I have to say, this is probably the most extensive/non-biased comparisons/reviews of any item (cooking, fishing, lawn, etc) I have ever watched. And yes I watched it in its entirety. Absolutely well done! Kudos to you!
Bro you are by far the best reviewer of cordless mowers on TH-cam. You go over everything these companies need to start sending you review units so you don’t have to buy them. I had to finish watching today.
You’re absolutely correct! 👍🏻 I feel the same about my EGO purchase. Personal satisfaction is where it’s at. And the Milwaukee edged the EGO in most of the legitimate competitions I’ve seen. The EGO being much lighter & less expensive swayed me in that direction. No regrets here either! 👍🏻✌🏻
Awesome video/review!!! You are the first channel to do a head to head with these flagship mowers. Nice Job. Your review is also very thorough, really like the cut quality comparison. No other channel is nearly as thorough as you, and you appear to be unbiased, letting the results speak for themselves. It’s a shame how there are so few channels of this quality, that isn’t scared to criticize a big company like Milwaukee in fear of lack of future sponsorships. Please keep the great/honest videos coming!!!
Bryan that’s our goal thank you so much. We had a few already ask, who won? We don’t announce winners anymore we just try to show all types of detail. Thank you
My sister's family was already on the Milwaukee M18 platform. So when I bought her birthday present (String trimmer/blower combo) I got her the Milwaukee ones. I was concerned that He would be taking her batteries for work etc... but quite the opposite happened. She started taking his batteries when hers were charging 🤣
First of all…Big thank you for doing this comparison. Your review, speed, style…very informative and ver detailed. And I agree with others that you were open and very unbiased with the review even though you have been using EGO and are not worried about what each of the manufacturers have to say. I have been closely following EGO LM2156SP and own quite a few M18 tools. So this review is very helpful. To me, both are quite even; and ego is tried and tested over a longer time plus $200 cheaper. But may lean towards Milwaukee if I can get it cheaper on a coupon since I can still use the batteries for other M18 tools like trimmer and blower. Had it not been the case, I would go with EGO personally. Thanks again for the review….. you got yourself a new subscriber.
Once I discovered Ego products, I sold everything I had from other manufacturers and went all in on Ego. I am on my second Ego mower (sold my first to get the Select Cut) and I can tell you that nothing can match them. Every bit as good as a gas mower. Also have the string trimmer, edger and blower and all share the same batteries. Highly recommend Ego.
That's what we did commercially and I want to add the zero turn to our line up for lawn care but $$$$. When I got the first round of stimulus money I bought the 2135SP and the Toro 60V 21" and I actually liked the cut quality of the Toro better but the drag from the drive system when reversing was the deal breaker compared to the Ego. Fast forward to the 2156SP and it's the best of both worlds. The only thing that might make the 2156SP better would be having dual battery ports and their new 12Ah batteries.
Did the same thing, but I waited until each unit failed before replacing it with the EGO one. There is only one thing that would make me switch from EGO. Better ground speed. The four mph that the Milwaukee offers might be just enough. Since you are also using battery electric equipment for your lawn service, how have you solved the refueling problem?
@@robertthompson3447 By having 10-12 batteries ready to go. To be honest we really don't need that many for the dozen or so properties we do. Largest is 1/2 acre commercial that we do with a zero turn, soon to be EGO and touch up hills and closer to the building with the 2156SP. Snow removal can take all 10-12 7.5Ah batteries in one storm and I've got a Renergy 2000w inverter in my work van to keep them topped off between properties. I want the 12Ah EGO batteries now.
@@jeremytine this is milwuakees first try. They said they're stepping up their game in 2022 for lawn care. Ego as a company will never have the motor advantage over milwaukee
I have owned both of these mowers and the 2 major advantages the Ego has over the Milwaukee is the much better quality dual blade, and the faster battery charger. Without a doubt the Ego dual blade is far superior when mulching VS the Milwaukee single blade. It also doesn't help that the Milwaukee blade comes very dull from the factory and needs to be sharpened right out of the box. I feel that if the Milwaukee came with a similar high quality dual blade then it would easily match and likely surpass the Ego in overall cut quality. The Milwaukee is by far the more powerful mower, and has noticeably greater lift & suction due to the more powerful motor and what I feel is a superior deck design. The Milwaukee also has a much higher quality feel due to the steel deck and overall more sturdy feeling materials, where as the Ego feels like a kids toy next to the Milwaukee due to the majority of the Ego being made out of plastic. Both are great mowers and I enjoy them both but I really feel that the only thing holding this Milwaukee back is the inferior blade that it comes with.
i just sharpened the factory blade it is WICKED. the Milwakee high lift mulch blade is a helecopter ! a must buy accessory. I sold honda power equipment for years with the duel blade system and am blown away how well this milwakee is performing and flexibility of using the blade of choice for the what you are requiring.
