Mel Gibson Accounts for his Drunken Anti-Semitic Tirade (Part 1 of 2)

  • On July 28, 2006 at 3:10 a.m. famed celebrity actor Mel Gibson was pulled over for speeding along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California. Gibson was traveling at 80 miles per hour, 35 miles per hour over the legal speed limit. The police gave Gibson an alcohol breath test and a field sobriety test. They discovered that his blood alcohol level was .12, far exceeding the state's legal limit. Deputy James Mee, one of the responding officers, claimed that Gibson was irate, saying "My life is f****d." The deputy then instructed Gibson that he would not use his cuffs if Gibson would cooperate. Gibson responded: "I'm not going to get in your car" and proceeded to make a mad dash toward his own car. The officers subdued Gibson, cuffed him, and placed him in the back of the police car. Gibson became even more irate and issued a series of inflammatory comments to the police. He is reported to have told the officers: "F*****g Jews. The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Gibson then asked one of the officers, "Are you a Jew?" He then said to Deputy Mee, "I own Malibu" and "I will spend all of my money to get even with you." A female sergeant approached Gibson and he said to her: "What do you think you're looking at sugar tits?" Gibson was booked into the Lost Hills Sheriff's station at 4:06 a.m. He spent a few hours in lockup before being released on $5,000 bail at 9:45 a.m. After Gibson's release, Deputy Mee claimed that his superiors in the police department asked him to submit a sanitized version of the report-one that omits the more inflammatory comments-because they felt that it would "incite Jewish hatred." In the following interview with Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America, Gibson grapples with the reasons he utilized such incendiary language in discussing the Jewish community.

I'm a drunk myself and I can't imagine being put on the spotlight like he was, having to explain himself to some media broad and having millions of people sitting in judgement on him. I really feel for him. When he says, " you will sacrifice anything" just to get that drink, that put's the reality of addiction into it's purest perspective. To anybody that judges him, keep that in mind.

@@pabloherrera7210 Broad literally just means "woman". It's a common term that New Yorkers use and it's not derogatory. And in fact, in the 1940s it was more of a compliment than anything, meaning a strong and independent woman.

Actually, it's been revealed that Diane Sawyer has had substance issues herself.
There's a video of her on here where she's drinking wine and popping either a pain pill/or anxiety pill literally minutes before going on air.
So she's the last one to be judging others and questioning others about their substance abuse issues.
This country is in the midst of an opioid epidemic. And the reason the majority never get help or end up relapsing is because judgemental people never let them forget their mistakes.

He is a public figure who made racist remarks towards Jewish people while drunk. His movie Passion of Christ was controversial there were speculations of him being an anti-semite. He said what he meant under the influence. It was a silly move considering how many influential people in Hollywood are Jewish. After Michael Richards’s racist rant his career was over so is Mel’s. He apologized when he was sober which means he regretted that he spoke what was on his mind while drunk.

He is amazingly talented and his flaws only prove that he is human.
With out these flaws perhaps he would not have such a depth or range to be able to work from.
His audience benefits from his flaws regardless of how we feel about what he may have said or done.

My pop's fraternal twin brother, my Uncle Harry, was an alcoholic most of his adult life. He was a functioning one much of the time. He was married, responsible, helped raise 2 kids (my 2 cousins, who are identical twin sisters), and held down a job. When he wasn't working on weekends, which he'd do once in a while, he was kicking back during the day in his easy chair getting his drink on with beer and mad shots of Jim Beam. He would do it for a certain amount of hours and then put a cap on it once he was pretty knunked up😐

IN VINO VERITAS
when it comes to his anti jewish statements. what else is he supposed to do? of course he has to apologize. that is not something to be proud of. that stuff was on tape. he had no other choice.

I've said and done some really stupid things drunk. No, it isn't an indication about what you really feel. I've gotten in extreme arguments with friends, only for the next day for us to realize we didn't care at all about what we were arguing about. The guy was drunk. It alters your perception of the world. We don't ask people on acid, why they thought they were superman the next day. Perhaps they are covert narcissist? Or perhaps they were in an altered state of mind.

I think Mel Gibson is great, I've read alot about him, reading between the lines he was brain washed by his dad as a kid, about Jewish people, drink does make you a different person, that is why I have not had a drink for 12 years

Always hated Diane sawyer, she’s a grade A bigot herself, she puts people on the spot by asking very insinuating questions while looking at her subject as if they aren’t human. She makes a career out of dramatizing an event in a celebrities life to an extent that makes it sound much worse than it probably was. Embarrassing her subjects further than they already feel. I’m not so sure why any actor or celebrity would want an interview with her as most of them end up regretting it and don’t want anything to do with her

He said in this interview that he was ashamed about the police thing. So why is he doing this mea culpa interview? His PR people said that it he needed to do it...why did he agree to this? It's the most awkward interview I have ever seen.

From one human to another, we all need forgiveness and we all do things in life that we wish we didn't. Mel Gibson has done great things through his faith and has always said he is a work in progress....we all are. I don't like how he is being made to feel in front of the world.

This is the biggest question that drives me crazy, if Suunto found the edge and they were throwing up nuclear bombs to try to figure out how high the Dome went? Then why is it that high-altitude balloons show a huge disc and why would Admiral Byrd who was the first one to explain this to everyone lie and say that he found more land if there's this barrier his exact words were from flying from Little America he found another piece of land size of the United States. So for all you freaking idiots out there maybe there is some type of top shelf that we don't understand completely what to say that there is a side wall just eats everything that our whole perspective is based on and that is Admiral Byrd. She said there was more land and I believe him call me or anyone who doesn't believe him is only being silly considering we are basing this on all of his records.

Mel Gibson has bipolar disease. This is no small thing. People who are "manic-depressive" have little or no control over behavior that "normal" people find abhorrent. People who pass judgement on anyone who loses control usually look at those episodes as a moral failing. I fully sympathize with Mel, as I know several people who are bipolar. They suffer terribly through life and they deserve our understanding, not our condemnation.
