@@boostedmedia I think you're showing utmost professional integrity, as well as respect for your viewers (who are Fanatec's current/potential customers after all), which I know must be a huge challenge while doing sponsored/brand-things-provided content. Haven't seen anyone disagreeing with that, if they are they must be at the absolute bottom of the comments section
@@boostedmediatbh I PERSONALLY feel this channel should have made a video address the Fanatec Customer Issues. Being that the channel had no videos addressing it does stand out to me.. I love the channel but I see that you guys are kind one sided leaning more toward promoting and marketing Items.. as well as the how to videos which have helped me alot.. In my personal opinion, I Was surprised by the silence on the Fanatec Drama here on the channel
@@Bornindafire I considered this a lot and have discussed my reasoning a few times now on Twitter, but happy to respond here too. In fact I scripted out many videos and written statements, but every time I had to ask myself the question "what am I actually achieving by doing this?". In every case I felt that all I would achieve was essentially fuelling drama, which had the very real possibility of causing even more people to email Fanatec to see if their order was impacted. Let's face it, even though it clearly doesn't describe you, many people watch the first 30 seconds of a video and then click off before actually digesting the information in its entirity. Given their customer support was already way behind, I didn't want to do anything that was likely to cause even longer delays for people trying to get support, remembering this impacts everyone trying to get support, from waiting first time buyers to people qith broken equipment waiting for repair or warranty claims. I also didn't want to be seen by the community as "creating drama for views", so this was an important consideration also. So instead I decided to use my time by directly trying to help people in the community by answering questions, whilst also applying pressure directly to my senior contacts at Fanatec. I figured this was the most valuable use of my influence. I also made the decision that while this remains an issue, I would include a segment at the start of every relevant review video stating the current state of any issues that may impact people if they were to purchase the product I'm reviewing. Would I have done things differently from the outset if I'd know the issues would drag on this long, possibly. I'm not sure if you've seen, but I am also in the process of organising a meeting with senior Fanatec staff (and hopefully Thomas the CEO) to try and get some clearer answers to the questions the community have been asking directly. I appreciate that some people may perceive my not making a dedicated video as "not doing anything", but I assure you have have spent hundreds of hours doing what I believe will have the most positive impact for the community overall. You're of course free to disagree with my decisions.
I ordered a deal on Black Friday, which I was over charged and was delivered with bits missing. £1200 in total. I've been competely ignored by customer service for refunds, replacements for over 2 months now. Given the choice again, I'd never spend a single penny with Fanatec again. I have a wheel base and pedals, but no wheel.
i had a load cell go bad on me, wrote emails with them and had to provide video of what was wrong after they got the video proving the fault they stopped answering me all toghether, i just bought the logitech pro wheel and pedals, i will never buy fanatec again no matter how good the product is
I bought the r300 wheel with podiumhub, Podium shifters and buttonmodule for €700 but its not recognized by my DD1 Podium F1 base.. F1 wheel works fine and BMW gtr2 v2 also works fine. After 5 emails and 3 months later they have respond with an pre written email with possible solutions. I found that same email the 1st day i got the wheel. Now it still doesn't work and now i have to make a video for them. Alot of people had the same issue with the podiumhub and DD1 F1 and they all had to sent their DD1 base back multiple times and after months the finally replace the base. But im not gonna send my DD1 to a company that don't even answer in 3 months. There is 1 youtuber that has been sending it multiple times it took like 5 months and the worse thing is after he made video's about etc and started to complain about Fanatec they said send it again in a personal email and they fixed it and delivered it in 3 days back to him. I hate this shit i just upgraded everything from Thrustmaster to Fanatec. I got the DD1 with F1 wheel,R300 wheel not working,BMW wheel,V3 pedals and the shifter and the r300 wheel was the last item i was saving money for and this happend..
@@u982245I had the same issue with them. I went and bought Logitech Pro pedals and I’m so happy with them. I can’t believe Fanatec treats people like this. Never again. I’m done.
I’ll add a bit of balance, I entered Fabatec ecosystem a year ago with the GT DD Pro. I also purchased a McLaren wheel and bought some Black Friday deals (Xbox club sport hub V2, V3 pedals and the new Sparco rally wheel). Each and every order came quickly and efficiently. I had a minor problem with my GT DD Pro wheel and they fixed it really quickly and easily. I know many are having lots of issues but equally there are some out there who have nothing to complain about. I really hope they fix their issues, they have some great products. As ever, humans will always spend more energy and effort to complain, rather than praise, so it always feels skewed negatively. Thanks for the review. May upgrade to the extreme when funds allow.
I agree. Having Fanatec now for a couple years and never experienced bad thing out of their costumer service. Had a minor problem with one of my buttons which broke, but their service was excellent and they fixed it without any costs.
As of Feb 9 2024, I still haven't received my Black Friday order from late November 2023! Everything I ordered was shown as in-stock at the time of order. Buyer beware!
@@mobilePCreviews I can't cancel mine, it's already moved to warehouse (moved weeks ago). i don't expect to receive the items for a while. What a lousy customer experience.
First off: Absolute hats off to Boosted Media for highlighting the shipping issues first, class act as always, not hiding any issues. Having said that: I had to charge back my order from 16 of Nov 2023 because it got memoryholed by them apparently, ZERO news or response from customer support till I chargebacked a few days ago and ZERO feedback from support, but they somehow can still release new products? They should worry about sorting out their logistics pipeline rather than keep shitting out new things to get lost in transit/warehouse.
