Me and my grandpa modified mine we swapped out the tubes for 1950s 12AU7 tubes and we swapped the speaker out for a Jensen vintage style 8 in we redid the inside as well to where it's completely hand-wired like how they had tube amps back in the 40s and 50s my amp now sounds like a 1940s Sears Silvertone 1300 I now get those exact same early Johnny Cash Sun records tones
      I also use flatwound strings
I've also played 1940 Sears silvertone 1300 I know what they sound like in my amplifier sounds the exact same now like I said
Oh yeah and we changed the grill cloth to a Tanish brown color like a Sears Silvertone 1300 had we even added the music note on the grill cloth and painted the chassis brown and painted the amp a Tanish brown color
      Howdy from North Carolina
My guitar style is more like Luther Perkins I've been playing guitar since I was 7 I'm turning 21 next month

@southernpride2003 that is awesome! Is there anyway you could send me over the schematic for that? I'd love to try this for myself. I grew up playing old silvertone stuff

Only used was a Fender pro jr schematic grandpa has a degree in electronics and so he used what he knew about hand wiring things and used those skills along with seeing the schematics that's how we were able to do it I'm only 21 my grandpa also does woodworking as well if you notice the guitar in my profile picture that's my homemade guitar I've had that since I was 11 years old when me him built it

Hi there I have this amp and I have no complaints about it. It's really loud and sounds good with pedals. It also sounds good with nothing but a guitar. You can grab it and go and jam with your buddies. Just turn it up as loud as you feel like and it overdrives really great. If I were going to add/change anything i might add a effects loop. But to me this is a great buy. If you want a little more you might buy the 15 watt version which comes with a bit more eq. I think this works really well and it's too bad this one arrived with a bad tube. They should take care of you ya know. Mine has been good all around. Play loud Bye for now.

I feel the same it's a killer little amp and ton of fun to use all the time. I have been using a different amp lately which I'll have in a video soon. It's a pretty cool one you won't want to miss.

They are a lot of fun and sound really good. Especially at full tilt with the tone dialed back.

I remember seeing those Flat 4 boost pedals in Sweetwater catalogs back in the day, and always wanted to try one. Do you use it regularly?

The flat 4 is fantastic. real nice old style boost that just pushes any sound over the top without being too much. I've had a few of the vox pedals over the years and most of them have been really good. easy way to change the tone slightly is to change the tube in it real quick.

I just bought this amp and because I live in mental assisted housing I have 2 housemates who are control freaks...so I can't turn up... The way around it for me is to send the signal through powered monitors (Mackie CR 4 -X) crank up the amp and use very little volume (Housemates again) of the monitor's...More if use a pedal or three and the last in the signal chain as a noise gate...any other suggestions?

You could try a power attenuator to get it down to a 1/4 watt or lower. They are a touch pricey for a nice one though. There aren't too many ways to get it much lower otherwise due to it already having a 1 watt attenuator built in. Hmm I'd have to think more on that. Maybe a master volume mod? These amps really are just a Laney cub rebranded after Laney stopped making them.
