I think there is a lot of design philosophy pre 1980s that was really nice. If you look at clothing from the 1990s you will see not much of a difference to today.
Popular clothing from say 2003 is exactly like 2020. Which would be a tshirt and jeans. There are people now who think going out with a Polo shirt with a little horse on it and jeans is dressing up. I have nothing against the Polo shirt with the little horse but it is not dressing up.

I DO HOPE THIS STYLE COMES BACK AND GIVE US THE PLEASURE TO lOOK NOT ONLY THE COLORS , STRUCTURES AND STYLES OF THE BUILDINGS, BUT THE INTERIOR DESIGNS, THE BRONZE STATUETTES, THE POTS, THE MIRRORS, THE FURNITURES, THE CARS ,ELEVATORS , FASHION DESIGNS, ETC., ETC. JUST EVERYTHING FROM ART DECO IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE MAGNIFICENT. TKS

Modern designers are NOT, capturing the versatility, variety, colour and richness of this design style, not by a long shot. Nothing on modern design compares to this. Nothing. Certainly, not anything that has gone mainstream for over twenty years now.
Modern designers may be inspired by it, but they are not capturing the look well, at all.

It would be more of a neo-classical aesthetic I suppose since it's the Western world's basis. Art Deco is influenced by Orientalism because of the novelty and outlandishness - mainly Egypt and Japan. It's all about the adventure and exploration that came with mainstream travelling and tourism at that time.

I couldn't believe they didn't realize what it was -it should have been in the case. I inherited a diamond wedding ring some years back that I had redesigned with an art deco custom mounting. And guess what - I had my bathroom remodeled a few years ago. I now realize after seeing your video I had this remodel done with art deco touches without even realizing it! The art deco style has such clean lines.

Art Deco, Baroque and Neo-Baroque, Haussmannian and Roman architechture...both for outside and inside, remains the best and most beautiful architecture period, the reason why they couldn't be mass produced in the 40's-70's was because one of the most important core components of them is the height, they rely on having VEEEERY tall roofs inside, as in, you enter one of these magnific constructions and you look up, and the roof over your head should always be at the very least 3.5M above you , ideally, 5 Meters...Today this wouldn't be much more difficult or expensive than building normal generic rooms, which usually top out at 2.6M of height, if the construction company would use as much machinery and automated procedures to build such buildings, chances are that today, we could see an entire city in the real world look like Rapture from the Bioshock games...and it wouldn't be all luxury but rather very affordable pricing...problem is, in order to do this, a corporation would use very little actual human labour, be forced to go through an olympic amount of hoops and regulations and permits and fees and licenses and this and that and that...making the ugly soviet blocks of 2.6M height per floor with some "fancy" brick facade outside "the ideal" for any macro-project of infrastructure-architecture.
The soviets really did win the cold war.
All architectures are pretty and all should live among eachother in a big country, to better allow its citizens to pick where to live, even the ugly soviet square boxes...but today the Art Deco - Baroque architechtures are being severely forbidden from competing fairly with the generic soviet blocks, outdated and quite weak looking Victorian Colonial U.S architechture, and post-Modern asian types.
    Why????? Food for thought.

@@ivanj.conway9919 Sorry to say, it will be a tiny little pipsqueak call for revival of pre-ww2 architecture and interior decor, if any. The overwhelming (95%+) majority of people prefer sterile minimalist interiors and frankly couldn't give a toss about architecture and if they did, the preference would be sky-high glass and steel structures. All over the world, the majority of rich are paying millions for horribly hideous overpriced glass boxes passing for luxury houses/apartments with soulless interior decor. The middle to upper-middle class are more interested in lifestyle (gym, swimming, big screen tv, latest electronic gadgets etc) than traditional art and architecture. Even the people in European cities with gorgeous historic centres prefer to live in modern/contemporary dwellings even though they may admire the architecture of their forefathers. So what hope is there.

@@kenlee1416 : Hi Ken. How are you? Thank you for your reply.
I'm so pleased and reassured to know that there are those out there, who think as I do, regarding interior design. Even if we represent a pipsqueak percentage of the overall, global, population, we exist, we are here, and I believe we have a valid point to try to get across to the world, that being; the decline of art and beauty in this world, and the need to begin to restore it, again.
For me, I don't see it as a return to the past, at all, per say, but a return to something that was better and richer than what we have today. Something that was loaded with warmth, character and charm. The architecture define the people to a large degree, and better, richer and warmer architecture for people to live in, will I think, create better and warmer and hopefully, classier people in the world today, and that can only, be a good thing.
I myself, will forever, buck against what is considered the norm today, and will never consider myself dated or passed it in regards to where interior design is concerned. I am proudly, retro and make no apologies to anyone for it. I never, ever, intend to change either.
Yes My Friend, it's sad and depressing times indeed, for those of us who think as we do, but simply, because we are currently, in the minority and maybe, a huge, minority at that, does not mean we are wrong in our perspective, regardless.

I was looking for some inpsiration for a 1930s house I have built in the sims. I built it based on the Sun House in Camrbidge which I found interesting, but I have no idea what it looks inside. This gave me a good idea of what it could be. thank you :)

I would suggest studying the arts and crafts movement from a design perspective. It may give you an insight into Art Deco.
My house is arts and craft because that is how I was trained as a furniture maker by my grandfather. I can see the themes from arts and craft present within art deco but with a new creative element.
Everything is so bland in the modern world that it is frightening.

You have confused Art Deco with Streamlined Moderne Most of the architecture is Deco but all the cars are Streamlined Modern. Art Deco is vertically linear and ornamented with angular lines.. Streamline Modern is horizontally linear in orientation giving the feeling of forwarding motion and with little ornamentation. Aviation was its inspiration
Obviously, Modern design had some roots in Art Deco hence the similarity.
ie, Art Deco is shown @1:10 or @1:37 Streamlined Modern @2:09, @0:29 and @3:16

Art Deco, Arts and Craft and Art Nouveau overlap on many occupations where it can be difficult to distinguish.
What happened sometimes as well was that Art Deco was built on top of Arts and Craft and Art Nouveau merging them into one form.