@4:55 the dual rapid charger for the m18 batteries has a max amperage of 5.5amps @120v it's a 660watt max charger. M18 660watt vs EGO 700watt. And for the batteries its 560watt hours for the ego (56v x 10ah) , and 432wh for the 2 M18 12.0s. 2 milwaukee m18 12.0s cost the same as 1 ego 10ah. $500 so assuming there close in efficiency you still get about 30% more capacity 128wh (ego) more comparable price. However it depends what brand/system you are in I have Milwaukee so I already have 4 more batteries on top of what they give you here. Good comparison 👍
Man!!! That is the most pragmatic review ever. I love me some Milwaukee, but sometimes they step beyond what they should sometimes. You got thick fescue which makes for an excellent test on the mower. Your absolutely right on the side discharge. Larger the discharge. Can’t say enough on your comprehensive review. Absolutely excellent! Thank you fiancé for me for participating.
It is on the front. 5.5amps. checked it with my kill a watt meter. Started the charging curve at 256watts and topped out at the end of the charging curve at 300watts.
Thank you for sharing this great review of the EGO Power+ 56V mower.🤝 I was looking for a budget-friendly to mow my lawn, and after comparing a few brands such as Toro, Kobalt, Greenworks, Craftsman, DeWALT, RYOBI, Black+Decker, and Troy-Bilt. Since I preferred the EGO specifications and features and couldn't find that brand at Home Depot, I took a trip to Lowe's and bought the EGO Power+ 56V Select Cut XP 21-in deck Self-Propelled Mower for $799.99 with 1 battery and battery charger included in June 2022. I added the 3-year Lowe's extended warranty as the mower battery is more expensive than the actual mower. Rainfall is annoying and wet grass gets clogged inside the grass chute making it longer and difficult to finish mowing my lawn before my 10.0 Amp battery is depleted. According to the EGO label, the battery should last up to 75 minutes. However, tall grass coupled with the self-propelled activation on a lower cut setting between 1" to 4" height drains the battery. I would use my EGO 56V 15" String Trimmer to cut down the tall grass and then mow it down with the mower. I plan to stay with the EGO brand and continue buying its battery-powered tools and batteries. Hopefully, EGO will make longer-lasting smart batteries with a 7-year extended battery warranty. Keep up the awesome job! 🤝
The smart battery sold me. That and the fact that Milwaukee doesn't currently have a snow blower so I wouldn't be using those batteries much for several months
You can’t go wrong with either one of them! When it comes to electric mowers, these are the two best, with greenworks being a great competitor for both of them 😎👍🏻
I have an Ego mower with a 10AH battery and can get really close to cutting my 1 acre yard with a single charge (without using any self-propelled). Great mower.
Ego all day. I’ve had an ego for 6 or 7 years. I once let it sit outside in the Florida rain and Sun for over a year. I have never changed or sharpened the blade and it still works great.
Go Ego. Better mulching, smaller footprint, and much more lightweight. i also just picked up the SNT2114 snowblower. Looking forward to testing it out!
This is one of the most comprehensive videos I’ve seen on these two products and I really appreciate it. I’m shopping for a new lawnmower after my Toro Personal Pace self-propelled 21 inch died (the SP gearing) and this has caused me to lean toward considering rechargeable lawnmowers. I’d love to see another video comparing two more brands; say the Greenworks and the Ryobi. Maybe you’ve done that already and I’ll look for it!
Video was super in depth. Awesome job. Milwaukee has a handful of chargers, but basically 3 charge speeds. The regular 3amp, rapid 6amp, and the super charger 12amp. The super charger only does one battery at a time.
1:02:10 Milwaukee side discharge does not redirect the cuttings. The blade spins clockwise and the the throw is clockwise. EGO tries to redirect the cuttings counter clockwise.
^This. I wonder why neither company designed the deck to have the rear port on the left (port!) side? A hold-over from gas-mowers that do the same thing, for some reason? I am guessing they open the right side for right-handed folk to switch between bagging and mulching, but seriously it doesn't take that much dexterity, we can do that with our left-hand, companies!
@@Chamdar17 If the port were on the left side, the mower blade would have to turn counter clockwise... which is why most, if not all mowers have the port on the right. Port on left side of a clockwise blade rotation would not eject much as the flow spins away from the discharge port.
