Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Neat rock picker. Is interesting you have to do that. Our soil is so different here in Central Iowa. Very rare you run across a rock or one that needs to be removed. You soil has a lot of rocks so see where that picker is handy to have. Do you pick a lot of rocks??????
Good time to do the odd jobs. Always those to do around the farm.
Like the new dryer setup. Looks very handy to operate. Good you can control from a phone when busy in the field. Good company.
Good to see your dad. He gets around real good for having knee surgery. Good guy. Easy going.
Looking forward to the new grill. No guess on what kind. Probably be wrong anyway.
All for now. Hope your fields dry up for you.

My Grandfather was small farmer so this does not apply to today but there was a time when all grandfather had to do was get the tractor close and I would simply pull the chisel plow on to the hitch. The equipment was just so much smaller. He also had a Ford 800 series tractor. Low to the ground.
When I was a kid I saw the Russian Rocky movie. It is then I realize using my grandfather's single pulley in the barn pulling rocks up like Sly Stallone made me stronger. I also had a rock I picked up. Set down and picked up like strong me. I had farm kid strength. I was my grandfather's rock picker.

I have told the story many times but picking up rocks in fields was my job growing up. Old man Zucker would line 50 kids 10 feet apart with buckets and a tractor following behind. When your bucket got full, you dumped it into the tractor bucket and kept on going. But it paid $1.25/hour back in the 70's that was a lot of money for a kid. Man, I must have walked 500 miles it felt like.

I reallllly like that rock picker. Ours was myself and a wheelbarrow. When it was 3/4 full, I'd head down to the pond and dump it in, or we used some to slow erosion along ditches. When the wheel fell off (usually once a trip) I'd pound the metal back with a rock and continue on. Metal fatigue on the wheel bracket let it work loose. Not a fun time, but it taught me character...or something.

1 year ago today the new Millennial Farmer video was titled "Our Last Day Planting Corn".
I guess things are a bit behind this year.

On that year truck, you need to keep the hood hinges greased. They are famous for folding. Look it up.

So weird to hear a tractor start without a dog barking in the background. 🙂

wait... so you are saying the barking was the dog and not the tractor? mind=blown

when a tractor starts in a field does the dog bark in the yard lol. kind of like the tree dropping in the forest.

as any farmer will tell you, rocks actually breed underground and surface in the spring looking for territory to move to. you have to pick these up as they will simply make more rocks next year

I'm not sure if I can do it but willing to make 110,000 accounts to see that dog in a tractor.
