Band Maid is: MIKU (mee-koo) Rhythm guitar and backing vocals. She is the band’s founder, writes the lyrics and is the band’s main spokesperson. She is called “the little Pigeon”. SAIKI (sigh-kee) Lead vocals and front man. “The Ice Queen”. (She’s also the team mom). KANAMI (kah-nah-mee) Lead guitar. A classically trained musician, she composes and arranges all the music. “Mincho” MISA (mee-sah) Bass. The band’s secret weapon. Most bassists don’t stand out. “The Barefoot Assassin” does. AKANE (ah-kah-neh) The smiling drummer is “The Gorilla” and she is the other half of one of the best rhythm sections anywhere.
@davem1255 Sorry it was a turn of phrase to describe her guitar playing. She actually sings like a nightingale which you can hear on her acoustic duet with Saiki on "Puzzle". th-cam.com/video/ayJtzPkgZTc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YRl1CwpWZQYlgsch
There are so many hard rock masterpieces in their library. Two songs that will knock you flat are Honkai (live) th-cam.com/video/7iZj1_GOlc0/w-d-xo.html and Why why why (live) th-cam.com/video/8QGEV9y438k/w-d-xo.html Just make sure your seat belts are fastened.
I saw them perform this live at St Andrews Hall in Detroit back in May 2023. It was their last club date before playing two outdoor festivals, Sonic Temple in Columbus and PointFest in St. Louis. The pulled out all the stops in Detroit and it was their longest set list on that leg of the US tour. If there are any doubters out there who don't think that Band-Maid can play this live, let it be known that Band-Maid only uses backing tracks as just that: a backing track with keyboards, backing vocals, and flourishes that would require them to tour with extra musicians. All the lead parts are performed live. Misa and Akane are perfectionists and you rarely see them miss a beat. I've seen Misa get the giggles when Saiki bumps into her, but she doesn't miss a note. It's a running gag for the members to troll Akane to see if they can distract her. Kanami plays her PRS Custom 25-08 like a racing driver on the edge and you can tell she is constantly at the limit. Watch Kanami's solos in "Zen" - she is playing faster than ever. Miku knows her parts and she is doing far more than many think she is.
I often feel that Miku doesn't get enough praise so thank you etoineschdlu9382 for promoting our little pigeon! Her rhythm roles and harmonies are stunning (just like her beauty🥰🕊).

Many of us saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. The DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as their awesome, sold out 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR wrapped up at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26 and at Hong Kong. AND they dropped their new album, Epic Narratives, Sept. 25. Order now! The Maids are one of the hardest working supergroups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE! Thx, Dave!
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this song performed live five times with this MV quality in Japan and dropped my jaw five times at the venues 😲. This song has been normally played in the middle of the setlist to give Saiki, lead vocalist, some break. They played this song, however, as opening at festivals and in Guns N' Roses concert in Japan as support to the legendary band. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who knew nothing about the girls in maid outfit on the stage. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄

If you want a true LIVE BANGER, check out Band-Maid Official LIVE "HATE?" Ohhhhh Buddy! Here ya go Dave, your Official Unofficial members cheat sheet. Band-Maid Is: *Akane Hirose (Ah-kah-nee or Ah-kah-nay) -Drums, Nickname: “Ah-chan” and "Gorilla" because she eats lots of bananas for her stamina and is a BEAST on drums. Lost her "little hat" back in 2018....a sad day indeed....you'll find out the more you get into them.. *MISA (Mee-sah) - Bass Guitar, Nickname: "The Barefoot Assassin" MISA always performs barefoot as she states she likes to feel Akane’s kick drum through her feet, and "kills" and just murders that bass. *Kanami Tono (Kah-nah-mee) - Lead Guitar/Genius Songwriter Nickname: "Mincho" “Kanamincho” ……Miku’s guitar Sensei. Kanami is the driving force behind Band-Maid as she challenges the girls to be the best and pull out their God given talent they never knew they had in them. *Miku Kobato (Mee-koo) - Band-Maid Spokesperson/Rhythm Guitar/Lyricist/Founder/Backing Vocals/Lead Vocals…hardest working girl in music. Nickname: "Little Pigeon" (Miku’s surname means “Little Pigeon”) ....po! Getting caught up in Band-Maid means going down the “Pigeon Hole”…….. no rabbits here. Miku is a former Maid-Cafe employee and Japanese Idol. *Saiki Atsumi (Sy-kee) -Lead Vocals Nickname: "The Princess" “Si-chan”. I call Saiki "The Princess" but Miku is The Queen….. Saiki is Kanami’s “crush”......and Saiki just keeps getting prettier as the years move on. As a whole, Band-Maid are actually hilarious girls both on and off stage in their personal life and adore each other and their fans, as they call them "Masters and Princesses" and Miku's Omajinai Time (Magic Spell Time/intermission) at LIVE shows is FUN!

The best rock band ever. Kanami Tono in my opinion is the best rock composer/arranger ever, also pretty good at guitar 😂 Onset live is also another awesome instrumental.
Akane is pronounced ah-kah-ney or close to it with no stress on any one syllable. The Japanese alphabet consists of vowels and consonant-vowel combinations and just "n" by itself. So you would pronounce each vowel. Don't worry, you're not the first to mispronounce her name and you won't be the last.
A good explanation of the main parts of the Japanese alphabet! I can add that the vowels "a, i, u, e, o" can stand alone as a syllable in a word and are then pronounced as separate vowels.
Great info kurt! I feel an urge to learn Japanese to better understand their conversation and lyrics. It probably won't happen but anything that gets me closer to these fantastic ladies increases my joy that is already at a 10/10!
