Mel's talent behind the screen, and in front of it, is undeniable. Matched by very few in the entertainment industry. This was great to watch. Mel is my favorite actor of all time.
Mel Gibson in the movie Gallipoli back in 1981, I was 11 years old and this movie rocked my world. I have always admired his talent and he has some outstanding work over the years. Amazing man.
Still remember driving up Glen Nevis in '94 to go hillwalking and being stopped by his crew while they were filming a scene. We could see they were filming two people on horseback conversing. They were just along from a complete medieval village and fort built by the Water of Nevis, amazing to see!
Same here, hillwalking in the area. Except it was just after filming and it was ok to walk around the designed village. The realism of the fibreglass type moulded cottage walls was incredible. A nice touch was a prop wild boar with a spear in it lying on one of the thatched roofs.
It's great he does these things, and it's not like he needs the money; a lot of people don't know that at one point, he got close to a billion but lost half of it through a divorce. He tends to do smaller films or directs these days, but it is a shame we never got him back for Mad Max, even though Tom did a great job.
The inimitable Mel Gibson, love him!! He's an extraordinary actor, producer and director. So many unbelievable movies; I cannot watch the death scene in brave heart, watched it one time and watched film again up to that point only because I'd cry...silly I know, but his movies are so real. The Passion of the Christ...stunning movie!
WOW. Great video, and good to see the process behind these events. Really interesting. I love Mel Gibson. Not just because Im Scottish, but Lethal Weapon, Martin Riggs. All his films...from Forever Young to his Galipoli ... amazing. What a character. I feel as thought I know him. Obviously I dont. It was surprisingly emotional watching this - Braveheart - the images - the story - the cinematic impact was one of the biggest I remember but the cultural ripple as a result - straight out into the world of Pop Culture. The phrase 'Freedom' - is sitll heard today probably just as it was 1995. It was a wonderful soundtrack too. In the world of legends - he is that. Long live Mel and look forward to leathal Weapon 5.
Honestly I had to pause this as soon as Mel came onto the camera as I automatically thought he looked the spitting image of my father. My dad had always said before he passed away that some people had mentioned to him he looked like Mel Gibson, but I just thought it was the cancer meds screwing with his brain. Now I can see the resemblance. Gave me goosebumps as to how similar they are.
As a Scotsman I feel sorry for him being fawned over like that. It must have really got on his nerves. It looks like it was hard work. One of the few authentic characters in that business that I'm aware of, and an interesting guy in general. So was his father. The remake of 2010's 'Edge of Darkness' was something special.
Interesting the White Rabbit Mel brought with him... I wonder whether during this event there was any mention of what this really means? In the part we didn't see? Something he is so passionate about exposing...
You can’t blame Mel or a film for a small minded minority of Scot’s to hate on the English, that was already in them and the film just gave them an excuse!
The movie was about Scottish history, Some of it not accurate but history non the less. Parts of history were ugly but we cant change it. I'm Scottish and he stirred up no hatred in me. I like English people, some of the best people in the world.
I think he means classless and tacky . I'm guessing its part of his obligation to do these and he's aware he's going to be doing this before hand. Who knows maybe he gets a percentage . It would be cheap if they just started recording him and then said "hey Mel could you do us a big favour and sign your name 500 times on all these pictures?".. I've been to lots of celebrity meet and greets obviously nobody of Mel Gibsons star power but even C list celebrities refuse to sign stuff for fans because usually during an intermission in the talk they'll try and charge fans a stupid amount for a signature
Hi Mel any chance of a small part in one of your films if Tam the milkman (Sean Connery )can do it I can do it I am a retired electrician from Edinburgh Scotland I am not an actor and no am not mad just retired my favourite film was not Braveheart it was the Lethal weapons films you and Danny some good one liners I hate horror films just a bit of action with some good one liners thrown in Cheers
You can't buy that kind of intimacy... ??? Err you can... they all did!! 😂 Mel is an admirable movie actor/director.. but this celebrity obsession and the grovelling is repugnant.
I answered another person on this. So what? I believe Ireland offers more financially beneficial terms for many films. Would have been much nicer for it all to be filmed in Scotland since it was a film about Scotland. But what is your point?
It's funny how most Scottish folk think that Braveheart (Wallace) is factual. It's mainly fiction. Sorry Scotland you loose again. 😂😂😂 And to rub salt in the wounds even more they filmed most of it in Ireland 🇮🇪 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I take it that you are from that place south of the border..and not down Mexico way? The basics of the film were factual, but embellished ...And to rub salt in the wounds, due to probably UK tax arrangements, Ireland often won out on getting many films to use it as a location....You come across as a pretty childish person wherever you are from...
If your walking around screaming EXCUSE ME like a knob head then yeah, folk won't gaf. Already shite two minutes in. Plus brave heart is the worst interpretation of William Wallace, ace film but non factual.
Mel's talent behind the screen, and in front of it, is undeniable. Matched by very few in the entertainment industry. This was great to watch. Mel is my favorite actor of all time.
My favorite actor too!
He's racist against British people and is an antisemite too
Grew up watching Mad Max’s …lethal weapons and then along came braveheart. 💪🏻🏴
Braveheart is my favourite film! This guy will always be a legend to me
Braveheart is for me the best and most epic film ever made, Gladiator is a close second. I've seen this movie probaly 50 times by now.
Mel Gibson a legend. I'm a huge fan from Ireland. It's always fantastic that parts of the movie "Braveheart" was filmed in Ireland.