@@lewisjohnson7821 discussing the REAR discharge, not side. Mower blades spinning clockwise (viewed from above) with throw out and back on the right side of the mower (where most have the discharge chute location). But in the rear, the discharge chute can be on the left-rear as opposed to the right-rear, the clippings will get thrown out to the left-rear without needing to be redirected by a chute. The EGO improperly tries to turn the direction right-ward while the Milwaukee properly guides it leftward, but NEITHER thought to just locate the opening for the chute/bag-loader on the LEFT rear to begin with. *Shrug*
This has to be the best side by side comparison test i have ever seen, thankyou for that,,i think after i watched this video, the EGO is the better buy for the money as i am considering replacing my current gas mower which is 3yrs old ( cub cadet with honda motor ) the mulching test is the considering factor for me ,, i mow a mere .25 city lot,,,,,,thanks again sir,,,love your dog who was the star of the video
@@TechMadeEzy i just back on your channel and subscribed, going to watch lots of your videos as we go forward, saw your video on the Ryobi 40V and was leaning to that mower but the video on the EGO56V i think is the better buy, have you seen any issues with the 56V battery on the EGO , some videos out here showing issues with battery?
Great review with all the different categories you covered. I am looking at these two and leaning towards the Milwaukee mower as I already have some M18 power tools and a hedge trimmer. Thanks for the informative review.
Overall great reviews! Milwaukee DOES make a faster charger. The Super Charger. I think the Rapid Charger will probably be kinder to the batteries for longer life though. Your charge calculations don't factor in heat and conversion losses, which ARE substantial. For apples to apples, since the Milwaukee uses 2 batteries, it's not 216 w/hr it's 432 w/hrs. The fuel gauge on your battery is not working. You need to call Milwaukee for a replacement. I have about 50 M18 batteries. None of them has ever done that. Again, GREAT, detailed review! Keep up the great work.
@The Insufferable Tool I thought VA was the same as watts in simple calculations. You double the volts in series, but the amp hours stay the same. In parallel, you double the amps and the volts stay the same. Right? So, series means 36v x 12ah = 432wh yes/no? And in parallel it's 18v x 24ah = 432wh yes no? Are not the wh the same regardless? I hate posting incorrect stuff and will own it, if I did. What am I forgetting or not getting?
I’ve had my Ego with 10 mah battery about a month now. It’s a love hate relationship. It definitely does not cut as well as my Honda or Toro Time Master gas powered mowers. The ego tends to leave uncut grass here and there requiring me to go over certain areas twice. I have a .47 acre lot, which the house is on and a few large mulch beds. So subtract those from the .47 acres. The battery is typically on its last bar when I finish lasting between 45-60 minutes. I expected more from the larger batteries. I absolutely love not having to change oil, fuel filters, spark plug and air filter. I also love the easy start and go. I’m just not sure it’s worth the inferior cut and battery anxiety 😂
Have you tried the High Lift Blade? $25 from Amazon or Lowes. Many reviews say it takes care of all those stray blades that don’t get cut. I just ordered one today.
Great review. Only issue is some people like me don’t get so much time to watch a video over an hour long. Maybe having a condensed version to go along with this would be great. Thanks.
Great job in comparing lawn mowers. I quit using my Toro self-pace lawn mower (many years ago, gasoline model) because is was too difficult to backup and mow around trees and curved shaped flower beds. The fact that the Milwaukee is somewhat free wheeling when out of the self propelled mode would be a big selling point for me. Do you know where Milwaukee mower is manufactured? I know Ego is manufactured in China where labor rates are much lower than in USA. I prefer to buy USA made products.
I'm not sure which plant they manufacture out of. However, most of the stuff they make are designed/engineered in Wisconsin. So at the very least, you know that buying Milwaukee will support tons of jobs in the USA.
Great review very thorough, I think you got 2 batteries that didn't work displaying the power level. I own allot of Milwaukee tools & batteries & they all have the displays on the battery that works. Thanks for being unbiased. I was waiting to see these two comparisons since Eco is the king of the yard tools & Milwaukee is well one of the top battery tool companies out there.
Another homerun of a video! Happy to be a new subscriber...thank you for all your work with the great videos. Brooklyn is a beauty...looks exactly like my yellow lab 'Chrissy' that was my furbaby for nearly 13 years.
Didn't realize how long the review would be when I started watching it. Thank you for all the work you did on this comparison. I have been using EGO select cut XP for my lawn service for about 2 years now and Milwaukee has addressed many of the concerns that I have with the EGO. Too bad my trailer is set up for 21" deck and I would not easily be able to roll the Milwaukee into my trailer. (not to mention all new chargers at home and in the trailer.) I am a little concerned about the Milwaukee floating on the axle; that is something that I expect will get worse with use instead of better. The Milwaukee reminds me of the Honda mowers that I was using before switching to EGO. This review may have just been enough for me to switch to Milwaukee next time I buy a mower.
Once again, BRAVO!! on a great review. I bought my EGO last year (first electric for me) based on your wonderful review, and I LOVE it (dare I say that I, for the first time, look forward to cutting my reno lawn job). Thanks for your thoroughness…ignore those that criticize the length of review🤣…if they don’t want detail and thoroughness, they can go mow grass!! You give us all the info we need to make a great, informed purchase decision ! You still have that “Howard Stern thing” going on ! Hugs to ‘Brooklyn.’
