  • so the rear output seal in my 231 transfer case was installed wrong, but with a little time we figured out the problem and got it replaced.
we also installed the rear track bar finally.

Yeah, it was just a matter of time before you were going to have to do this.. and of course, there are always some strange issues..
I've only gone as high as 3" lift on my ZJ's, with spacers no less. But they did well and never had any problems..
Can't wait to find my next ZJ and install the 3" spacers and extended shocks I have sitting in the garage staring at me every time I go in there!

How did you adapt the electrical plug from old transfer case to the 231

I didn't, i had to leave it unplugged.
You might be able to get an adapter, but im not sure if it will work.

@@cegadventures2492 I just bought this 96 zj and the guy I bought it from put a 231 in it and I saw the plug off and it would not fit. My speedometer and 4 wheel drive light on the dash doesn’t work and I just can’t find any information anywhere

      Oh, so there's 2 plugs.
One on top doesn't plug in, and its just for the 4wheel drive light. Idk how to make that work.
The other plug thats closest to the rear drive shaft, is the speedometer gear housing.
You can try looking for a 231 speedometer housing, but im confused because i was able to plug my factory plug into the new transfer case without any hassle.