So far, I really appreciated your review over the others I have seen. You are definitely not paid to hype this Fanatec product to get potential customers falsely over excited to hurry up and order. Thanks for your thorough and honest reviews!
It's awesome, Wil, that you referred to your personal requests for an interview with Fanatec. I find it interesting that Kireth was granted an interview before you, especially as he has no affilitate links and does not benefit from any commercial arrangement with them. That aside, your channel is probably the most respected for reviews. Well done. Regarding the wheel and base, I am quite impressed, but won't be buying one. It's just too expensive. My first direct drive was a DD Pro, and by and large its been great. I had some issues with it (bricked LC pedal on delivery) that took weeks to resolve, before the really bad issues with Fanatec customer service first appeared. That experience has really put me off Fanatec. Great products, iffy quality and poor after-sales. I bought a Logitech G Pro as insurance for when the inevitable second failure would occur. The DD Pro is on my second rig, and gets occasional use. The Logitech is way superior in my view, due to the adjustablilty of the pedals, and correct implentation of Trueforce. I agree with your feelings about it's incredible feeling in GT7. If Fanatec can prove to us all that they truly respect their customers and want to improve their aftersales especially, I might be interested down the track. But for now, especially after watching the Kireth interview, I'm highly sceptical. Great review, Wil.
Generally if CS response times are bad it is attributed to either not enough CS personal or an excess number of issues with the products they are selling requiring CS repair/replacement or a combination of the two. Either way Fanatec is currently or will continue to lose customers as their reputation plummets if these issues are not resolved. It is a lot harder to repair a damaged reputation than it is to initially build and maintain that reputation going forward.
And here I am, I was about to hit buy for the dd pro bundle but f that! I’m glad I stuck around to see review around support etc. It seems to me this company fanatec are not that serious.
Thanks for your review. now coming into sim racing to better improve my real-world experience with high powered cars. I went with the CS DD+ (ordered Saturday, Shipped monday, Delivered Wednesday) but then after looking at wheels and their pricer points decided that the CS DD+ Extreme was a far better deal and option to go with. Luckily I did not open the package & decided to Swap out to the Extreme as its such a great value especially for someone now coming into the sim world.
Yeah, just make all of them the most expensive version and make customers pay more money for the more expensive option. That would definitely be the less greedy option...my god dude.
@@ericmcmanus5179 purposely making a shitty option and forcing customers to buy it is not an admirable business tactic that makes it look like the company is giving you options. Yeah, Fanatec should make only the expensive option available, so we don't have to buy the crappy lite version.
@@kaceydm like it? It's an obviously inferior option that Fanatec creates to induce more sales. A quick release is a quick release. It should be designed solidly from the beginning. It's just another German tactic of engineered obsolescence.
They love trolling. They claim the plastic qr works for 15nm but the original plastic qr2 only holds 8? Are they different or what? Lol they are trolls
@@erikgonzalez2486the only problem for me is that they allow 15 nm on the plastic qr. Regarding pricing it is completely fine if you do the math. The base makes the majority of the price. Saying 1.300 € is too high for this package is simply out of context.
" Fanatec are starting to irritate " Bruh have you seriously been meatriding Fanatec for 10 years and then complain about the very stuff they done that entire time? 😂
@@Daz5Daz don't worry, apparently anyone who doesn't blindly hate Fanatec for anything they do is a dick rider. At least that's what I've gotten from people. But yeah, 1300 bucks and still only with the plastic QR2 that's really shameful.
Don't worry, people ordering the same exact shit that you ordered on Black Friday are getting their orders before you do. Their logistics is DOGSHIT, I can't believe they're continuing to release new shit
Glad I did my research in the middle of January and saw the comments about the orders not being shipped for Black Friday yet. I went with Simagic and my order shipped and was delivered when they said it would.
Held off ordering the DD+ base as I'd heard the rumours about a bundle that would be releasing. Placed my order for the extreme today. Think I'd be pretty pissed if I'd ordered the DD+ base on it's own back in November, had to wait months and then seen this listed. Let's be honest the vast majority of those ordering the DD+ must have been doing it for PS5 / GT7 support. Least Fanatec could do is an upgrade option for the DD+ users to get a GT7 wheel. I'm pleased it's a round rim, I have a F1 2023 and the Mclaren but was going to get a round rim for WRC now I don't need to. Seems delivery issues are improving, ordered and got confirmation that UPS have received the package within 24 hours.
I ordered a DD+ with a different wheel last week, and I'm pretty disappointed by their communication on this. My order is still processing so I could cancel, but I'm afraid that by the time it's cancelled and they refunded the money, the bundle is sold out again or takes months to ship.
@@LeonardPospichal if its still processing then cancelling and getting this wont change ur delivery time much. It looks like they have fixed there delivery issues and people are getting there orders quickly now.
These guys sure do announce a lot of products pretty frequently while not being able to fulfil the orders they already have for existing products. Shows where their concern is.
