammed and the staff on freedom isn't as good as other boats like the Sunshine. The alchemy bar is weak on freedom, bartenders there were a no go

Best and probably most safe place for kids..excellent staff . My kids loved it and I never allowed them.go.daycare.

They usually have singles mixers and meetups throughout the cruise. Our good friends The Funnel Heads met on a cruise so I would say yes…😁
