Around April 1982 or so... the earliest that we know of is April 22, 1982, though he may have done it earlier.

​@@graigmellon7874 April, I think around the March 1982 tapings was when the pen closing line began but it wasn't until about April 1995 when the pen closing line became a daily thing.

@@IvoryM1986 But even so there were still times (albeit rarely) that Bob didn't say the spay neuter speech from 1995-2007 (in part because a contestant said the line). I think also around the time Bob began his spay neuter speech, the fur coats were dropped from the show.
