I keep referring to this, thank you for this. I'm going to get two S2421H. Thank you for this post. I found myself here again one year later! I've already purchses 2 and now going to buy another :) Your video helps with the model selection. Thanks again.
Hey Tim, thanks for commenting, if not I won't know how helpful my video is. I am so glad my video is so useful to the extend someone referred back to it multiple times. This is the first time someone telling me this. Thank you so much, makes my effort worthwhile.
Oh wow, thank you so much for such kudos. Yes, I try to cover topics that are not covered by others. Help me share my videos or channel on your social media so my content can reach many others more. Cheers!
I recently bought the S2721H for $150 and I absolutely love it. I use it primarily for work, but it’s also great for watching movies and playing games.
I am looking monitor reviews since I am interested to buy dell monitor. This is the first where I got to know about difference between H, HN, and HS suffix in model name of monitor. Thanks for that. Secondly also you have given closer look of monitor and it's hardware design, that is also impressive stuff.
Just ordered the HS, managed to get it for £136 with student discount. Can’t wait till it comes. Shame about the lack of speakers but I usually wear headphones anyway
I recently switched to this S2721HN monitor from Dell SE2719H from 2019 just for its vesa mount. The build quality of S2721HN however is very low than the old SE2719H model-the buttons are flimsy and the back is a really cheap plastic. Even the vesa mount is mounted on a plastic frame from inside. The new 75Hz panel however is smooth and the colors are as accurate as the old one!
Hi Arun, yes I kind of agree that the built quality are not so great. It's a budget monitor and Dell choose to cut down on the external plastic. I am glad they didn't cut cost on the panel which is what monitor is all about.
Very informative and good video. Everything you said was clear and I decided to pass my order to Dell. Thank you you for your time and knoledge. Richard
that was a very nice review. i want to get this monitor, where I'll be doing mostly reading documents, emails etc. the ppi for 27 inch 1080p seems to be a bad idea because of the pixels being noticeable. I have seen other lg monitors which are priced similarly to this. Do you think it wise to go for this or save up some more and get a 2k 27 inch?
Hi Rahul, if you are someone who will notice the pixel, then I suggest it's better you save and go for a 2k QHD 27 inch. I have upgraded to 2k QHD 27 inch and I bought two of them. The reason I upgrade is not because of the visible pixel, but it's because of the monitor resolution real estate. I get to see SO much more with a 2k QHD. This is my Dell QHD monitor th-cam.com/video/M97wwlmamtA/w-d-xo.html where the price is not a lot more expensive compared to this Dell 1080p monitor.
hello, what can you say about the brightness level and the black levels? im using an lg 27GN65R and it has good black levels but i really don't like some aspects of it like the feet and other stuff,on overall it has good color being 99%srgb but i really want to test an Dell and see if i like as it is more professional. i don't care much about high fps because i only play at 60fps (60hz) so my main objective is: good image quality, good black levels, good brightness (300cd m/2 is very good), ips with wide angles ofcourse. And the feet, because i found this dell more cheap than the actual LG i have here, it is more interesting due to the fact i can buy an monitor stand gas based (elg f80n) so im very very interested on it... Thank you
I've been looking at these monitors myself. One other difference worth noting is that the HS has a DisplayPort output, but the H and HN do not. Or at least the tech specs don't list it.
Hi JoeyIronHammer that's a good spot. Thanks for sharing this with all of us. I think the HS is designed for office use that's why it has display port and no speakers.
Why is 'slick, professional' so important.. Since there are many other decent monitors without speakers, the info about speakers wattage, sound quality is main reason to consider this model.
Hi Philip242, I bought this monitor because of its (discounted) price and the 'slick and professional' come as a bonus. To be honest, I won't consider this monitor just because it has speakers. The speakers are ok, just mediocre.
@@SkyPerspective Ah, then I think this model would be good enough as present to parents ) You see, they don't have strong hearing sense anyway, also desktop is small.
Thanks for your feedback. The H model is on offer when I made this video. The original price of H is about $350 and the HN is about $300. At the time of this video, the H is on offer selling at $244.
Thanks Celilia, it's the operating systems (Microsoft Windows) that does the mirroring and extension on monitors, the monitor simply displays what the operating systems tells it to display. So check your Dell PC, if it runs Microsoft Windows 10 or above, most likely you will be able to extend or mirror your first monitor.
Hi, do you think all there of these use exactly the same panels? The HS has the swivel stand and a display port and hdmi input rather than two hdmi inputs. It also appears not to have the speakers. We have the younger brother of this monitor the 2421HS inch, and it's a very agreeable no frills monitor. Easy on the eyes. I have a HP 24" monitor with a VA panel, and despite it being a bit more vibrant with higher contrast, it's not very nice to sit in front of and read from. How do your panels compare with each other? And do you think 27inch 1080 is okay, or is it too pixelated? (edit: I see you have answered this question in another comment, and you say the ppi doesn't bother you.) You don't go into that much detail about the actual display! A good tour of the product other than that.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. Yes I try to give all of you information that you can't find online or in any other video, like the physical looks of the product.
I bought it yesterday at office max 159.00 I really like it so far and speakers were a must for me. I wish it were easier to navigate the buttons on bottom to know what you are doing though. Is there a bass and treble adjustment or diff movie, sports, ect picture modes?
Hi Jamie, unfortunately, the speakers are just an addition feature to the monitor, so the monitor's control does not allow us to change much apart from chancing the volume, so no, the bass or treble cannot be changed. As far as I can tell, there is only volume control. I agree, the Dell's monitor control panel navigation can improve a lot. I like Samsung's UI better.
For a kind of hobby, I look in dumpsters and curbside stuff for electronics - PCs laptops Chromebooks, monitors, tablets... I found a Dell S2421hs, with the thin bezel. I wish it was a 27"! Thank you 🤓 the 27" you have here only has HDMI ports? Hmm.. the 24" I found has 1 HDMI port & 1 DP port.
@@SkyPerspective I don't think the Dell monitor I found has a built in camera. The manufacturer build date on mine I believe is December '22, so it's not that old! Thank you 🤓 have you tried a second monitor beside that one for a dual monitor setup?
@J. Lietka yes I have upgraded to QHD monitor since making this video, and now have two QHD monitors set up, one landscape and one portrait. See my latest shorts video, it shows my dual set up on the background. th-cam.com/users/shorts2zRNazNldMY?feature=share