I think one should just get what they are comfortable with and not try to keep up with all their offerings. I got the DD Pro when it was released. then got the Clubsport RS wheel because the DD Pro wheel I found to be too small and just go the V2 pedals on the Black Friday sale. So stick to a simple setup and not try to follow everything they have going for them. I even got the boost kit and still can’t drive above 5NM. 😅😅
Hmm I don't my Moza R12 at 60- 70% most of the time that's be 6-8 Nm and I love it depending on the sim though it'll rip your arms off lol 100% 12 Nm is absolutely Nuts but letting it go full force in certain situations keeps it very realistic like in a full on crash where it'll peak
Why cant you go more than 5 nm? Also what do you think of it and the V2s? Ive got the t500 at the moment and i just ordered the same setup yesterday 8 hours before they released the extreme haha. fml@@RTR_RRoomes73
I got into the Fanatec ecosystem 2 years ago. Took me like a year to modified my Playseat Evolution so I could mount Fanatec wheels, pedals and manual shifter. I was so happy and now I have 7 steering wheels. I gotta say 320mm feels best for me. I wish the rim was bigger. We need a good GT rim around 320mm that looks like a regular sport car.
At the end of the day, I got the moza r16 v2 and the gs wheel v2, and this thing is just top-notch. The build quality and quick release are what you expect for the price as well as the steering wheel. You dont have to buy extra quick releases, no flex. And of course, the performance is to another level compared to other dd I have owned (moza r9, thrustmaster t818).
Thanks for the review, As a noobie in sim-racing, i had quite a search,.And finally I orderd the GT Extreme with pedals sets. No delay email. So let's see you again in 6 Months :D
I've haven't had any problems with fanatec orders. When I placed my order on black Friday I picked next day shipping (fed ex in US) and they shipped it out that day. My QR2 base side that was back ordered did take a few weeks longer then when they said it would be available, but I didn't hold that date as a guarantee. When I did email support about when it would become available they replied in a day or two. They're not amazon and I don't think you should have that expectation.
Basic bad FANATEC experience: Black friday -> too long -> too shitty quality. My case is 17 days after (living in Czech republic 200 km away from their warehouse :D) and now my whole QR1 system slipping out of the DD GT wheelbase. Then yeah we are happy with fanatec :D
Fanatec continues their anti consumer tricks, forcing you to pay for PlayStation licensing if you want the stronger 15 Nm CSL DD, packaging their GT version with the cheap QR2 light, trying to cover it up by allowing 15 Nm torque using dumb justifications, while forcing old customers to buy the more expensive QR if they want the full force on the wheels they already own…
This is just product segmentation at its worst. I wish they would just have one base in each segment CSL, CS and Podium and stop the stupid 180$ power supplies, the more expensive versions bundled with PS licensing and the 3 QR variants, it’s just dumb and leaves a sour taste in the mouth of customers.
Honestly if you buy anything other than the qr2 lite your just spending money on bling the aluminum wheelside pieces will in all reality wear faster from removal and installation. The design of the product along with it being sandwiched between solid aluminum on the output shaft and a quality stiff wheel means flex will be a non issue with the qr2 lite wheelside piece. The plastic they mold it from is probably stiffer and stronger than the average casted then machined 6061 pot aluminum that is common in this industry. Its the same way in the rc industry, theres a whole market for shitty shiny pretty aluminum parts that are weaker and lower quality than plastic blends that people buy because they automatically think metal is stronger than plastic. Theres a massive difference between a real quality part machined from billet 7075 using american or european stock and the 6061 stuff thats casted and then finish milled from old pop cans and third and fourth run milling slag in china. One will stretch and deform at the limit before shearing clean the other will shatter exposing the ugly pourous metal
@@Pustul You're talking about a stupid $180 power supply. At least if your power supply fails, you can buy a new one. Previously Fanatec did not provide such a service. And people who encountered this problem had to buy a copy in China. Or look for a working power supply on the secondary. That for any person this is Hemorrhoids.
Wow, that wheel is incredibly unattractive! It looks like a 20 dollar toy wheel that you would give a small child... and I say that as the owner of an Asetek Forte round wheel which is not exactly an aesthetic masterpiece (although it gets better when you set the LED colours to something more pleasing). Edit: It's almost like the GranTourismo team have instructed Fanatec to make it look like that? I mean you can say a lot about Fanatec these days but they have proven they can make some very good looking wheels.
Litterally just ordered one after watching your video (with your commission link OFC) so lets see how it goes. Im also in Australia just based in Brisbane 😊. Awesome Video!!
I'm really glad I got the original csl dd with the boost kit. I'm definitely gonna get this new evolution, but I'm gonna wait another year or 2 for the supply issues to be resolved. For any bug to be resolved. For updates to come. And for that full force thing to be integrated. Once all that stuff happens, I'm definitely getting it. In the mean time I still have a very good system to race with.
Well done mate... good you highlight the fanatec issues from the top. Many people like me watch your review before buy any sim product so is good you awere the current risks of buy a fanatec product. Cheers from argentina
I find it odd that they delayed shipment of the DD+ due to Sony approval and right when they get that approval this new wheel is released as a package. Makes me wonder if they did need the approval or they were waiting on approval for this wheel rim and wanted to hold off so people can cancel their current order and order this new package.