The issue is one thing, that is once you "buy in" to EGO or any other brand your invested in their battery technology and charging stations. It is almost a leap of faith if you want to switch brands after you buy in to two or more products. Due to this I would have almost no choice but to buy into the EGO brand as I already invested deeply into multiple devices. I would be shooting myself in the foot to switch to another battery brand and not have all my batteries for all my battery powered lawn care products to not be the same. Good review honestly, I was hoping that it would switch my perspectives of the EGO vs any other brand but its not. Thank you
That speed on the Mil is nice. For me though personally I just push my Ego manually and use the drive to push it when in an awkward position. These things a so much lighter than the gas mowers I don’t mind pushing it. Great review buddy!!
My EGO mower drive is messed up and cant use be cause it pulls hard to the left. Doesnt bother me much since it take little to no effort to push. Problem is I paid a premium fornthe self propled. Cant wait to use my Milwaukee mower soon.
I think you should have done the side discharge on the EGO, with the High-lift blade, seeing as it came with it for that intended purpose, which would have given you a fairer comparison.
In real life though, the vast majority of people won't be switching blades just to change from side discharge to mulch and bagging and will stick to one blade
@@NadeemAhmed-nv2br I would be running the side discharge all the time, so yes, it would make perfect sense to test the machine the way the manufacturer intended it to be used.
I think, like Ryobi, Ego have some good motor management going on. I am surprised the Milwaukee has a high-lift mode that is selectable as normally I'd expect the mower to just do that as needed, as you can see the Ego does in the video.
First of all I wish my lawn looked like yours...very nice! Second this video WAS AWESOME! Thank you so much for doing this comparison. This video is just like your lawn, very impressive! FYI I have decided to go with the Milwaukee main because I have other Milwaukee tools and I could use the batteries with other tool. Again thanks and great video. P.S. you have a new subscriber.
Hi...thanks so much for creating this vlog...👍👋🤗...I appreciate you for doing so. I suggest both Ego and Milwaukee creating a side shoot that you can insert with option to shoot either L or R. Perhaps same part with ability insert upright or upside down? Milwaukee should allow the handle to slide down for most compact storage. As my generation grows older, we are suffering from neuropathy and arthritis...overall I am leaning towards the Ego...👍👋🙏
Was at the Depot today and saw this Milwaukee. Something I noticed but you didn't comment on was the thumb lever to engage the drive. I can't help but think that your thumbs would get cramped up holding the lever down.
It seems both Milwaukee and Ego each bring something unique to the table. Both have their pros and cons. The Milwaukee has a more powerful motor and is very user friendly than again so does Ego. However for you get for the price I expected more from the Milwaukee especially when it comes to the batteries needed to power the Milwaukee you need two compared to the Ego's one. So I'm disappointed in Milwaukee to me for what you get vs what you pay to me Ego is the better option in my opinion.
I agree with what you're saying except the battery. I'd much prefer the 2 12Ah batteries that I get with the Milwaukee mower as I can use them in my other tools with one in each tool if I want. The huge Ego battery is powerful but too big to lug around and can only be used in one other item at a time obviously.
I bought my EGO in May 2021 and I'm now in my third mowing season. Mine has the 56V/7.5 AH battery but is similar to this one, and I paid $600 from Lowes. The worst con is the wheels locking up when you drag it backwards, and you never know when it will do it. Anther annoyance is when using the bag if you hit a bump such as going from grass to concrete it can spill some from the bottom. I guess it's because the bottom of the bag is level to the ground and not canted like on my old John Deere walk behind. But I've never had an issue with grass coming out of the top opening. My side discharge does okay, but the attachment can be fiddly. I don't care for the shape of the handle and the small buttons you have to depress as I find it fatiguing, and would prefer a more conventional straight bar design. It does a decent job mulching if I mow when I should, and I just leave the blade setup for that even when bagging. The battery indicator can be hard to see if the sun shines on it, but the LED lighting is a non-issue for me as I checked them when new and never turned them on again. I could initially do my whole yard when new but now I need to recharge between front and back yard which sucks. An OEM 7.5 AH on Amazon right now is $345, but I might just get a 5.0 AH which is $234. There are scads of Chinese knock-offs that are much cheaper, some $100 less, but I don't trust those things. This was my first electric so was a learning experience, and I'm not sure what I would replace it with, but I don't think it would be the Milwaukee, although I have their power tools and like them. I will say that this long video had the most commercials I've seen on TH-cam so far, and the repeated requests for subs would have been more irritating if you hadn't used your pup as an incentive, lol. All in all a very informative video.
Great video have been looking at both of these mowers and after watching am kind of set on the Milwaukie over the EGO now. Never had an electric mower before but wanting to switch over to electric yard tools. Thanks for doing this video!!!