@@main_stream_media_is_a_joke I really liked this product in every way, it has good colors and contrast. And about speakers, its better than i expected. I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s the best for the price in my opinion.
@@ozntr92 Thanks a lot for your response. The one available in my region is S2721HN for around 250$. My 2 main usages will be reading and gaming. So text quality and good dark blacks and vibrant colors while playing games are important for me. If the monitor checks good on both these counts, I will order it immediately.
@@main_stream_media_is_a_joke I’m using it for reading and youtube etc. For gaming, i recommend 144+ Hz monitors especially for fps games. If you are playing games with good visuality, you should look for 2k monitors. I think for 27”, 1080p is not that good for games. 24” 144 Hz will be a better choice for same price. Though, you will not regret if you buy this one, colors and general quality are perfect for me. At this price range, if you are looking for 27” only, its the one without a doubt.
Thank you very much for your hard work! This video is so good.. in helping me understand the silly symbols behind the model name! :):) Very straight to the point to the important stuff! :D
Hi Erik, I really appreciate feedback like yours. I am so glad my video is useful to so many of you. Hope my channel can grow faster so more people can benefit too.
please: does windows 10 look good one this monitor. I mean are the icons and texts very sharp? because they say that 1080p on 27 inch monitor is not good.
Hi Apps Perfect, of course the icon and text will not be as sharp as a higher resolution 27 inch monitor. However, it is still quite usable for avarage day to day use. My most monitor intensive task is I use it for my video editing and I don't have issue with the sharpness. 1440p or higher would be nice for my video editing, but I don't really need that. Another thing to consider is the icons will be a lot smaller on a 27 inch if the resolution is higher. Hope this helps.
Higher resolution on a bigger display will be what you want for coding. If it's the same resolution, I would suggest going for 32" so it's easier for you to see the fine text. However, do take note of the room space or office space you are in. For me, a 32" is way too big for my small room and small desk.
Thanks for this short but to the point review and especially for the comparison. I’m going to buy the S2721HS because of the flexible stand and pivot feature. But I’m curious about the resolution for 27”. Would you please share your comments about this issue? Thanks in advance and enjoy your new monitor
Hi @MrGreyPearl, you are welcome. Yes the HS model stand most likely will be good too. I have used Dell monitors stand before, and they are very stable, pivot well and very easy to install. See how I pivot two of my monitors into portrait in this video th-cam.com/video/3OQh7DOR4bo/w-d-xo.htmlm13s The resolution of this S2721H monitor is 1080p (1920x1080) resolution. This resolution is good enough for me, any higher resolution I will need to upgrade my video card. Is this what you are asking about the resolution?
@@SkyPerspective i think hes asking about how it looks as the ppi on paper seems quite low and ive seen a bunch of articles saying to avoid 1080p 27inch but i sit far away from my monitor anyways so it wont matter much
@@Archman155 Oh I see. Thanks. Yes, I agree. MyGreyPearl, if it's PPI you are asking, then don't worry about it. I didn't even notice it's a problem, not even when I use it for video editing. Yes if you move really close and stare at the screen you can see the pixels, but that's not how we use the monitor. Have a look at the section of the video where I demo the menu navigation, it's not very obvious at all.
A good review, thank you. Has anyone used this with an 13" early 2015 MacBook Pro? If so, were you able to use HDMI -> HDMI, or did you have to go Thunderbolt -> HDMI?
Thanks for the feedback. I happen to have a 13" late 2012 Macbook Pro, and I have just tested it for you. I can confirm HDMI to HDMI works. Maybe someone with a 2015 MacBook Pro can help us confirm this too.
S2721HN IS GOOD FOR TEXT BASED WORK LIKE CODING , NORMAL VIDEO EDITING , WATCHING MOVIES ? TEXT SHOWING PIXELATED AND BLURRY OR NOT ? SHOULD I BUY ? PLZ SUGGEST BCZ 2K MONITOR IS VERY COSTLY
Hi smileinurhand, to be honest, I have never done a calibration of this monitor before as it works perfectly fine out of the box. There is a "Calibrate display colour" option in Microsoft Windows control panel, you can use that to calibrate the monitor. I have never tried that before. Hope this helps.
Pretty sure the S2721HN does not have any speakers, no speakers. However I am not sure if it has the audio line out. I don't have this model to confirm. Maybe someone who has this HN will kindly comment here to confirm.
Hi Melvin, that's interesting. I am not sure and could not see the reason why.. This is not the case in my country Australia. Could it be the H model in your country is on sale and the HN is not?
@@SkyPerspective Just found your channel while searching for Dell monitors.. From Dell website: S2721HN =$319; S2721H =$359.01 and S2721HS=$419... Looks like H was on sale. Anyway ordered the HS model and planing to add Creative Stage Air soundbar @$59
@@SkyPerspective Managed to get the S2721HS @$359 from a DELL Reseller with 3yrs warranty. Very happy with it. Btw, the audio line out volume is much louder than the previous Samsung screen using the same Logitech speakers. Do not need to get the Creative soundbar anymore.
It's just a monitor, so it needs an actual computer. This monitor takes in HDMI and has speakers so we can also plug in a TV stick like Google's Chrome cast or Amazon Fire stick. Hope this helps.
Hi AntMan, it's ok, but I didn't use it as a vertical monitor because it's too big. It's too tall when it's in vertical position. I had to look up to see the top of the monitor.

