I leased a 2023 Highlander Platinum Four-cylinder turbo, gas, engine, all-wheel-drive… traded in a Lexus GX V8. This car has more than enough power with the turbo engine, is extreme luxury in the platinum model. I trust Toyotas reliability and I give this car a 10 out of 10!!!

Thanks for your commend and feedback. Yep, Toyota has certainly upped their game in terms of building not only reliable cars like they used to in the past, but also more solid, more stable with better steering. I am pleased with all the new Toyota/Lexus models having better driving dynamics overall.

Loved this video! I purchased a '23 Highlander Hybrid FWD this past December. It's my first Hybrid and I'm impressed. The way I drive I'm averaging 40mpg and I've never been anywhere near that in my previous vehicles. I can say after 6k miles of driving around Florida I'm a huge fan of hybrids now but we'll see long term.
    Really great review! Subbed.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I am happy you liked this real world driving review. I was pleasantly surprised how well Toyota Highlander Hybrid drives. Also when you drive it by trying to stay on electric motor as often as you can, mainly in the city - it makes you a better conscious driver. I certainly didn't feel like I needed a new 2.4 Turbo engine, this hybrid setup was very adequate.

Thank you for your review. Although this car is not inteded for high speed driving, I drove it in a hurry at around 180 km/h (max. speed) on the Autobahn in Germany. I can confirm that at high speed the car feels very stable, controlable and safe as well. Power is more than sufficient for.

Yes, it's a great SUV and if you are shopping for one don't just settle with your local dealership. I usually get a list of dealers within 100-150 miles, check their inventory first and then start bombarding them and negotiate. I found that dealers in remote areas are more willing to negotiate even in these crazy times when there is cars shortage.

Thanks for all the information. I agree personally I don’t like the bronze rims at all, as far as the inside goes if you move up to the Limited or Platinum models the seats look way better. I’ve been looking for the Platinum Hybrid with AWD, there still hard to get and with the price and interest rates right now I may wait a while to purchase one.

You did a great, comprehensive review! You also answered my question about AWD versus FWD! Thank you! I think it would be great for you to compare your review car with others at the very end. For example, this car rated 7 out of 10. The X car rates 8 out of 10, the Y car rates 6 out of 10. Think of something like the Doug DeMuro ratings at the end. I look at those to see what is better and worse than the review car. Otherwise, a very, very good review!

How would you compare the Highlander Hybrid to RAV4 Hybrid in terms of driving dynamics, ride quality, noise level, and overall luxury feeling ?

    • @100miledrive
      @100miledrive  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I found highlander to be a bit more upscale. Materials also in Highlander feel slightly better. In Rav4 doors feel kind of cheap, had scratches on the new car. Between the 2 I would take Highlander for sure. But even then Rav4 is still a great car for it's size, I just think they are due for a major upgrade. Dynamically Highlander also felt more balanced in cornering. Rav4 is more relaxed car in general.

Thanks for the feedback. I found it to be OK in my full day driving the car, but my opinion could change if I were to own one. Basically it is not satistying on how it accelerates, but rather very much capable for the job. I think once they make a plugin hybrid similar to Rav4 Prime that should give it more stisfying power.

2 Things They Do Not Tell You!
    ** Hybrid Is HORRIBLE!! **
    ** BUYERS BEWARE! **
** Do Not Buy The Hybrid!! *** Do Not Get Electronic Rear-View Mirror! **
I bought a brand new '21 Highlander Hybrid Platinum. There 2 things I found out after -- only if I knew prior -- I would not have bought this vehicle.
    (1) The Toyota dealership told me that they will not do undercoating due to an electrical panel/access, and/or some sort of electrical colour-wiring code that if sprayed undercoating, it would cause an issue to the mechanic if something needs to be fixed. Therefore, driving without undercoating is extremely noisy. Like coins rattling in an aluminum can. I live in the city of Calgary, not in the rural. And, we have 4 seasons here. The noise when driving in this car is absolutely ridiculous.
    (2) The electronic rear-view mirror: when driving at night, it displays "star burst" effect fr other vehicles' headlamps. I adjusted every angle and brightness. I brought it to the dealership, and they have no clue. It's been months now and they still have no answer. They said to me "when we get a model like yours come in for service, we'll look to compare". It's been months. Go figure. They probably are hoping that I would just forget. Either the electronic rear-view mirror display or the camera is a product of a very poor quality, or it's defective. It is annoying, nonetheless. I asked the shop manager to contact Toyota and do an inquiry regarding the electronic rear-view mirror display. He said Toyota would just tell him to do more testing. I don't know how many more tests Toyota wants to see, really. Because the dealership had my vehicles for days for test, and they agreed that there is an unusual "star burst" effect in the display.
So, before you head to a Toyota dealership to purchase a Highlander Hybrid and/or pay that extra dollars for the electronic rear-view mirror option. Think about these issues!
