I actually really liked the old wall paper but the new colors make the room look bigger and actually make your beautiful furniture the star of the show! Love that she framed a piece of the old wall paper for you!
So restful looking with declutter and paint job!! Awesome! My grandparents lost their home and business in a fire, around 1930. She had items she hand made for when the children were older. Those precious things were all destroyed. When I was a teen, my grandmother told me about it. Her very strong advice was to take care of everything you have but use it and enjoy it.
I lived in our honeymoon cottage for almost 30 years with my piano behind our dining room table turned computer desk. The piano was full of papers and clutter. We finally moved out to our retirement house with a formal living room/dining room combo that looks so much like our last house it's not even funny. It's like we brought our old house with us and every day, I get to enjoy a piano that's just a piano not a dusty cluttery thing full of papers. And we got a family room that I did a beachy motif in...looks like a Panama City condo! Dreamy. I was 53 before I got my "toes up" house but it's a good size to take us to whatever lies ahead. Good job on your cleanup it must have felt wonderful getting that done.
I can't even tell you how excited I am over the framed wall paper! I was gonna suggest that ! It really is super pretty ! It looks great. Use the fancy stuff. I can't even tell you how much of it I see brand new at the thrift store never even used. So sad. Enjoy it. Have tea and cookies with the girls. Or lunch. Or Sunday dinners. Don't save it. You will be happy. Promise. Because when you look at it later in life it will remind you of all the times you have together ❤

I've been in the same apartment 17 years and I decided I needed to paint so I just finished the living room ceiling. Omg it's so refreshing. I'm sure you feel the same way with dining room. I really love how these videos really depict genuine progress, and I said this before but can’t say it enough, I love the realness. No Instagramy Pinterest-esque HGTV unrelatable ideas of how to declutter and reorganize a home. Your videos are raw and relatable to regular people like the rest of us and it makes me feel less bad about myself that my home may not be the ones in a magazine right now (even though those magazine “homes” are just sets with fake fruit and fake doors and borrowed furniture a lot of the times lol).

As excited as I am about the dining room transformation i felt bad showing the room with that big chunk of carpet gone. It looks so horrible! But I did what I could with the budget I had right now. Inspirational! I got a silver sharpie, marked every cord we're using with what it goes to. Some with no room I folded an address label in half and just wrote on it. Now if I find a laptop, tablet , walkie talkie charger, tool charger or random cord, i know what it goes to. I did throw out a few things I actually needed, like my lawnmower charger.. whoops.. but I ordered a replacement and marked it when I came in. Thanks for sharing the "new habit" tips too, like weekly homework clean out.
I'm doing the same thing. It's hard to get rid of it, but one day at a time. It took years to accumulate, it's going to take more than a day to get rid of it Good job, Jodi!
Like Lynn said, use the china. We are in the process of selling my Grandmas 3 sets, because we never used it. It really is about sparking joy and happy memories, not the monetary value.

Just declutter my basement. Felt so happy that I threw away things I dont need. Told my husband if I dont see it I won't know I will keep it. Just throw it away. Lol made my day😵
I have several planners that I never use! I keep trying to find the magic one that will change my life! Lol! I have some undated ones, they are hilarious….a few months from one year, then skip a few years and a month in that year, then another year….yup, I can relate.
We're about to paint the kitchen living room, laundry and toilet. Colour choices though! There's so many to choose from! Hubby's idea,let's start with white (primer)! Delayed decisions 🤯
Perhaps you would consider getting rid of one of your three cabinets to have less spaces for things to be stashed in and to collect things on top. Try to let go of your guilt when you think of letting go of your great aunt's teacups. And perhaps you could sell your silverware? When my mom died, I gladly took her small set of 4 place setting and used them some but got so sick of having to polish them I gave them to my sister and NEVER regretted it!