@@antonyo4u Any 24 inch monitor would be a good size. You may want to get one with consistent bezel thickness like this one th-cam.com/video/GONBftEJTTo/w-d-xo.html so you won't have one side thicker than the other three sides.
@@SkyPerspective that's ok ,I changed my socket to 16A ,why we should take risk , right,by the by your video presentation is nice. Thanks for the reply
Hi Maltebyte2, I haven't heard anything like that. If I were to guess, I would guess that Dell has too many types of power plugs for different types of monitor models and laptops and might have got some power plugs mixed up. They are a large manufacturing company. Is that what you are asking?
Hi Ashley, 1080p is just enough for a 27" monitor. Occassionally there are times I wish my monitor is 1440p when I am doing my video editing, where I need more screen real estate. Apart from that 1080p is ok for 27" for most activities, so if you can go for 1440p.
I haven't used the benq before but I really like the ambient sensor on the benq which I kind of wish my Dell has. Everytime when I work on the Dell monitor I had to manually adjust when day turns to night. Hopefully others who have used both can tell us more.
@@tronicx6770 yes, on the Dell is called Comfort view when blue glare is reduced to prevent eye strain. I turn that on when day turns to night as mentioned earlier.
I have a problem with the monitor level 1 volume sounds like it’s at 70 level on both Mac and PS4 , do you also have this problem with the built in speakers ? How can I fix this
No, I don't have that problem. I set my Windows PC volume at 50 and the monitor volume at 60% and they sound just right for me. I have not connected the monitor to a Mac or PS4 before, so not sure about this. Maybe someone else who has connected this monitor to a Mac or PS4 might be able to confirm if they have this same issue.
@@pepsicolazero Erm, no not really. I know we can download monitor drivers and firmware for updates, but I never have the need to do that. Tech devices like monitor should be simple to use, plug it in and it should just work. Usually, Dell will ensure Windows will have the right drivers and I suspect Apple (Mac) would be the same.
I have old dell monitor (U2414h) which has height adjustable stand. So i want to know that is it possible to buy this Dell S2721HN monitor and use my old stand??? Can i use my old stand with S2721HN ???
Hi Amit, I am not sure about Dell monitors like U2414h. Is the size of U2414h a 24 inch monitor? What I would recommend is.... not to use a 24 inch monitor stand for a 27 inch monitor even if the stand fits. The reason is because the weight and width of a 27 inch is bigger and heavier, and most likely too much for the stand. Hope this information helps.
Hey Soundsoulogy, thanks! I started this channel as a past-time hobby, surprised to see 100+ subscribers now. Yap let's keep producing great content for our audience, and hope they will like it. I love the music on your channel, great work.
I bought this exact monitor, S2127H, but it has a very annoying bug: after the computer shuts down, a message pops up on the screen saying that there is no hdmi cable connected and the display will eneter standby in 4 minutes. I currently haven't found a way to disable this message. I can't believe this issue exists. The monitor keeps staying on for the whole 4 minutes after it shuts off.
Hmm.... I just tested mine, pretty sure mine does not have this problem. I shut down my PC and the monitor goes into standby within less than 8 seconds. The power light started pulsating in stand by mode, with the display turned off. For your comparison, I only have 1 HDMI input connected. My second HDMI is not connected.
I just realised something. The message you got is "No HDMI cable connected". When I shut down my PC I get three messages on this display: "Scanning for signal", "No HDMI1 signal from your device" and then "Going into Standby Mode" and then the display went off. Each message is about 2 seconds. Hope this help.
@@SkyPerspective Thanks for replies. I found the issue in my case. It seems that something was wrong with my HDMI cable. I changed the cable with another one and now it works as you said it does. This is very weird. Because the HDMI cable "feels" good, but when powering the PC off it doesn't trigger the monitor properly and makes it feel that the cable is disconnect.
Well done, finding out it was your cable. Yes, now a days cables like HDMI carry a lot of different signals. Glad it all worked out for you. I am happy I can help in some ways. 👍