@@TechMadeEzy yeah none right now but have been looking at trimmers and a blower and like the milwaukie brand and USA product..... probably sourced parts from china though..........
So one thing you really didn't dig into was the height adjustment mechanism it self. Let me explain I currently have a Husqvarna gas mower but the height adjustment has a bar going from the back wheel to the front wheel similar to what I see on the Milwaukee you demoed. On my gas mower when setting the mower to the lowest cut the front wheel adjusted cams over and the bar locks against the front wheel thus it wont turn. So I would like to see you could look in more detail how both mower height mechanisms work and or designed. To fix my gas mower issue I had to weld a block to the adjustment bar to stop it from cam'ing over. I would hate spend that kind of money if that becomes and issue on the new electric mowers. The Ego mower I am unable to see how the height adjuster works.
Have considered some sort of maneuverability tests? Such as how do the various mowers perform 90 and 180 degree turns, etc.? Also, how well do the mowers you test "edge" or how close do they cut to swing set posts, etc? Thank you so much for detailed and helpful reviews!
The lip on the bottom adds strength to the body of the mower, and helps create vacuum to through grass into the bag. Also minimizes sharp edges on the bottom. On a commercial mower that lip often gets ground down from going over curbs or stairs.
One area i would of liked to see is a long grass mowing comparison. Im talking fully grown grass. Maybe that would of helped show power output better. Or mow on a faster speed.
Nice comparison Video between the Ego & 1 THE Millwalkee, and the that was awesome. I just bought the TORO 22" 60v Recycler Mower 04/25/22 from HD I love it, the Personal Pace Drive System is really nice it's flawless. Tell Brooklyn my yellow Lab Dash say's HI. 👋
When the narrow strip was being cut the center of the blade was being used and not the sharp ends of the blade. If the straight edge cuts why do we need to sharpen the blade at all?
That Milwaukee is a beast! Love that manual high speed switch and the nearly instantaneous startup! Unfortunately it seems to be let down by its blade a little bit. The blade looks very similar to the blade that was on my Ryobi, optimized for long runtime and as such relatively low lift. The single best improvement I made to my Ryobi was installing a 20” high lift Ego blade that I modified to fit. Made a huge difference in the cut quality and didn’t seem to hurt runtime at all. Hopefully some of the Milwaukee tech like the high power motor and the high speed switch will make it over to Ryobi. Why Ryobi and Ego don’t want to give the users manual control over the speed of the motor is absolutely beyond me and very annoying. The Milwaukee and Ryobi use the same effective battery voltage so I can at least hope right????
@@shawnmooney5643 Yeah I saw that but it’s a true 21” blade which won’t fit the first generation Ryobi 40v mowers. What I needed was a fake 20” (19.5”)high lift blade. Fortunately Ego offered a high lift blade for their early mowers that matched the dimensions of the Ryobi blade in every way except thickness and the diameter of the center hole. I used a step drill bit to enlarge the center hole to match the outer diameter of a max power blade spacer/adapter that I already had on hand. I then balanced and sharpened the blade and installed it with all the original pieces except the large plastic spacer/washer with the circle and semi circle protrusions that goes on top of the stock blade. The Ego blade sits directly against the stock brass drive washer/spacer and is held in place with the stock square plastic washer that grabs the sides of the blade and the square metal washer that supports that. No vibration, cuts so much better, bags so much better, mulches about the same so not great, it doesn’t have to rev up nearly as much, and it still cuts at the exact same height of the stock blade. I expected the battery life to suffer but honestly it seems to be identical to the stock blade. It’s clear that the new blade takes more power to spin but because it’s thicker and heavier it nearly never revs up to the high speed so I think that offsets the higher consumption at regular speed. Admittedly my yard is small so I could be wrong. The blade moves so much air that if I drop the deck down to the three lower cut levels it actually becomes difficult to push because it’s creating so much vacuum under the deck. I was honestly surprised that I was unable to find any documented upgrades that people had done to the first gen 40v mowers but man it’s so worth it.
Ego has been making mowers and have evolved since their first ones. I'm sure milwaukee will catch up if they want. I do like Toros pace system better. I used to have older ego, but I wanted try something else with self propelled, my older ego was not.
Excellent review … hopefully EGO updates it Steel Deck 50cm mower soon to at least keep up with the Milwaukee! FYI - the EGO steel deck has a no load RPM of 3,000 RPM, it is superior to the EGO plastic mowers because of it’s RPM alone, allowing you to move quicker leaving less stragglers and time is money! But Ego needs to bring the actual cut of this mower up 533mm, not the current small 480mm and give this new mower a twin blade with 3,000rpm and above speed!