Just lies. You can't sell something and not state that while doing so / update customers about it. Don't trust a word they say. And it's not just that but if the product is broken you're not going to get it replaced nor you're going to get a cent back until you do a cc chargeback for it
Upgraded from the DD Pro 8nm base to the Clubsport DD Plus, as I am on Ps5. Was a bit afraid when updating the software, but it worked without issue (455). Looking forward what Full Force brings..I hope to see it on ACC!
$1300 and qr2 lite is unacceptable, I would actually probably buy this if it wasn't for that. A big miss on fanatec's part. The flex you show in the video is awful.
Honestly the majority of the perceivable flex is coming from the rim itself rather than the QR. I'm not sure it would be a whole lot better even with a QR2 Standard. Might be something worth testing in a Short video. What I want to know is why is the QR2 Lite OK for this wheel at 15NM, but not for any other wheel?
@@boostedmediaexactly my point either they are trolling or just spending money on a stronger plastic qr2 instead of adding a metal qr2 which would be pointless either way lol
disagree hard. look at the price breakdown, the dd+ is $1000, the qr2 light is 100.00 that leaves 200.00 for a wheel rim that is specifically designed for GT7 players. that wheel is worth 200.00 retail all day long. the functionality in GT7 alone, especially for convenience, puts it at an easy 200.00 in value on its own. now we arrive at 1300.00. hmmm imagine that.
@@Frankenslide No, QR2 ligt is 59,95 and the QR2 is 99,95. The lite version shouldn't be on that wheelbase in the first place. You think they couldn't have offered the bundle with the QR2 for the same money? I don't think that the wheel is even worth $200.
@@mementomori4972 the thing is, as I said most of the perceivable flex is coming from the wheel itself and not the QR. So upgrading it to the standard or pro QR doesn’t actually significantly improve the experience.
I love your thoroughly informative videos. Please in future reviews of wheels can you include an assessment of their functionality for VR drivers? Pretty important going forward IMO. An update on fanatec customer service. I wrote with an issue last week and got an immediate reply. Have ordered a Q2 mount which was also immediately dispatched via UPS. Looks like they’re getting their act together
Great video as always. “Is it worth your money to purchase to purchase as a wheel and wheelbase or better off buying the base on it’s own”……The answer is you’re better off using your money to buy a swarm of killer bees and use them as a cardigan than buy something from Fanatec 🤷♂️
Does the screen show any GT7 info at all? All I see is speed and gearswitch for the GT7 game... This way it looks like its more a PC wheel with a GT7 logo slapped on, since the screen and led's only seem to work with PC games...
Good review Boosted Media. I have nothing bad to say about your video on this. Hopefully Fanatec can fix their issues and get the detraction to calm down. Thanks.
Maurice's dedication to Fanalab is a godsend, he has taken the time to map/replicate the Rev lights to pretty much every Car in iRacing and AMS 2 and a few in AC. Can't wait to receive my DD+, great video!
are there any downsides/issues updating the extreme wheel to a standard metal QR2 instead of the qr2 lite it comes with? a response would be greatly appreciated, i want to make sure befor tinkering with it! thx!!
@@LorenzoFraustothank you! I will swap it asap with the standard qr2 I had on the DDpro wheel and sell that one along with the dd pro with the qr2 lite. i appreciate the info!
It's nice and all. I have the first version of it, but since I bought the Formula V2.5, I've never used it again. I'm looking forward to a nice upgrade of Formular wheel, with a decent display, 300mm and more ergonomic.
Was naive to hope it would arrive this weekend? I just received an email with invoice advising the next email will ne when the items are shipped with tracking info.
People are receiving their new orders yet still a lot of outstanding orders from November and before. Such a shame as everyone rates the products highly. Sadly I never got to try them. I gave up after 3 months of waiting for in stock products
la prima is a better choice in terms of quality and what you actually getting for the money, the only reason i went with fanatec is because a lot of games are not supported on anything but fanatec logitech or trustmaster, even very recent games (the crew motorfest)
Great review as always! It would be interesting to see a comparison between the QR2 and QR2 Lite on the GT wheel. And see what difference it makes. If the wheel itself is not that sturdy or it's because of the QR2 Lite. And also how the ffb would differ if at all. And answer the question if it would be worth upgrading it to a QR2, on that GT wheel specificly.
Great video as usual. However despite your optimism fanatec has lots loads of customers due to the issues stated by you. Fanatec has a long way to come now
How was it started by will? He reviews products from every company (as do many other creator's) And he has nothing at all to do with the distribution of the products Will review the products given to him, gives an honest review and that's all People listen and either go with 1 if the company he does reviews on He has (nor any other reviewer ) NOTHING to do with Dante's distribution of products So don't be saying shit like "it was started by you" because your putting blame on someone who did nothing besides tell you how good or bad a product was
I like that they’ve upgraded the GT wheel to address basically every complaint I had with the original. I’ve wanted a 300mm round wheel for a while, but I guess I’ll have to wait for one to come up secondhand… $2140 is a lot of money to upgrade for just the wheel. 8nm is enough for me.
@@boostedmedia because they want old customers to pay for the more expensive version when upgrading their existing wheel to QR2 while selling the cheap crap on a new 1300€ product…
@@chriswade9616 First a disclaimer: the modification, per Fanatec will "void" your warranty so keep that in mind. The QR Lite versions have a standoff in the back that pushes a button inside the wheel, this is how the base knows that QR Lite is connected. Simply sanding down the standoff so it can't push the button will trick the base into thinking regular QR is connected. This was NOT advised for QR1 Lite because the QR1 Lite was a TERRIBLE POS but the QR2 Lite is very good, very solid so I think it can easily handle higher forces.