I also just bought a dell s2721hn when I turn off the computer and there are 3 similar sentences. But after shutting down the light is blinking and won't go off. Can you just help?
Hi, the Dell monitor is about the same as the Samsung C27F390. In fact, I prefer the text and sharpness of the Samsung more than the Dell, even though they are both good. May I know why are you disappointed with the Samsung Text quality? I use the Samsung for video editing and the text looks crisp and clear to me, both big and small font text.
@@SkyPerspective I work for a news website so I have to read and write a lot of text every day. I find it not crisp, like it was on my old 21,5” monitor. Some people say it’s a va panel problem, but tou say that the Dell (IPS) isn’t good also. Maybe 1080p isn’t good with 27”
Yap, that would be it. Text on a 22 inch monitor will definitely be sharper and more crisp. 27 inch is two sizes up from 22 inch, which is why you felt the difference. Hmm... Seems like you may need a higher res monitor like QHD or UHD. Most likely you will feel the Dell the same as the Samsung. They are both FHD 1080p.
I bought this screen and my old screen was samsung sf350 but when I compare both samsung colors is much better and even for my eyes It's good I dont' know if it's an option to adjust it I tried the setting but nothing work even I regret buying it
Samsung CF390 is a bit better than this Dell S2721HN, in my opinion. I like the curve screen and deep black of CF390. Having said that Dell S2721HN is pretty good too.
Hi Mehmet Şahin, it really depends on individual preference. As for my preference, I prefer the Samsung CF390. The reason is because it's glossy (make colours more vivid) and it's a curved monitor.
@@SkyPerspective Firstly, I really want to thank you for answering. I'm not a gamer but I play games sometimes. I will run some civil engineering softwares also word excel etc. and watch some movies. So, I'm a bit confused. Should I go for Dell S2721HGF or Dell S2721H? Which one has more quality 27'' screen? (Price diffrence is 70 euro for me.) 144hz and contrast ratio looks good but I dont know which one is good for me.Design and material quality are important also. Thanks for your answering and also these good contents!!
@@mehmetsahin4130 You are very welcome. Everyone personal preference is different. If you were to ask me, for your use case, I would recommend going for S2721HGF. The spec of HGF is a lot better and worth the extra cost. Design is subjective, but I am pretty sure the build quality is better on the HGF. The best part of S2721HGF is that it's a VA panel vs IPS panel on S2721H. VA has a much higher contrast ratio which means black looks more black. Typically response time on VA panel is slower than IPS, and viewing angle is worse on VA compared to IPS. However, in this case, S2721HGF has the same viewing angle and better response time than S2721H, maybe because it's on a higher price bracket monitor. The S2721H is really an entry model monitor. So these are my personal view. Just letting you know, if you really want to extend your appreciation, you can easily buy me a coffee ( www.buymeacoffee.com/skyperspective ). @@mehmetsahin4130 My pleasure, I am learning a lot from you too. I didn't know Dell has all these models until you asked me. Please feel free to keep asking me questions. The main difference between DS and HGF is resolution. DS is QHD and HGF is only FHD. Having higher resolution QHD on DS allows you to see more when you are doing civil engineering software and word excel etc. In fact, QHD is my ideal resolution for my video editing. Graphics card becomes critical because it needs to drive more pixel on DS QHD screen, especially when playing games. So make sure your graphics card can handle. For the same price, if you get DS, you are paying for the higher resolution, while getting a mediocre design and built quality. The built quality and design (curved screen) are better on HGF. Once again, my personal preference, I would go for DS because I value higher resolution (screen real estate) over curved screen for the same price. The only thing you are giving up on the HGF is the 3000:1 contrast ratio compared to DS's IPS display with contrast ratio 1000:1. This means you don't get that deep black on the HGF. Have a think how often you need to see the screen displaying black - playing games? watching movies? If not often, then go for the DS. After researching all these, I am tempted to get the DS for its QHD resolution too. 😄 Thank you so much for supporting my work and my channel. Glad I can help.