Observations… the grass is too wet and heavy to do a fair condition comparison, which explains all the “clumping” and build up on the underside and caking on the wheels. It’s never good to mow, let alone “mulch” in wet conditions. The Milwaukee handle collapses if you loosen the Wingnuts and fold it, which makes it more compact than the Ego. Also, measure blade height at the front, not the side, for actual height comparison. The Ego is designed with a homeowner in mind, and the Milwaukee is designed for both home and pro user in mind. The Milwaukee is far superior to the Ego, in my opinion.
Kind of unrelated but wondering why Ego changed the underside of their deck from all smooth like the Milwaukee to the current version with all the little nooks and crannies in the center section.
@@TechMadeEzy I assume for more rigidity with the twin blade and stronger motor but I like the smooth deck of my 2102SP. And thanks for the video, the Ego did quite well in comparison. An excellent design overall.
I've been really wanting to get this Milwaukee mower, because I already run ALL Milwaukee tools, and could use the batteries for other things. Otherwise, there both great units
Great review and comparison! Was going to buy a Milwaukee but now I don't know... Would love to see if the Milwaukee high lift blade makes a difference in cut quality.
Billy thank you and welcome to the channel, I haven't seen you on here The Hi-lift blade is really good for bagging, it can also help when you have grass that needs to be lifted up in order to be cut that happens sometimes. In reality a good sharp blade will do the job and the Milwaukee has a super powerful motor as well
Now that you have had both mowers for at least a year..which one of these two mowers do you like more? Do you find yourself using one more than the other? Thanks for the great review.
I got the ego select cut after our 6.5hp mower broke. Our grass was as high as it'd grow with seeds coming out of it, but that mower had no trouble eating through it all with the auto drive on.
I like that you do an in-depth test. I don't like that you don't compare the drive systems (you don't use self propel on self-propelled mowers), that's just dumb. Also, the quick release handle on the EGO may seem like a pro to you, but I keep getting it stuck in my fence when I'm by the fence and back up the mower. I know it's going to get broken off at some point. You also don't mention handling or ease of manuevering. I find the longer wheelbase EGO harder to turn around or manuever. Another is that you tested the Milwaukeee once in high-lift or turbo mode. I would have liked to see every test in regular, then turbo mode. Otherwise, keep up the good work!
They’re both very good mowers, I’ve used Ego products personally but if you’re not in one or the other ecosystem, you can’t go wrong with any of the two definitely

But may lean towards Milwaukee if I can get it cheaper on a coupon since I can still use the batteries for other M18 tools like trimmer and blower. Had it not been the case, I would go with EGO personally.
Thanks again for the review….. you got yourself a new subscriber.
Thanks so much Gabru, welcome to the family
Except milwaukee lmaooo
I'm not in the market for either of these and just watched the whole thing. Very thorough.
Thank you Austin
I sold honda power equipment for years with the duel blade system and am blown away how well this milwakee is performing and flexibility of using the blade of choice for the what you are requiring.
have you tried milwakee super charger. charges 12.0 battery in an hour
Milwaukee>ego
Im still goint through the review.. does the milwaukee fold up? I have lots of m18.. im tempted.
Can a different blade fit on the Mikwaukee, or does it require that specific blade?
Love the Milwaukee brand and have 40 pieces of equipment and love every one of them !!!
Thank you very much. I’m glad you enjoyed it and I’m glad it added some value.
Just used my ego xp yesterday on Mulching instead of side shoot. FABULOUS.
For the Milwaukee rapid charger wattage, just flip it over and find the number of amps it's rated at. Then multiply the amps by 120 for wattage.
It is on the front. 5.5amps. checked it with my kill a watt meter. Started the charging curve at 256watts and topped out at the end of the charging curve at 300watts.
The manual for the charger says it wants 660 watts max.
EGO is the definitive GOAT of lithium powered electric mowers. These machines are BEASTS! 👍🏻✌🏻
most thorough review of these mowers on the internet? I think so. very cool
Thank you
Great video. Felt like I was watching Sunday Night Football with Al Michaels
Lol love it thanks Ry
The lifted blade detail is a good find. Thanks
The Milwaukee motor sounds awesome
The smart battery sold me. That and the fact that Milwaukee doesn't currently have a snow blower so I wouldn't be using those batteries much for several months
You can’t go wrong with either one of them! When it comes to electric mowers, these are the two best, with greenworks being a great competitor for both of them 😎👍🏻
Tried the Greenworks, wasn't a fan at all. IMO their 60V range is garbage, they should have stuck to the 80V range and been done with it.
I have an Ego mower with a 10AH battery and can get really close to cutting my 1 acre yard with a single charge (without using any self-propelled). Great mower.
It’s a nice machine, good luck 👍🏼
Thank you Jeffrey much appreciated. Definitely more to come
Wow by far your explanation of each mower really is great . you’re an amazing reviewer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much
Dude, this video is amazing. I really think you're going places. This video was fantastic. I love the birds fighting!
