This is the first song Band-Maid wrote that the record company let them record . They are still together and more popular than ever ! I saw them in the US four times including AFTERSHOCK in 2022 and Rockville in the Daytona Speedway in 2023 . They also played Lollapalooza ! Heavier songs HATE? Official Live and "From Now On" MV are a great place to start =) These ladies live shows are awesome ! Thanks EZ /New Sub =)

@@EZCIN "from now on" is an epic instrumental which may open for you another side of BAND-MAID. I sincerely recommend that one as well.
Although usually "HATE?" live is what blows all reactors out of their socks. BAND-MAID develops with the times, and as the world gets crazier and crazier, they ride on top of the wave.

Congratulations on finding one of the best bands on the planet. Band-Maid is incredible and really shine during their live shows which they call Okyuji (servings) in keeping with their maid cafe theme. They consider themselves a hard rock band. I would suggest that you check out their latest live videos from Yokohama Arena. Hate and Don't You Tell ME are bangers with guitar & bass duels, and Endless Story is a tear jerker ballad. I assure you that your mind will be blown considering your "rock is dead" mindset.

@@EZCIN BAND-MAID is indeed considered by many to be the Saviours of Rock. Although it's a confusing exercise to try to define their genre. They are everything. As one reactor said, "BAND-MAID doing BAND-MAID things."
Their album Unseen World which was released during COVID, is the heaviest specimen of progressive metal, I would say. And it's still probably my favourite. Although their recent releases, i.e., Unleash EP and Epic Narratives album from September of last year are very interesting also. Unseen World was just such a revolutionary piece, I think it will definitely be mentioned in the future as a hallmark of the music development in the first quarter of the 21st century.
You may check the song HONKAI from that album, live version. With the bass/drum mind-blowing intro, it now attracts a lot of attention from many reactors.

Are they still relevant? Guitarist Kanami just became the first Japanese artist ever awarded a signature PRS guitar, personally handed over to her by Paul Reed Smith himself. Their last two albums hit #8 and #2 on the iTunes worldwide album chart. They were at multiple US festivals in 2023 (like Lollapalooza) and have worked with western artists like Mike Eizinger from Incubus and Tony Visconti (who produced Bowie for 30 years).
Their latest release, Zen, came out less than a day ago if you'd like to jump on the reaction wave going around TH-cam. Though I feel I already know what you're going to say: "Busy, energetic, anime, J-Rock".

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed!
Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal).

This is how BAND-MAID sounded nine years ago. Each new album brought an evolution in their sound. You have about 130 more songs to explore. They are first and foremost all about the live performances. HATE? from the last show of their year-long 10th Anniversary tour (November 2023) at Yokohama Arena will show you a different side of their music. But my go to is DOMINATION, 14th February 2020, in Tokyo.

Yeah, they have a few pop-punk/post-punk songs like this out of their 130 album cuts, and you'll hear that influence in a lot of their songs, but many of their songs are, in fact, classic rock sounding, or other genres. Many genres, in fact, mashed together in such a way that we often say that the genre of Band-Maid is Band-Maid. I think if you listen to more of them, you're going to love them.
Try their LIVE version of Domination... yeah, important to know, they tend to sound better live than on the studio cuts.

Band- Maiid has been active since 2013 and are still going strong...they have a worldwide fan base called "Maidiacs" and two have gotten Signature guitars and the same can be said for their bass player MISA! "Alone" was their first song they wrote , arranged, and produced as a group...prior to this song their management company provided songs written for the group. They just released a new song this weekend called "Zen" which is the opening song for the new anime from MAPPA named "Zenshu" I highly recommend you listen to any or all of these; Domination (live), Play (live), Manners (MV or live), Black Hole (live), From now on (instrumental) or any of their 140+ songs from their discography...Thanks for the reaction...Peace & Respect from Canada

      @VladimirChupin 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

Well, yes, "alone" is definitely on their mellower side of things. It's catchy and melodic, and yes, many people noticed that it was the world of Emo back then (still to a degree), and BAND-MAID were just young girls in their early 20s, still searching for their own sound. It took them four or five years from that moment to turn from graduate students to the world's leading musical force they are now.

Welcome, E.Z. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 220 million YT views, plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:

BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (144 songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom.
Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular!
Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 80 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: th-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/w-d-xo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Hate?, Shambles, Influencer, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, You, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on.
But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, The One, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Protect You, Sense, Different, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): th-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/w-d-xo.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. th-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts:

If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, live streams, CD, DVD/BD & merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

    Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 33 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 33 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 34 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 32 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA!
Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans.
    [BAND-MAID NEWS]
 BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have included the Acoustic Christmas 2021, ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts! Fans can now see more than 50 great live performances with awesome audio, etc. like Fate, I Can't Live Without You and the great MISA / Kanami exchange in Don't You Tell Me. Those concerts are two of the best produced & performed concerts ever recorded, IMO. bandmaidprime.tokyo
 The Maids SOLD OUT 2023 US & Mexico tour wrapped up and was a fantastic success. And so many great live fancams to watch! In a nutshell, the band's maid concept was determined by Band-Maid's founder, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and chief lyricist Miku Kobato who had worked in Japan's maid cafes while taking singing lessons and thought one day that dressing as maids while performing "cool music" before an audience was an idea that could work. She contacted a small music company who agreed to let her form a band using the maid concept. In order to form a band from scratch, Kobato selected via online audition Kanami Tono as lead guitarist and composer. Kanami accepted the maid concept offer as she had performed in maid costume while playing some gigs at school music events. In turn, Kanami asked a drummer friend of hers, Akane Hirose, who she had worked with previously, to join their band, and she accepted the role being OK with the maid outfit. Needing a bassist, Akane then asked the bassist Misa to join the band as she had gone to the same music school with her. Since Misa's band had recently disbanded, Misa agreed to join the group but was not wild about the maid dress. After a few live performances, Miku realized her voice was not quite suitable for lead vocalist, so Saiki Atsumi auditioned for the role and was selected as the band's primary lead vocalist. Saiki didn't know about the maid costume until the last minute but grudgingly joined and quickly tossed aside the maid apron. Later, bassist Misa changed her costume to all black which is referred to as the maid assassin look and Saiki's garb evolved into the currant Queen of Maids dress.

And a thing about the maid outfits, EZ: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids.
Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

I think you should listen to Babymetal !! I think their biggest song is gimmie chocolate but my absolute favorites are megitsune, doki doki morning, and catch me if you can !! They make songs in tons of different genres of metal and I think it would be fun to study each one !! (Ex: monochrome is very slow, metalzim bxmxc are very electronic, some are rap mixed with metal like Iine! And bxmxc, and others are very fun fast metal. Idk how to describe it but I always think there’s at least one song for everyone lol)

I think you might have made a mistake to judge one of the most versatile bands right now by listening to the first of their own songs they were allowed to record. They do hard rock, metal, grunge, acoustics, punk, pop, emo and sometimes everything at once. Try "Hate!" live for some real arena rock, or the MV "From Now on" for an instrumental, or the MV "Influencer" for one of their many songs that are hard to classify.

Among Maidiacs, it's a cardinal sin to skip/pause during a Kanami solo. Don't do it again.

I got flagged 😢 I’m surprised it hasn’t been taken down . I had to chop up the song to try and get the song posted.

@@thelmamatic5004 Ah, you never know how TH-cam algorithm will react.
The one thing which could be definitely removed is the background music in the pauses. It really makes my brain swirl 😂🙈