Will , remembering its nice they have provided the option between the base only and bundle, except for those people who supported, were patient, held out despite their lack of communication and pre-ordered the DD+ only to have the ability to switch to the bundle snatched away 2 days before this was announced. Poor timing, and poor handling of this issue.
Yep agreed. Remember that the bulk of this video, including that statement was recorded 3 months ago. We reshot the intro 4 times over the past 3 months just in case the embargo lifted as we’ve been told it could be any moment the entire time. When we were finally given a firm embargo time we went back and reshot the intro one fi crime and edited out a bunch of stuff that wasn’t relevant anymore, as well as adding in voiceovers to correct information that had changed. That particular par slipped through the cracks. I would have worded it differently if recording it today as I absolutely agree they should have been announced together.
I have been having a minor problem with my Fanatec product and the customer service was amazing they would respond consistently within 24 hours. (This comment was posted 5 months after this video released)
I think that this wheel having the GR2-lite but being able to do 15NM probably shows that there is nothing inherently preventing the lite from handling that torque. More-so that this is a forced "upsell" by Fanatec marketing to get people to spend the $100 on the regular QR2 instead. I'm sure that has more profit margin that the cheaper lite..
How does the Wheel compare to the Clubsport RS wheel? I just ordered a DD+ with a Clubsport RS wheel (and QR2) and I'm considering cancelling my order and buying this bundle instead.
I think you’d be happier with the leather RS wheel. Super solid wheel, minimal in its look unless you like the look of the GT wheel and think you’d use the 10 thousand buttons and dials. I had the RS wheel on 8nm DD Pro and I think it would be awesome with the 15nm CS DD+ like driving a real car. I felt the RS was just a little bit too solid for the 8nm DD pro, once you get to 30cm diameter wheels you loose a little bit of strength from the force feedback. I guess it would come down to price and Qr2 upgrades. Not sure but maybe a bit cheaper to get GT wheel in bundle with DD+ ?
Yes, its best to buy the bundle if you are about saving money. I purchased the DD pro bundle and sold the wheel new for $316 plus $20 shipping. Geez with this new one maybe you could sell it for $500-$600+. Seriously, and get a higher end wheel with that money or base for half price.
Nice review! Something that would be very interesting for some of us would be if you could make a video setting the DD for drifting, I've seen with other bases like simagic or moza that they are easier to set for drift, because with them you can adjust the wheel speed without affecting the force, in fanatec as far as I know the speed changes with the force, so I could not set the base to be fast enought but not to stiff for drift. would be nice if you make a video talking about that. thank you very much, we apreciate a lot all you do
Would you recommend this, over the Logitech Pro? It seems "True force" is similar to "Full force". I own Clubs port V3peddals, so the $1300 price is about the same as Logictech.. I only race Gt7 on Playstation.
Don't buy the fanatec before FullForce is available , and watch out for that QR2 Lite Bull Sh*t, might need to pay extra to fix it...... for now Logitech is still the best for GT7 comes to build quality and trueforce
How would you compare it to Logitech G Pro for GT7? Fanatrec has a much bigger ecosystem, but comparing overall experience like responsiveness, overall driving feeling etc.
I have the GT DD pro my only complaint is it is too small. You were right in your other video 300mm feel better, reason why I wish I had this new steering wheel.
Honestly seeing this i really wonder why you cant just get the 15nm on the qr2 lite, this just seems like fanatec really thinks their customers are all idiots, oh no you cant use high torque mode with the qr2 lite unless you buy the super special dd extreme wheel and only then it wont break
@boostedmedia how would you compare the DD+ to the Simucube 2 Sport. Is the slew rate that different? Biggest complaint with the Simucube 2 is audible sound from the base, does the DD/DD+ have that?
Finally a GT wheel that doesn't look to fugly but the qr2 lite and the Flex on the rim are deal brakers, really sad. I'm happy with my DD1 but I would personally sometimes enjoy having even more power like on a DD2 to make things even snappier and more powerful. Depending on sim software or ffb configs and profiles I constantly run a 270mm wheel at 80% and 90% in some cases (my weakest ffb profiles are 60%). If I get a 300 to 320mm round wheel for touring cars I'm afraid 100% ffb won't be enough for me. I'm not claiming to be superman but my arms didn't feel anything after pushing a kart for 30mins at Circuit of Portimão Kart track I was barely starting to warm up the arms. I'm hoping for a "Podium DD+" with at least 20 to 25 constant nm.
Do you think although they say the QR2 lite will do 15nm would it be worth it to upgrade to either QR2 or the Pro wheelside ? Just your opinion, I won't hold you to it 😁👍 I can't make my mind up between DD Extreme or the F1 which comes with the QR2
Ffanatec's customer "service" is without question, the absolute worst in the Sim Racing industry. Any company with top-tier products but bottom-tier after-sales support is still a bottom-tier company. Unfortunately, that is exactly what Fanatac has become. Don't do businesss with these pretenders!
the reason the QR2 can work with that wheel as opposed to others at full torque hjas nothing to do with the quickrelease itself being strong enough, but the wheel itself was reinforced in order to withstand the additional torque. id assume that if you tried that on other wheels the QR could snap the wheels
or its possible that because the back is flexible plastic that it takes some of the torque out and stress off the QR, which id hope thats not the case because thats just lost torque
For the price point, for the price point and for the price point... You can't justify a 300€ head for just a wheel as an "entry level". What am I currently racing on then?