Thank you so much wasn’t that funny I didn’t expect the birds to come out of nowhere and start a fight
I think those birds were mating. This is what happens when some species mate. It appears they're fighting but in reality they are pro creating.
*Shrug*
Just bought the EGO a few weeks go. No complaints, don’t use the self propelled all the time. It is far lighter than my old mower. So far it’s great.
Enjoy
This has to be the best side by side comparison test i have ever seen, thankyou for that,,i think after i watched this video, the EGO is the better buy for the money as i am considering replacing my current gas mower which is 3yrs old ( cub cadet with honda motor ) the mulching test is the considering factor for me ,, i mow a mere .25 city lot,,,,,,thanks again sir,,,love your dog who was the star of the video
Thank you so much Thomas I’m glad I could help we always try to provide a lot of detail
Thanks Thomas, Batteries have a 3yr warranty and the 10ah battery has a 5yr. Ego stands behind the product, has been no consistent major issues.
@@TechMadeEzy Thankyou sir,,good to know
Great review with all the different categories you covered. I am looking at these two and leaning towards the Milwaukee mower as I already have some M18 power tools and a hedge trimmer. Thanks for the informative review.
Thank you very much for watching and I’m glad it was helpful
Mike thanks and yes good point
Thanks Shawn
Have you tried the High Lift Blade? $25 from Amazon or Lowes. Many reviews say it takes care of all those stray blades that don’t get cut. I just ordered one today.
That side to side play you see in the Milwaukee's wheel axle is so you can make smoother curved turns.
A VERY thorough video, I really enjoyed it! Thanks Tech!
Excellent, comprehensive review. Love the head to head comparison of these two mowers.
2022 GirLzLawn 🎉
Milwaukee price increased, at Home Depot, to $1099 as of 5/24/22. Ego price on the same date $799 at Lowes and Amazon
$850 for the Ego now and the Milwaukee went back down to $999 for the time being.
Your getting a stronger motor, steel deck, bigger wheels and two 12amp batteries with a dual rapid charger.
@@soundretarded I bought it, used it twice and I love it. Doesn’t even break a sweat on grass height that choked the Ego
@@pacman1789 the Milwaukee is now $1199. The EGO is still $849.
Phenomenal documentary sir. Very thorough and well organized.

Great review. Only issue is some people like me don’t get so much time to watch a video over an hour long. Maybe having a condensed version to go along with this would be great. Thanks.
click the settings and watch 2x
Lots of half asses reviews to choose from...
I would suggest to break it down into sections and watch it in increments of one section at a time.
Thank you I usually have time stamps also
Love the video in detail side-by-side comparison. And beautiful lawn by the way
Thank you Robin
Outstanding review! I know you put a lot of time into this, thanks!
Thank you so very much
I opted for the Milwaukee since I'm already on the platform. I must admit, the EGO is really well thought out, lot's of nice little features.
Very good Detailed review Sir............... Your voice sounds like Bill Stephens from Mecum car Auction.
I've that show but it makes me sad! Can't afford any of those beautiful cars, thanks Stevo 😊
Shane thank you very much
Another homerun of a video! Happy to be a new subscriber...thank you for all your work with the great videos. Brooklyn is a beauty...looks exactly like my yellow lab 'Chrissy' that was my furbaby for nearly 13 years.
Thanks Paul yeah they are family members for sure 👍🏼
Thanks so much Tom
Thanks
My EGO mower drive is messed up and cant use be cause it pulls hard to the left. Doesnt bother me much since it take little to no effort to push. Problem is I paid a premium fornthe self propled. Cant wait to use my Milwaukee mower soon.
@superTA Can't wait to hear what you think 👍🏻
@@TechMadeEzy Should be a good experience since I never cut more than 1/3 off. Let me know ease if you find a dual blade option.
@@SuperTA329 under warranty?
The deck tilts slightly forward. Try measuring height from the front and not the side.
Another fun and informative review and head to head. thx for all your work. Hi Brooklyn!
Thanks so much and enjoy the Milwaukee 👍🏼
how are you liking the milwaukee?
Agree, if milwaukee included the second high lift blade in the kit, that would be smart --- would be interested to see how it mulched with that blade.
@@Yielar1 That was the deciding difference for me. I went M18 because I can use the natteries, and I have spares when those are flat.
Nice and thorough. For me the Milwaukee would be a better option just because I can use the big M18 batteries in my many other Milwaukee tools
Totally makes sense 👍🏼
Thanks, both are really top of the line mowers. Comes down to what platform are you invested in (batteries/tools you already own)
@@TechMadeEzy yeah none right now but have been looking at trimmers and a blower and like the milwaukie brand and USA product..... probably sourced parts from china though..........