Yes, happy to help. On the computer that you connect to the monitor, make sure you go to sound settings and switch the sound output over to dell monitor. The computer should recognise additional audio output after you connect the monitor. The HDMI connection carry the audio signal from computer to the monitor speaker. Do you mean the last "S" in S2721HS? I don't know if they are meant to stand for anything, but if I were to guess, I think that "S" would stand for "stand", as in the swivel tilt monitor stand.
Yes if you are after FHD resolution. The matte finish makes it good for programming. It's a good size to display minute fonts on IDE too. If you can afford, you can also consider going for a higher res monitor like a QHD monitor at 27inch. That would be my ideal font proportion to do programming task on a 27inch.

@@keanureevesfather7166 Oic, thanks for clarifying. Without seeing the actual HP monitor, and just comparing specs and price on the web, they are very very similar in terms of resolution, refresh rate and IPS panel. The only main difference I can see is the Dell S2721H supports AMD FreeSync up to 75Hz refresh rate, and HP does not appear to have this. The Dell S2721 comes with only 2 HDMIs, whereas HP offers the same plus an extra VGA source. Note HP 27f does not have VESA mount, but the monitor looks a lot more thin and sleek. Personally, I would still go for Dell because my impression of HP is always overpriced for its value and quality, and I like to VESA mount monitor for versatility. Researching on the prices on Amazon Australia, as expected, the HP is a lot dearer. I may be biased here though. 🙂

For me I bought it during black Friday sale last year in Australia Dell website.

