    Great video! Very informative. We didn't hear "you should buy these because I like them", instead you laid out the "reasons" why each had its zone and allowed the end user to judge for themselves. New subscriber! I always look for those who put out the facts and let us make our own choices.

    Excellent write up and details about specific parts of the plug itself as well as how they work.
    Helpful hint a small dab of Die-electric greas on the plug tip can help. Around late 90’s wary 2000’s and pretty much the norm was Coil On Plug types. Basically each cylinder is it’s own distribution point. Benefits are no having to stretch wires and in theory each coil pack could be interchanged which is useful for troubleshooting. Aside from extra bolts to keep track of during removal I really haven’t seen many cons of using the COP systems. Spark plug wires could get frayed, cut, worn, even burned on the external engine surfaces where COP is straight into the cylinder and spark plug well. Coil Packs can go bad but overall more reliable and durable than plug wires. Combined with the right plugs can last almost forever. Plugs might be more expensive but remember your not having to buy plug wires. I have had over a dozen COP engines over the years and NEVER had to change or even diagnose a COP system. The one misfire in almost 15 years was narrowed down to a bad plug.....bad from stock as in bad out of the box. Replaced with same plug different manufacturer and no further issues.

      @backyardchevy328  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you🙂 yea i usually wipe some dielectric grease on the inside edge of the spark plug wire with a q tip

    • @stephencannon3140
      @stephencannon3140 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@backyardchevy328 I was headed that direction but got sidetracked. I wrap a dab of the same for electric grease around the coil pack housing to make it a little easier to remove the next time. Some may argue but I believe in Anti-Seize on the plug threads.
      The problem with the extended interval replacement is not so much the plugs themselves but the risk of the plug getting seized in the block. I have a Infiniti with the narrow shell plugs (14mm) which are already narrower than I am used to or would like. They wrk but feel thin and cheap. Leaving them even longer in a engine block to me greatly increases the chances of breaking the tip during removal. If the tip breaks above the block as in above where the socket anchors not a big deal, just remove and release the plug. My concern and however slight it maybe is still there. The plug breaking at the threads which is remote but still a concern. For that reason I am the type that usually R/R the plugs WAY earlier than the manufacturer recommends, maybe not the 25K miles of old school but if fairly easily accessible then I have no problem with R/R at 50/60/75K even if they say 100/125/150K. Good video and good explanation of the difference between the electrode materials, ( copper/platinum/Irridium) for long term reliability.

    The best spark plug for your engine is the original equipment specified in the service manual. Most after market hi perf pkugs are gimmicks and dont actually have any performance gains and may even cause drivability issues. Stick with original equipment plugs. Dont second guess engineers. Check the gap out of the box BEFORE installation. The electrode can get bumped during shipping and the slightest bump
    Could affect the gap. Most modern day engine gap range is very narrow and a lot easier to check Before installation into the engine.
