One better esp in dusty climates, if you put a couple of damp paper towels on top, THEN the pillowcase. This is a great tip. Greatly appreciated as someone with asthma!! Also a great way to clean pendant lights!
I have been dreading cleaning my fan in my bedroom because I fell behind dusting it. Today was the day. I watched your video and your method worked perfectly! No mess! Thank you for taking the time to make this video!! ❤️
Linda Orines me too. Can’t win either way. Cleaning it causes allergies and leaving it keep allergies going! Need to make it a monthly chore/habit if possible but I need to tell myself the same lol
Brilliant. Thank you!! I have ceiling fans in every room and you are right. I could not believe the layers of dust on the blades. It's unbelievable and the fan in my bedroom is over the bottom of my bed. The dust are dirt would be all over my bed.
Thank you so much for the great idea since my filthy fan was above my bed. I just sprayed Glass Plus to the inside of the pillowcase and just like that! Clean fan!
This is actually a great idea and I am short as well. I normally start with the vacuum to try to avoid all the mess and it never worked and just frustrated me. I am glad to have found this video!
yes!!! I have to do this but have been putting it off because it`s my least fav. thing to clean... I think when you put furniture polish on the blades it helps the dust stay off for a bit longer
I have 4 ceiling fans in my house and 10' ceilings. I cleaned them all today. It's dangerous standing on a ladder trying to clean the blades no matter which technique you're using. The Idea I came up with is a quick release that would allow you to just detach the blades and wash them in a utility sink or outside with a hose then reattach them. Each blade would need to be marked so that when they're reattached the fan remains balanced.
Or just use the same ladder and a vacuum attachment to clean the blades. There’s even long attachments dedicated to clean fan blades so a ladder isn’t needed.
Best way to clean is just like cleaning windows. Ad a couple drops of dish soap and teaspoon of vinegar in a bucket of warm water. Microfiber rags are the best to use for these applications.
Hi I just want to ask you something am I right when I say that it's not a buyer's market right now it's a seller's market and one more thing since you're in real estate by any chance do you see prices dropping in the near future?
@@juanferrer4138 Depending on whre you live will determine if its a buyers market or sellers market. As far as prices dropping dramatically that will depend if their is a lot of new construction if there is most likely home prices will have the most significant price drops.
I have the same type of windows as you with the huge headers and I hung my rods way up closer to the ceiling. I think it looks a lot nicer if you want to try :) sorry, couldn't help but notice!
@S G A much better and safer way to do it. If you lose your balance the first thing you'll do is grab the fan blade. Snap goes the blade and now you really have a problem!
That's why people need to clean their homes before they sell them Once the house is completely empty that's when the cleaning starts You will still get dust but it'll be last because there's no one in the home to make the dust
The pillowcase seems less ideal than a trash bag. Slip a trash bag all the way over the blade, then use a damp cloth to assist sweeping it into the bag as you remove the blade from the bag? Seems better than a cloth pillowcase to me
Kristina Smallhorn yup! I also use the dust cleaning sticks to push the dust into a plastic garbage bag and then the dust just turns into balls that I can throw away.

Love this! Doing this with a trash bag instead and a swiffer dust pad inside to catch, thanks!!!
THANK YOU! I've been avoiding cleaning our fans because my husband and I both have horrible allergies.
Linda Orines me too. Can’t win either way. Cleaning it causes allergies and leaving it keep allergies going! Need to make it a monthly chore/habit if possible but I need to tell myself the same lol
I clean the fan with baby wipes
Done
No dust everywhere
No dust on the floor
Great tip! Thank you! I sprayed dust spray and let it sit to loosen up the dirt first and also used a trash bag instead. Big time saver!
Having 12 people here, plus a friend and his 2 kids. (For Easter dinner) So, that's why I have been sneezing!! Thank you sooooo Very much, Kristina!!!
Thank you for this! And by the way, you’re not vertically challenged...everybody else is too tall
Totally agree! LOL. 😂
Oh my gosh THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I really needed this vid in my life. I struggle with horrible allergies and was just dreading cleaning my fan.
Brilliant. Thank you!! I have ceiling fans in every room and you are right. I could not believe the layers of dust on the blades. It's unbelievable and the fan in my bedroom is over the bottom of my bed. The dust are dirt would be all over my bed.
I too have bad alergies and hate the day to clean my fans. This video totally life saver, so thank you so much!

Great idea. Thank you. Del Mar fans did this many years ago.
Brilliant! Thank you!

Wow ,great hack
Nice idea 🤩
I needed a reminded just look up and I need reninded
Great video!
Thanks for this.😁
I use a swiffer dry mop
Love your idea 💡 thanks for sharing 😘

Than how do you clean the pillow case?
Genius
Brilliant. Thx
I usually clean the fan with vacuum cleaner hose and brush. 😉
@S G A much better and safer way to do it. If you lose your balance the first thing you'll do is grab the fan blade. Snap goes the blade and now you really have a problem!
Me too, easy peasy😎
❤️❤️❤️❤️Thank you for this ideal! I love it!
Great 👍
BABY WIPES HUGGIES WORK BEST.
Awesome thank you very much mine looks really dirty lol
I actually wash it with soapy water..
I wash mine too, after I vacuum each blade using a brush attachment. 👍🏼

SUB'D! Can't wait to learn more from you
What about the dead mossies and bugs on the blades!!
A better way: Lint roller on a paint roller holder with a broomstick extension.
Next question what about the part in the middle?
Very smart ❤️👏

Hey, Louisiana!
I don't have old pillowcases to do this with!

I sandwich the blades with swifter pads and use a garbage bag instead of a pillow case. Easier clean up.
What do you do when you can't get up there?
Skip the nonsense to 1:30 saved you 90 seconds of ur life, thank me later ✌️
What was going on at the 1;25 point in the video?? Just askng.
Right but if it is higher in the high ceiling? 😅
Thank you for this! Tip:if you don’t have an old ceiling fans then use a plastic garbage bag!
Kristina Smallhorn yup! I also use the dust cleaning sticks to push the dust into a plastic garbage bag and then the dust just turns into balls that I can throw away.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
So, get a ladder if needed and get a pillowcase? Got it, this video is 3 minutes to long, thanks though
@@KristinaSmallhorn only because you asked nicely I'll subscribe. No guarantees for the future; I tend to subscribe to videos straight to the point
or trash bag
Help my roof is 10ft tall
I live in an old house
What about ceiling fans not reachable with a ladder?
Would a trash bag work?
that looks safe
Now I gotta wash a dusty pillow case
What about when the ceiling fan has grime on it
A little extra work, but you can unscrew each fan blade and wipe them down with soap and water if they're bad.
Great video but who told you this background music was good it sounds like it's straight from a meme, thanks for the help
clever. :3
i use a wet cloth
Starts at 1:24. You're welcome, honey.
Too bad if the fan is over the bed!
woodprix is nice for that.
Don't forget to wear a Dust Mask - just in case!
Yeahhh, most people don't have ladders.
Lol what? Really? Not even a step stool?
How about a hot dish rag with dish soap and bleach. Its not rocket science. Lol pillow cases ? Hahahahaha
Mines so dustyyy, I so stuffy from it
Mine gets caked with Chiwienie Hair! Damn Bela Lugosi!
no, not everyone has old pillow cases lying around lol
in the thumbnail the fan is a mini breeze
Take a tip? Just the tip? Surely someone told u the innuendo made