Oh! thanks for sharing the information with everyone here! 👍
I am looking monitor reviews since I am interested to buy dell monitor. This is the first where I got to know about difference between H, HN, and HS suffix in model name of monitor. Thanks for that. Secondly also you have given closer look of monitor and it's hardware design, that is also impressive stuff.
Thank you so much for your feedback. I appreciate knowing this. Makes my effort making this video so worthwhile.
Just ordered the HS, managed to get it for £136 with student discount. Can’t wait till it comes. Shame about the lack of speakers but I usually wear headphones anyway
Hi Leo, the speakers are good back up speakers and something I am sure you can do without. Enjoy your new monitor.
@@SkyPerspectiveI totally agree! Keep creating :)

that was a very nice review. i want to get this monitor, where I'll be doing mostly reading documents, emails etc. the ppi for 27 inch 1080p seems to be a bad idea because of the pixels being noticeable.
Thank you for the review!! Well done!!
Your are welcome. Thanks for the encouragement.
hello, what can you say about the brightness level and the black levels? im using an lg 27GN65R and it has good black levels but i really don't like some aspects of it like the feet and other stuff,on overall it has good color being 99%srgb but i really want to test an Dell and see if i like as it is more professional. i don't care much about high fps because i only play at 60fps (60hz) so my main objective is: good image quality, good black levels, good brightness (300cd m/2 is very good), ips with wide angles ofcourse. And the feet, because i found this dell more cheap than the actual LG i have here, it is more interesting due to the fact i can buy an monitor stand gas based (elg f80n) so im very very interested on it...
Thank you
I got this monitor for $110, awesome monitor , speakers are good for the price. Recommended. !
Wow! Great deal! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks for the helpful video explaining the differences
Glad it was helpful!
HS doesn't have speakers tho
thank you for this "Dell models differences" - very detailed difference!
You are very welcome, and thanks for letting me know. So happy my videos are helpful to all of you.
@@journey4109 Good call. 👍
Just bought to use with my ps4. Thanks for the vid, its arriving on thursday
You are welcome.
Nice video, well done. Just wondering why the HN model has no built-in speakers but cost more than the H model? Thanks
Thanks for your feedback. The H model is on offer when I made this video. The original price of H is about $350 and the HN is about $300. At the time of this video, the H is on offer selling at $244.
Very Informative video but I need to know if it will extend or mirror my Dell PC. Do you know the answer please?
Thanks Celilia, it's the operating systems (Microsoft Windows) that does the mirroring and extension on monitors, the monitor simply displays what the operating systems tells it to display. So check your Dell PC, if it runs Microsoft Windows 10 or above, most likely you will be able to extend or mirror your first monitor.
@@SkyPerspective Thank you so much for getting back to me.
You are very welcome. I hope I have answered your question.
@@SkyPerspective Indeed you have. I'm going to buy it for my client.
This or the P2419h ..which do you think is better?
Yes mine only has hdmi, not display port. A similar model has both. If I remember correctly it's the S2722Z or something. It has a pop up camera

At this price range, if you are looking for 27” only, its the one without a doubt.

please: does windows 10 look good one this monitor.
I do coding work. which screen size do you recommend, 27" or 32"? Thanks
Higher resolution on a bigger display will be what you want for coding. If it's the same resolution, I would suggest going for 32" so it's easier for you to see the fine text. However, do take note of the room space or office space you are in. For me, a 32" is way too big for my small room and small desk.
Hello, I am wondering what is the difference between HN and HS in height of the screen from the table when HS is set to the lowest position?
Thanks for this short but to the point review and especially for the comparison. I’m going to buy the S2721HS because of the flexible stand and pivot feature. But I’m curious about the resolution for 27”. Would you please share your comments about this issue?
Thanks in advance and enjoy your new monitor
Hi @MrGreyPearl, you are welcome. Yes the HS model stand most likely will be good too. I have used Dell monitors stand before, and they are very stable, pivot well and very easy to install. See how I pivot two of my monitors into portrait in this video th-cam.com/video/3OQh7DOR4bo/w-d-xo.htmlm13s
The resolution of this S2721H monitor is 1080p (1920x1080) resolution.

How is this as a vertical monitor?