In your opinion what is the better value? This bundle with plastic qr2 or f1 bundle with metal qr2 for the same price. Assuming you are buying into sim racing completely fresh with nothing except a pc and a PS5?
I'm currently on a CSL DD 5nm and I want to get a base to play GT7 on the PS5. The DD Pro is gonna be on sale for Black Friday but which would you recommend between the DD Pro and DD+? It has never crossed my mind that my current 5nm wasn't enough.
I thought you were going to do a complete Fanatec DD+ Review. I figured you were holding it back because of the shipping delay with the DD+ and would release it when they started shipping. Its kind of frustrating even more now that Fanatec has this go live 2 days after I can no longer cancel my initial DD+ order and get this extreme bundle. I still might order one anyway.
Imagine if you were those on Black Friday had pûrchase a system that has never arrive to this date and see this video telling them that what they've ordered will now be replace for some new gen stuff.... hummmmm..... Just imagine those peoples .... heheh
@@SteckerNicoYou know there is nothing wrong about going with Simagic? In fact I regularly see former fanatec owners going to Simagic exclusively based on their experience.
And me: I ordered the CS Formula V2.5x on Black Friday. Order got delayed, so I cancelled and received a discount voucher. Used the voucher to order DD+ with another wheel. Now I have cancelled that order: gone is the discount :-). I think my patience is an even bigger problem, than Fanatec's issues, though. (BTW: I spend 95% of my racing on GT7. So no other brands for me. I am really happy with Fanatec and I will remain loyal to them)
Can you do a comparison review between the DD+ and DD1 for PS5 please. I don’t want to make the mistake of selling my DD1 for the DD+ if its not worth doing so. Thank you.
The best advice is to order from the other companies. Not just hope that they have fixed their shipping issues lol 😂 why would anyone wanna spend big money and pray that the order comes lol
months without a response from customer service. should have stuck to my gut and went moza. if they wont hire a handful of contractors to get thru the backlog of unanswered tickets and emails, they dont deserve our business
I was going to say Fanatec is being dodgy again not offering the wheel at pre-order time, but to be honest I think they have saved a lot of people because that wheel is terrible value at $490au, and that would be if it had a metal QR2, it's even worse with a plastic QR2. I would love to see a Fanatec product meeting, my guess is it would be like watching an amateur comedy stand up night.
There are a lot of people now experiencing disconnects with the DD extreme wheel do you think the QR2 Lite could be the issue, especially as you noted 7 months ago 8nm was the limit but now 15nm is ! - could excessive movement be causing this ? Be great to have your thoughts, cheers.
Thanks for charing. I saw you have a BMW M4 GT3 wheel too. QUESTION : Why do I have to do the mapping in GT7 in the DD Pro section when it is a Podium wheel ? Or is the base leading in this? Next problem is when I go back to the new Extreme wheel I have to remap everything to standard. Is there a solution like saving settings for a certain wheel ? Appreciate your answer.
This wheel is definitely a worthy upgrade and a big improvement on the DD Pro wheel, but how did you know there was 10nm of force ? Like yourself I'm confused as to what was conveyed previously about the 8nm limit of the QR2 Lite, but I guess if the QR2 Lite isn't sufficient you could always upgrade to QR2 standard or Pro which i'm guessing what the idea is, otherwise if the QR2 Lite is sufficient up to 15nm then a lot of other people have wasted money on the standard and the Pro ! So this needs all confirming with more clarity from Fanatec. Also apparently Polyphony haven't yet made developments to accommodate ITM and FullForce so either they have a lot of work to do or we won't be able to fully utilise this wheel until GT8 is out ! Whenever that is, That would be a lot of money spent on a wheel you can't get the most out of, unless you play ACC as of course.
Question for you, I recently received my GT Extreme bundle and I am coming from the PS pro bundle. I have updated all the drivers base wheel hub and I can no longer manually shift correctly. The throttle freaks out, shifts are recognized, but it’s undrivable. Have you experienced this? Have you tried shifting manually with the fanatec shifter? I had no problems at all with the 8 nm motor base. I believe it might have something to do with the new wheel. I would really appreciate your input. Love your reviews. Keep up the great work. Playing GT7 on PlayStation
Will, if people really listen AND watch, then they have to admit that you made a great review. Why this: watch the flex in the QR, and especially the flex in the wheel. Listen to Will when he talks about the feeling he has on the choice of the QR. Pay attention to "small details" like the tolerance of the button light coming through top left. This is just my interpretation, I don't claim to know what Will's intention really is, sort of reading between the lines. But for me, the QR and the flex are absolutely no-gos. Regardless of the price, this is just crap. Another good example: the wrong data coming for AC. It's clearly a GT game wheel, but it's also a sign that they aren't capable of doing a proper software before shipping it to a important reviewer channel. My facit: Will said all one needs to understand, and especially showed everything important. Respect from my side!