13:20 That lip modifies the vortex below the deck. Helps with bagging.
I must admit, i never even thought about mowing in the dark.
Have considered some sort of maneuverability tests? Such as how do the various mowers perform 90 and 180 degree turns, etc.? Also, how well do the mowers you test "edge" or how close do they cut to swing set posts, etc? Thank you so much for detailed and helpful reviews!
Thank you, Good ideas David
The lip on the bottom adds strength to the body of the mower, and helps create vacuum to through grass into the bag. Also minimizes sharp edges on the bottom. On a commercial mower that lip often gets ground down from going over curbs or stairs.
which mower?
Very thorough review. Well done!
Much appreciated!
One area i would of liked to see is a long grass mowing comparison. Im talking fully grown grass. Maybe that would of helped show power output better. Or mow on a faster speed.
Definitely buying the Milwaukee I've had my sights set on it for awhile. All of my tools are Milwaukee so that's another big seller for me
I see the price went up on the Milwaukee already
Nice comparison Video between the Ego & 1 THE Millwalkee, and the that was awesome.
I just bought the TORO 22" 60v Recycler Mower 04/25/22 from HD I love it, the Personal Pace Drive System is really nice it's flawless.
Tell Brooklyn my yellow Lab Dash say's HI. 👋
Thanks Glenn, Toro is nice we did a review on that also. Still have it and use it from time to time.
When the narrow strip was being cut the center of the blade was being used and not the sharp ends of the blade. If the straight edge cuts why do we need to sharpen the blade at all?
I can tell you, especially with Ego you have to sharpen that laid it will definitely do a better job and leave less stragglers
Is worth Comparing Milwaukee to Toro. toro has one battery port .Let me ow if one big baterry is faster to charge
Brooklyn loves her Dad!
The Milwaukee and Ryobi use the same effective battery voltage so I can at least hope right????
milwakee has a high lift blade but you need to request it
@@shawnmooney5643 Yeah I saw that but it’s a true 21” blade which won’t fit the first generation Ryobi 40v mowers.
It's available for purchase
I have the ego 21” I noticed it leaving Mohawk behind. I have to do 2 passes on my lawn. I keep the blades sharp as well.
Always love your videos. Very informative!
Always try my best thanks Dom
Thank you for sharing your opinion
Great review BUT some people are only audio “this one” doesn’t help “Ego” or “Milwaukee “ would help. Thanks
Ego stuff is great.
Kind of unrelated but wondering why Ego changed the underside of their deck from all smooth like the Milwaukee to the current version with all the little nooks and crannies in the center section.
Not sure definitely don’t like having to clean them, pain in the a…
@@TechMadeEzy I assume for more rigidity with the twin blade and stronger motor but I like the smooth deck of my 2102SP. And thanks for the video, the Ego did quite well in comparison. An excellent design overall.
I've been really wanting to get this Milwaukee mower, because I already run ALL Milwaukee tools, and could use the batteries for other things. Otherwise, there both great units
It seems built very well you can’t make a wrong decision but definitely check the batteries when you get them
Almost two years later. Which mower do you prefer?
I use the EGO most of the time
Great review and comparison! Was going to buy a Milwaukee but now I don't know... Would love to see if the Milwaukee high lift blade makes a difference in cut quality.
Billy thank you and welcome to the channel, I haven't seen you on here
The Hi-lift blade is really good for bagging, it can also help when you have grass that needs to be lifted up in order to be cut that happens sometimes. In reality a good sharp blade will do the job and the Milwaukee has a super powerful motor as well
Now that you have had both mowers for at least a year..which one of these two mowers do you like more? Do you find yourself using one more than the other? Thanks for the great review.
Normally I use the ego platform because of my investment in their batteries 🔋
I’ve used the Milwaukee from time to time but it rarely gets used.
I got the ego select cut after our 6.5hp mower broke. Our grass was as high as it'd grow with seeds coming out of it, but that mower had no trouble eating through it all with the auto drive on.
Most thoroughly done review I’ve see. … did you use the mulch blade on ego ?
Hey thanks so much 🙏🏼
Most of the time yes, and when I bag I use the high lift blade
Thank you for doing this comparison!
Thank you Lerium for watching
I have a Milwaukee lawnmower with those batteries ,the indication lights are supposed to light up on the battery , it must be defective
Otherwise, keep up the good work!
been waiting for this
How much effort when the self propelled is off? Are you able to back up with either mower?
No issues
I'm debating between these 2 mowers, from your experience using both which do you prefer overall?
They’re both very good mowers, I’ve used Ego products personally but if you’re not in one or the other ecosystem, you can’t go wrong with any of the two definitely
@@TechMadeEzy If you could only pick one?
Milwaukee
Great video I really enjoy these.
Thank you
I will be going to an electric probably next year. This has been very informative.
Thank you Dennis