I head something about the powerplug not fitting! what is that about?
Hi Maltebyte2, I haven't heard anything like that. If I were to guess, I would guess that Dell has too many types of power plugs for different types of monitor models and laptops and might have got some power plugs mixed up. They are a large manufacturing company. Is that what you are asking?
Do you think 1080p is enough for 27 inches ? Or do you recommend 1440p
Hi Ashley, 1080p is just enough for a 27" monitor. Occassionally there are times I wish my monitor is 1440p when I am doing my video editing, where I need more screen real estate. Apart from that 1080p is ok for 27" for most activities, so if you can go for 1440p.
Does the screen have a matte or glossy finish?
Matte finish.
@@SkyPerspective I would like a glossy finish but those monitors are very hard to find these days,
Do you prefer this or benq gw2780?

@@pepsicolazero Erm, no not really. I know we can download monitor drivers and firmware for updates, but I never have the need to do that.

Hello. I have the Samsung C27F390 and I am very disappointed from the text quality. Is the text better in the Dell monitor?

Looking side to side, the Samsung monitor seem to have much better colour vibrancy. Are the Dell colours really washed out like this?
Yes, that's because this Dell monitor uses an IPS panel and has matte finish, while this Samsung C27F390 uses a VA panel and has a glossy finish.
I bought this screen and my old screen was samsung sf350 but when I compare both samsung colors is much better and even for my eyes It's good I dont' know if it's an option to adjust it I tried the setting but nothing work even I regret buying it
Hi Khalid, you might be used to using VA panels. Samsung monitors are usually VA panels whiles this Dell monitor is IPS panel.

No not the stand that comes with it. So only the S2721HS has the stand that can rotate the monitor vertically, not the S2721H and S2721HN.
Do yo know what the difference is between this and the x?
Is it better than the samsung cf390??
Samsung CF390 is a bit better than this Dell S2721HN, in my opinion. I like the curve screen and deep black of CF390. Having said that Dell S2721HN is pretty good too.
Which one is your suggestion samsung or dell ? And why ?

@@SkyPerspective I really appreciate for your answer!! Lastly, I would like to ask that which one is better if you compare Dell S2721DS vs Dell S2721HGF. (Both are same price for me) Thank for your answeing and also we love your content!!
Glad I can help.