Let's have a mad max with Mel please 🙏
Mel looking pretty cool
It would've been great to hear more Scottish accents but enjoyable just the same.

He almost had an event here in Melbourne Australia...the real Mad Max back where it started - unfortunately cancelled due to the Pandemic.
WEF plan demic
He is very tolerant
apart from the jews 🤣
Love that man😊😊😊
That's a crazy signature.
May I ask what it cost to attend this event? I hope it was worth Mel's time.
Really down to Earth Guy!
Would like Mel to take on a Brian Boru project
❤I LOVE MR. MEL. (NOT THE ONLY LOVER OF MEL❤)YOUR INTRODUCTION WAS SPOT ON❤
Thankyou!

Not all true facts..but one of the best films and soundtracks ever
What an awesome bloke. We’re are great blokes like that now, all trans
I was slightly concerned when he took that bottle of wine 😂
Mel is the same age as me but looks old enough to be my dad.
What a guy!!
Fantastic but where are the Scots 🏴
Interesting the White Rabbit Mel brought with him... I wonder whether during this event there was any mention of what this really means? In the part we didn't see? Something he is so passionate about exposing...
You helped to stir up hatred well done mel

To be fair there's English people who hate Scots so I works both ways.
I see it all the time on SM.
Didnt even give him his flowers
You like him or hate him. Both are fine. But you admit that he is abnormal and not ordinary at all, which is why I love him.
Catherine mc cormick if spelling was absolutely beautiful sorry I got spelling wrong my bad
Proper man.
Someone should have asked him about Scotlands referendum vote 🫣

I attended this event. The items that are signed are auctioned to the tables live.
You’ve gone very quiet
It’s stuff for sale/auction at the event clearly 😂
A simple thank you is sufficient. Little more is pure drivel! Glad you breached the subject.

Visual karma or dharma is not helping ill wait it out❤❤🎉🎉
Film was shot in ireland
Not all of it..
Partly filmed in Scotland too, Glencoe and Loch Leven.
@traceys8065 most of it was. Your talking about a couple of minutes of the film. Even Mel Gibson criticised that at the time.
I answered another person on this. So what? I believe Ireland offers more financially beneficial terms for many films. Would have been much nicer for it all to be filmed in Scotland since it was a film about Scotland. But what is your point?
@@scathachmuirisc7149 you explained the point perfectly.
Of course he loves Scotland.
He had not been there for nearly 30 years
😂😂

2 heads are better than bum 🤔