Unfortunately, the answer is still a hard no. Mine arrived yesterday. Shipping was speedy, but quality isn't there. Out of the box, the OLED is DOA. While customer service was VERY snappy to update my address, and make sure it arrived, once the news was conveyed that it was DOA, dead silent. At $1299,. and a total of well over 2K to play a PS5 game, you'd think they'd solve these issues, but sadly, the answer is Fanatec still has both quality issues, and slow customer service issues. This was going to be my birthday gift, so imagine my sadness and disappointment at yet another broken f'ing toy. And if you don't have a PC, forget about drivers or support updates. The PS5 cannot do those.
Did you have any problems with the display not working at all before you updated the firmware? Just tried mine today for the first time, and its completely blank, so i cant adjust anything. I don't have a PC to update the firmware either. I hope thats just the problem and its not a faulty unit because i cant be bothered dealing with customer service
I’m new to sim racing and purchased this along with a NLR F-GT 160 rig. the wheelbase comes with t nut but no screws to attach it to the rig. what size screws should I get to side mount it to my rig?
Love the content but sometimes i feel you go too easy. Hopefully you ask the tough questions when you meet with Fanatec boss. Personally as a Fanatec user for many, many years I will never spend another cent with them again.
Hi will, mate I pre ordered the Dd+ back in October. My account said handed over to warehouse a week ago, my warranty has started, But I’ve had no movement since. Do you know any Australians that have the new base yet. Even the Aussie bloke that had his base sent early is still waiting in limbo. Can you get any answers for us mate!? Please!?
I’m not aware of any Australian deliveries yet. Doesn’t mean they haven’t happened. I just haven’t seen any. Warranty doesn’t start until it’s delivered despite what the website says.
@@boostedmedia But will Fanatec acknowledge that or does a customer have to fight a legal battle if it comes to a warranty claim? Why would they put it on their website in the first place?
Big props for prefacing the review with all the Fanatec "drama" instead of leaving that til the end. Respect!
Thanks. I’m glad at least one person noticed.

I have a wheel base and pedals, but no wheel.
i had a load cell go bad on me, wrote emails with them and had to provide video of what was wrong after they got the video proving the fault they stopped answering me all toghether, i just bought the logitech pro wheel and pedals, i will never buy fanatec again no matter how good the product is
Fanatec should start looking to sell the company while they are still worth something
I’m done.
Charge back through your credit card. That should get their attention.
Fair play to you mate, outlined the risks perfectly. Weeks for customer support is a bit generous, its months ( or never) for a response.
Make that indeed 2,5+ months already. At least initially I got a reply back around Nov 2023
I just purchased one and it was delivered to my home within 6 days including the weekend
As of Feb 9 2024, I still haven't received my Black Friday order from late November 2023! Everything I ordered was shown as in-stock at the time of order. Buyer beware!
I cancelled my dd1 order and went with simagic. Couldn't be happier.

I received mine in 1.5 days, well done Fanatec...really happy
A little cheap of them not to ship it with the QR2 standard. 15mm base? Needs a proper QR. Unless they're trying to save money
Thanks again Will! You just saved me 300$ lol answered all the questions I had about the bundled wheel great video as always!
Bravo for your transparency Will.
$1300 and still only a qr2 lite.
That says it all.
It's even better when you get the qr2 lite and it has more play and flex than the qr1.
@@rekt4guud134 That's simply a lie. qr2 lite is infinitely more stable than qr1
My QR1 lite has literally zero play.

The continued existence of a "Lite" version of their quick releases proves how greedy Fanatec is.
You just don't like it. Doesn't make it bad.

1300 euro and it has the plastic QR2. Fanatec are really starting to irritate at every turn these days.

@@pyroblaze13 New orders are getting to people before orders at/before Black Friday. Don't ask me how this is possible.

Why cant you go more than 5 nm? Also what do you think of it and the V2s? Ive got the t500 at the moment and i just ordered the same setup yesterday 8 hours before they released the extreme haha. fml@@RTR_RRoomes73

They probably will once the first wave of these sells out. Watch for it.
Using the extreme since 4 months now , mainly gt7 and acc on ps5.
This wheel is worth any penny for me ❤❤
Basic bad FANATEC experience: Black friday -> too long -> too shitty quality.
@@Haulinbassracing perhaps but the QR2 lite limit the torque from your wheel base…
@@yeah_okido that is not an officially supported use of their products so my point about Fanatec practices still stands…

I find it odd that they delayed shipment of the DD+ due to Sony approval and right when they get that approval this new wheel is released as a package. Makes me wonder if they did need the approval or they were waiting on approval for this wheel rim and wanted to hold off so people can cancel their current order and order this new package.
I think you're on to something there.

@@LorenzoFraustothank you! I will swap it asap with the standard qr2 I had on the DDpro wheel and sell that one along with the dd pro with the qr2 lite. i appreciate the info!
@@Snaggletooth68 you’re welcome bro. I just picked up a clubsport dd, wrc wheel with QR2.
It's nice and all. I have the first version of it, but since I bought the Formula V2.5, I've never used it again. I'm looking forward to a nice upgrade of Formular wheel, with a decent display, 300mm and more ergonomic.
If they make a 300mm with a 4.3 inch oled screen. I’d be ordering tomorrow
If you are on pc check out Leoxz XF1 that works with fanatec (it is only 275 mm but otherwise great wheel)
I ordered the Extreme package and V3 pedals today. Even paid an extra 120 for next day shipping. Lets see when I recieve the order.