i guess you said it opposite way round . H without speakers hence lower price. HN with speakers. and HS with height adjustable stand
How do you tilt the monitor? I tried to move it around but I'm afraid of putting too much force and damaging the monitor. Btw, great video review!
Can it power it’s self or does it need a ps4 or a pc to power it
It needs its own power supply plugged directly into the wall power socket. Hope this answers your question.
This profile is quite THICK. Should be durable, but you can say Thin profile ultra slim for ACER HA240Y and HP 24F monitors. Those are thin ultra thin profiles
May I ask do we need any screw to connect the stand and the monitor?
No, no screw. Once we push the plate into the slot on the monitor, that's it. Happy to help if you have any more question. Thanks for commenting and subscribing.
Hi!! I have the same monitor and I can't hear anything...can you help me????
Yes, happy to help.
On the computer that you connect to the monitor, make sure you go to sound settings and switch the sound output over to dell monitor. The computer should recognise additional audio output after you connect the monitor. The HDMI connection carry the audio signal from computer to the monitor speaker.
Happy to help further if you need more detail information. I can share instructions of how to do this. Just let me know.
Are you using Windows or Mac or mobile device to connect to this monitor?
@@SkyPerspective I use Window 10 and actually, I need more details information, because I don't get it...
@@emillylevine1505
1) Click on the speaker icon on the bottom left of your Windows taskbar. (Look for the standard windows speaker icon)
2) You should see the current speaker audio output and volume control. There is a expand up arrow on the right corner, click on that.
3) After you expand that option, you should see Dell S2721H monitor speakers displayed as one of the audio output options. Select that and your audio sound should now be going to the Dell Speakers.
This is how you can switch your audio output source on Windows 10.
Let me know if you need more help.
@@SkyPerspective I try this and I don't see any Dell S2721H...
@@emillylevine1505 Hi Emily, then maybe your computer video graphics card may not support audio over HDMI. What I can confirm is the Dell S2721H speaker option appears on my windows speaker options once I plug the monitor in, I don't have to do any extra settings. Dell support is pretty helpful and they should be able to help you given you have bought their monitor. Let me know if you still need any help from me.
Any mouse lag? I’ve just got it and it feels very laggy. I use it with my laptop and whenever my mouse cross to the other monitor it feel significantly slower to the point it feels like it’s unusable.
Any solution?
Pretty sure mouse response is something to do with your laptop or mouse, not the monitor.
Have you tried a different mouse, is it also laggy when you use the touchpad on your laptop? Have you tried adjusted the mouse tracking speed? Also you can try using a different computer to see if the issue is still there. Hopefully these will help you narrow down where the issue is.
@@SkyPerspective The mouse on my computer is fine and snappy but whenever I switching to this monitor it just feels draggy. same with typing just a little laggy. tried everything from reducing the resolution to the lowest, using only the second monitor, and setting the response time to "extreme" but nothing worked.
the touchpad feels draggy as well.
I'm gonna try it plugging it into a desktop to see if anything changes.
thanks for the tip tho.
Interesting. The other thing you can try is to try using the other hdmi port to see if it's the same. Just another suggestion.
@@SkyPerspective @Sky Perspective I found the issue!! in advance display settings for some reason, it said 29hz (interlaced) I went to "Display adapter properties for Display 2" and changed it to 60hz and that solved the issue lol.
So glad I didn't have to return it. loved the monitor, can't see any backlight bleed as compared to the ViewSonic 2k 32 inch monitor which was quite bad.
Oh, I commented on the wrong video. I have the Dell 27 Monitor - S2721Q not the ones you have in the video. Whoops.
But thanks for your help! You got a new subscriber =)
please help i have a S2421HS monitor and i can’t hear anything
Hi Ftos Tay, that's because the HS model does not have any speakers. There may be an audio output headphone jack. You can plug a speaker into that.
do you know please how to split the screen into 4 like on the box
Sorry I don't understand what you mean by splitting the screen into 4.
@@SkyPerspective OK sorry on my box it shows the screen but in four views or windows, my monitor came without instructions!
@@bsa5650 oh ok. No worries. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks.
is this a good monitor for the ps4 pro
Hi Mintz, I am not familiar about ps4 gaming. Maybe someone who knows can comment when they see this.
what "S" stand for?
Do you mean the last "S" in S2721HS? I don't know if they are meant to stand for anything, but if I were to guess, I think that "S" would stand for "stand", as in the swivel tilt monitor stand.
Would you recommend this for programing?
Yes if you are after FHD resolution. The matte finish makes it good for programming. It's a good size to display minute fonts on IDE too. If you can afford, you can also consider going for a higher res monitor like a QHD monitor at 27inch. That would be my ideal font proportion to do programming task on a 27inch.
@@SkyPerspective Thank you for the response great video man
it is compatible with the ps4
Is the screen matte or glass?
It's matte finish.
Is this sRGB ?
Thanks
You are very welcome.
the new dell pad with it's phone like speckers
Thanks, built-in speakers sound horrible but at least it has a 3.5mm to plug in some real speakers.
Yap...... 🙂
You are welcome.
Is this screen glossy?
No it's matte
How do you make a 12 min review on a monitor and not mention a single thing about the panel
Oh that's because I don't know much about the panel and I didn't want to give wrong info. Thanks for your honest feedback.
Does it have a webcam?
No, it does not have a webcam.
Anyone know what hz?
75

how to take off the stand
Hi Mark, there is a pin hole at the location where the stand plate is inserted into the monitor. We can insert a screw driver into the pin hole to release the latch, in order for us to pull out the stand.
This is the pin hole as shown in the video :

How good is the monitor for video editing please
@@vibeswitht1380 It's ok. I kind of wish it's a 1440p resolution for video editing. I use my Samsung C27F390 (also 1080p) as the main monitor for my video editing because the colour is better. This dell is my secondary monitor where I use it to organise video files when I am doing video editing.
@@SkyPerspective does it have bluetooth capability?? would i be able to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse , airpods etc
hey.. its better than hp 27f
Oh is it? I checked out the spec of HP 27f. Why do you think this is better than hp 27f?
@@SkyPerspective i think he is asking wich better and i have the same question 🙂
dell s2721hn, used for 1 year, down. not working anymore.
Thanks for sharing your experience with everyone.
OP
I think so Samsung looks better : D
