Dear Tex, my kids and, i have recently gotten into playing Battletech table top, my daughter has chosen to call her charger "Florida Man." She stripped off 3 of the small lasers for more armor so she can close and beat things to death with the murder mitten.

Same thing happened to me, once. Only difference was that I'd rented the CGR-SB variant, so I definitely did not make it before the end of the business day. On the upside, the forensics team couldn't actually prove that I'd vaporized the doors on the storage hangar, so I didn't get charged a late fee.
Fun Fact: Thanks to the pacing of the animation, the frame preview that pops up on when you mouse over the time remaining bar always shows them in the exact same position despite the background changing.

This is just full of WIN! The running Charger, the Urban mech Cop in pursuit using a pair of tanks is roller blades and a bitching sound track. I need an hour long version of this.
The boys and I were running a custom mech derby last week in which the two of them ran crazy optimized Clan mechs, one of which was effectively a Catapult IIC rocking iATM12s and the other a Goshawk with dual AES-mounted CLPLs and a shield. I, on the other hand, was rocking up to the board with a Charger with a light fusion engine and 29 rocket launcher 10s. Turns out, neither of them considered me a threat until the zone had closed in, and after trying and failing to style on me, the Catapult IIC got to see quite what happens when an an arrogant man gets locked in a tiny room with an angry gorilla carrying a shotgun.
Imagine playing mechwarrior and being able to swap to see this instead of night vision or ir. Just a click of a button to turn the world into a retro wave throwback. I'd pay good money for that because I love this!

You know what I did after it was over? _I_ _hit_ _replay_ .

I know it’s silly to compare MWO to the more grounded in universe stories, but you can build some nasty charger builds. Tons of medium pulse lasers on a fast assault mech, srm shotgun, etc
Remember, Van Zandt isn't perfect but, the Charger rentals are a plus.

There was a game that had the rollerskate thing as a mechanic: Heavy Gear. All the mechs had wheels on the feetsies for a secondary movement type.