That is an insane shipping charge , that aughta get their attention. Keep us posted .
Was naive to hope it would arrive this weekend? I just received an email with invoice advising the next email will ne when the items are shipped with tracking info.
It's arrived today. Never received shipping info on the website or other means it just arrived.
People are receiving their new orders yet still a lot of outstanding orders from November and before. Such a shame as everyone rates the products highly. Sadly I never got to try them. I gave up after 3 months of waiting for in stock products
at 1000$ isn't the La Prima bundle better (with wheel and wheelbase) ?
la prima is a better choice in terms of quality and what you actually getting for the money, the only reason i went with fanatec is because a lot of games are not supported on anything but fanatec logitech or trustmaster, even very recent games (the crew motorfest)
He reviews products from every company (as do many other creator's)
And he has nothing at all to do with the distribution of the products
Will review the products given to him, gives an honest review and that's all
People listen and either go with 1 if the company he does reviews on
He has (nor any other reviewer ) NOTHING to do with Dante's distribution of products
So don't be saying shit like "it was started by you" because your putting blame on someone who did nothing besides tell you how good or bad a product was
@@lordvolt7662 can you even read? I suggest you delete your comment.
I think you didn’t read it well. I said “stated” not “started”.
Yeah not gonna lie ey that ones on me
Fucken dyslexia getting me once again
Carry on lads
Buy Simagic Alpha for £850 and wheels are amazingly top quality like GTS rim and the new Neo rim 😘
Thanks for the thorough look ✌🏽
I like that they’ve upgraded the GT wheel to address basically every complaint I had with the original. I’ve wanted a 300mm round wheel for a while, but I guess I’ll have to wait for one to come up secondhand… $2140 is a lot of money to upgrade for just the wheel. 8nm is enough for me.
Simple modifications allow qr2 lite to function, no issues on all wheels in the eco system! We operate puplic sim stations for months, no issue!
That's true, but I'd still like to know why they say the QR2 is OK for 15NM on this wheel but not others. Makes no sense to me.
@@boostedmedia because they want old customers to pay for the more expensive version when upgrading their existing wheel to QR2 while selling the cheap crap on a new 1300€ product…
What are the modifications? :D
So the QR2 Lite is capable of the full 15Nm but they impose a limit on it purely to upsell the metal version. More shame on Fanatec.
Fanatec has minimal shipping issues in australia, I ordered a wheel, QR2 and handbrake on monday, it was delivered thursday
I would stay away from fanatec. The Logitech Pro wheel is a super nice wheel and great customer service if you ever need any.
Nice in-depth review! I ordered the GT DD X yesterday, and the QR2 Wheel-side just now. 😅 Yeah I saw it flexing.
Honestly seeing this i really wonder why you cant just get the 15nm on the qr2 lite, this just seems like fanatec really thinks their customers are all idiots, oh no you cant use high torque mode with the qr2 lite unless you buy the super special dd extreme wheel and only then it wont break
They need to worry about filling orders and their customer support
Nah they worry too much about making that money.
Just your opinion, I won't hold you to it 😁👍
I can't make my mind up between DD Extreme or the F1 which comes with the QR2
Ffanatec's customer "service" is without question, the absolute worst in the Sim Racing industry. Any company with top-tier products but bottom-tier after-sales support is still a bottom-tier company. Unfortunately, that is exactly what Fanatac has become. Don't do businesss with these pretenders!
fantastic review as usual 👍👍👍
the reason the QR2 can work with that wheel as opposed to others at full torque hjas nothing to do with the quickrelease itself being strong enough, but the wheel itself was reinforced in order to withstand the additional torque. id assume that if you tried that on other wheels the QR could snap the wheels
or its possible that because the back is flexible plastic that it takes some of the torque out and stress off the QR, which id hope thats not the case because thats just lost torque
...sure
For the price point, for the price point and for the price point... You can't justify a 300€ head for just a wheel as an "entry level". What am I currently racing on then?
Is it me or is moza giving better qualitie product at a lower price 🤔
That's what I'm starting to think too
In your opinion what is the better value? This bundle with plastic qr2 or f1 bundle with metal qr2 for the same price. Assuming you are buying into sim racing completely fresh with nothing except a pc and a PS5?
Here because of your post on YT. Wanted to say I appreciate your review and honesty with all your posts across all media. Thank you Will :)
I'm currently on a CSL DD 5nm and I want to get a base to play GT7 on the PS5. The DD Pro is gonna be on sale for Black Friday but which would you recommend between the DD Pro and DD+? It has never crossed my mind that my current 5nm wasn't enough.
It's embarrassing that they only include a plastic quick release on a 15nm wheel.
Just imagine those peoples .... heheh
People is me, my packages will come soon and I’m thinking about switching to the extreme version
Thanks!
Of course this comes out just a month after I bought my first SIM rig....the Fanatec GT DD Pro
Still have not shipped even though I got an email 4 days ago saying it’s coming the wear house is literally 10 minutes away from me go figure
Buy Simagic Alpha for £850 and wheels are amazingly top quality like GTS rim and the new Neo rim 😘
Hi Will, thanks for your video. Great work as always. Can you share your settings for GT7?
