The transfer ports on the lay down engines are huge. There isn't a lot you can do to improve them. I used to race an F6. You can raise the compression but you need good fuel then.
@minnowlaketuning I have seen quite a few of the Black Widow and the Black one you have over here in Sweden, they are starting to become expensive nowdays...
@@minnowlaketuning Most of the older sleds are getting pricey over here, the REV 600 Pro for example,i regret i sold mine beacuse it would be worth double now compared what i paid for it back in 2013...
Had a 2003 wish I kept it. A freak of a straight line sled! Not the best trail sled but very fast. I radar ran mine in 2000ft and would do 128-130mph with a speed track on ice.
For clutching...research the ODS kit for the f7...they were the consensus best pick back when the firecats were current. The kit isn't available anymore, but you should be able to cobble together the pieces...iirc it was worth about 3 sled lengths to 60 mph. Inline fuel restrictor will help as well.
Yup most of what I read seemed to like that kit. I have rhw primary spring that just want to use and I think I know what helix. Not sure on the weights yet
That's what is sick I had a couple of them never should have sold them F7 is like 150 horsepower don't need any clutching advise that three-stage clutch from the factory Works awesome don't call me unless but if I remember right that thing does like from 15mph- 90mph in 2 seconds so if that thing is wrong if it's there's a rolling start involved nothing can touch that thing and barely weighs 400 lb first fuel injected sled I ever owned. I love short track race sleds that thing on Hill Climb like a 250 dirt bike it just cranks I think I ran an inch and a half paddle and full studs
I had a red 2004 F7 I can get 107 miles an hour on hardback on radar. Police radar actually lol it was not a good day. 😅. Actually it wasn’t that bad. They didn’t give me a fine or nothing just a slap on the wrist both wrists lol
Black widow i see them all the time here in upstate NY but idk about that original. Iv owned 2 new F7 snow sno pro’s 03 and 04. Everyone says that the 03 is the best my experience i loved my 04. Handled better rode better idk if it was as fast but definitely more consistent. Also bought 06 F6 from D&D with there 800 kit. Twin pipes it was quick but never got it right. Top end sucked my stock F7’s were lot faster. Use to ride Polaris in the 90’s my last one my 2000 800 rmk. After I bought my cats iv been cat guy ever since. Raced cats pro XC and SX for 17 years in the NE. Many wins and championships had to retire in 2018 had surgery that was the end. Anyway i loved the stock clutching on my 04 maybe add a little weight. I run the Speedwerx 122-310 rate spring in almost all my cats except my turbos sleds. Iv been running that rate spring for 34 years. Same as the old Polaris blue spring i ran it my indy’s. For racing i might run a little stiffer spring for higher engagement but for trail i swear by the 120-310 rate. Sometimes i might add a shim between the spring and clutch cover if i want a little higher engagement. Thats what i love about that spring rate i can fine tune it if i have to. Great find the black widow is one of the coolest looking sleds ever my opinion anyway lol!!
Nice lookin night fire. I always liked these sleds. Would you think of changing the gearing to help out with the top speed? I did a gear change on my rev. I feel it helped. Its not so quick to pull the front up, but who knows.
Apparently factory gearing is good for about 115 116 mph, I may end up switching to 10 tooth drivers in which case I'll have to re gear, well see what happens lol
Firecats are known to leak oil from this area, especially after sitting all summer in storage. The check valves for the oil injection leak oil into air box. Loosening the oil reservoir cap before storage seems to help. Nice sled by the way. I have an 03 red team addition. Love em
@minnowlaketuning no, mount shasta area. I meant he had the same sled. Never did figure out what it was until your video. There is no chance it's the same snowmobile, that'd just be crazy.
Around here almost everyone says deck cals but I've heard people say dee cals. I think dee cals is the proper way but everyone I know says deck kals lol
I have a brand new Lynx xterrain but I always every year search for this snowmobile… it’s either overpriced by a million dollars, horrible condition, or too far away… best looking snowmobile ever made. Only one that’s close is the Red Joker version of this…
Much respected snowmobile. The 700 that made grown men cry at the end of the finish line…
Lmao I just sold a 01 zr800 that ate f7s they're not even that fast they're just light weight
@@sixty-nine69 are you sure the F7 was running on both cylinders??🤦♂️😂

I have never seen one. Keep up the great work man!!
Sweet sled.
I'm working on a 05 F7 right now.
You'll love that sled! I regret selling my nightfire!. I've always had firecats. I have an 03 f5 03.5f6 and 03 f7 right now. Best sleds!
Got an 03 f5 here too. Love that sled
I love my 05 F7r. I've had it up to 112 mph on the lake. That Nightfire is really nice. Good score.
112 thats rocking
Good stuff. Keep us posted
I've owned every brand Yamaha ski Doo Polaris and artic cat nothing performs like a cat
I am going to LOVE this series!!!
Is there one called Black Widow Edition also?
Yup, that was in 05, had a spider web on the hood and in the writing on the seat

@tonymontana2.037 dam they are getting expensive everywhere. Getting hard to find and expensive here too

Not the kind of the stuff we ride in ak but that’s what makes it unique! Where getting snow as I’m watching 2 days non stop
No snow here yet unfortunately. Yeah sometimes I look at sleds out west for sale to see all the old mountain sleds,.cool stuff

Beautiful sled!!! I just picked up a 03 with low mileage and wanted everything to be original as well
He'll yeah those 03s are awesome
That is NICE!!
Thanks brotha
Firecats are one of the best looking sleds Cat made. That and the early 2000's Green ZR Cross Country editions.
Always liked those cross country zrs
I have an 06 cross fire snow pro 700 and can't wait for snow got it last year and only put twenty minutes of ride time do to lack of snow
I used ti have a 06 crossfire 700, loved that sled
It’s missing the center crest decal. I have this sled also! I’m very excited I found it!

I've seena. Few but definitely not alot around here
I bought an 06 in the spring and can't wait to rip it!!!! Not Nightfire. I'm an orange fan so got a Sno Pro.
He'll ya, hope you enjoy er, the 06 tony Stewart edition was a cool one
I just bought the sled I’ve been looking for, a 05 f7 joker sno pro!
Hell ya, those are hard to come by
that thing is sweet!!
Nice video I have 2005 F7 sno pro
Hell yeah
Hey bro, just subscribed to your channel and congrats on the F7. I just bought one myself! Wondering if you have the mbrp sold?
I don't but I was going to list it soon
Ok can I contact you directly somehow? I’m interested.