Looks amazing. I have my Granny’s china on display and I do use it occasionally. My sister has her dining room set and she did paint the whole set. It looks amazing but I don’t know that I would have painted it. Great job so far.
Great job! Your dining room is looking beautiful!! I love the furniture-especially the table!! A suggestion would be to take all of the displayed glasses and place them in either a kitchen cabinet or where you put those plates from your family member. It will look much less busy and will keep the glasses from getting all dusty. Maybe display the two beautiful tea cups there instead? Just a suggestion-but it really looks fantastic.
Jodi, A-MAZ-ING! I love, love, love it! That looks so incredible! That picture of the old wallpaper is perfect for hanging in that room! It looks so much bigger with that light color from chair rail to the ceiling. I think you did such an amazing job with the decluttering but even more than that, I know you feel amazing to know you can sit in your dining room and have a beautiful family holiday meal or even just a Sunday dinner, or whatever it may be. And yes Jodi, please go ahead, use that china and crystal. I have my grandmother's china and I try to use it when I can. Just makes for a warm feeling for some reason. Live life to the fullest. It's so beautiful and is made to be used, not stared at...in my opinion. Fill those crystal glasses and make a toast to having completed that dining room for you and your family. You deserve to live the best life and so does your family. And gosh, you've been busting tail to get to where you are. That room truly is something you'd see on an HGTV episode and I think the wood is perfect of that set because wood = warmth, at least to me. And that's perfect for the dining room. And you're right, they don't make furniture like that anymore. I still have my parents' first bedroom set, a French provincial set and yes, it's been used, but all with love and they purchased it in 1961. So it needs a sanding and some staining but I wouldn't trade it for anything in any fancy showroom today. I just took a break and was reading some of the other comments. Love that they said USE that china too! (Funny side note...didn't mention it when I first saw it in the original video...that room divider...had the EXACT same one but my husband sort of put in hook locks to try to keep my 9 cats in one area of the house. Didn't work and needless to say that divider went out to the garbage a while back, but it was the exact same one. Now they rule even more of our home but it is what it is. We chose to have them and we deal with whatever that entails. And while you were decluttering I saw your furry one scoot by and my cat was on my desk and saw it too, the one that looks extremely similar to your fluffy one. They have that Maine Coon tail and fur. Mine is named Puffins. And he thinks he's my actual child. I have to hold and rock him. Totally off topic, but shared because I saw your fluffy one "helping" while you were doing your hutch cabinets. But I love the dining room and wish you many happy times where you make memories and share love over meals together in that room. They are the things that your children and grandchild(ren) will remember forever.

I think you are biased because you like me ❤️ It’s definitely not a fancy dinning room but it’s absolutely perfect for us and extended family. Yes the dinning table and hutch is so beautiful I just can’t change it. I can remember having meals at that table with family when we’d go to my aunt Marie’s. And it’s got scarps and dents because like you said about your parents bedroom set, it’s been well loved ❤️ Funny I actually bought the room divider to use as a background for filming content. But we had to keep Gus out of the dinning room because he would occasionally go in there and pee 🤦♀️ reason why the carpet is ripped up. So I put that up so he’d stop going in and there. Yes you saw Tank. She’s full of attitude and sass and I love her. I bet all your cats have their own little personalities. Cats are such wonderful companions 😻😻

Tip: If you have paint left over, you can remove the outlet covers and paint them. Once dry put them back on the wall and they will seem to disappear against the backdrop of the colored lower wall.
You may already have something like this but I seen one person collect all the unused school supplies and put them in a bin together. When the kids needed more school supplies they shopped their bin first before going out and buying anything. Just an idea.

Beautiful! I love throwing things away and donating them also. I mentally feel lighter. My furnace broke but I had planned to decluttering a room tomorrow and it will have to wait but I am staying motivated! I have pleated shades on all my windows because I love a lot of light. Just a suggestion!

I have several planners that I never use! I keep trying to find the magic one that will change my life! Lol! I have some undated ones, they are hilarious….a few months from one year, then skip a few years and a month in that year, then another year….yup, I can relate.

We're about to paint the kitchen living room, laundry and toilet. Colour choices though! There's so many to choose from! Hubby's idea,let's start with white (primer)! Delayed decisions 🤯

Perhaps you would consider getting rid of one of your three cabinets to have less spaces for things to be stashed in and to collect things on top. Try to let go of your guilt when you think of letting go of your great aunt's teacups. And perhaps you could sell your silverware? When my mom died, I gladly took her small set of 4 place setting and used them some but got so sick of having to polish them I gave them to my sister and NEVER regretted it!

Looks amazing. I have my Granny’s china on display and I do use it occasionally. My sister has her dining room set and she did paint the whole set. It looks amazing but I don’t know that I would have painted it. Great job so far.
I have my Grandmas China as well but it’s in boxes 🤦♀️

Maybe you can add some brackets to under the shelf on the china cabinet. They can hold your wine and martini glasses and they would stay dust free.

Great job! Your dining room is looking beautiful!! I love the furniture-especially the table!! A suggestion would be to take all of the displayed glasses and place them in either a kitchen cabinet or where you put those plates from your family member. It will look much less busy and will keep the glasses from getting all dusty. Maybe display the two beautiful tea cups there instead? Just a suggestion-but it really looks fantastic.

Jodi, A-MAZ-ING! I love, love, love it! That looks so incredible! That picture of the old wallpaper is perfect for hanging in that room! It looks so much bigger with that light color from chair rail to the ceiling. I think you did such an amazing job with the decluttering but even more than that, I know you feel amazing to know you can sit in your dining room and have a beautiful family holiday meal or even just a Sunday dinner, or whatever it may be. And yes Jodi, please go ahead, use that china and crystal. I have my grandmother's china and I try to use it when I can. Just makes for a warm feeling for some reason. Live life to the fullest. It's so beautiful and is made to be used, not stared at...in my opinion. Fill those crystal glasses and make a toast to having completed that dining room for you and your family. You deserve to live the best life and so does your family. And gosh, you've been busting tail to get to where you are. That room truly is something you'd see on an HGTV episode and I think the wood is perfect of that set because wood = warmth, at least to me. And that's perfect for the dining room. And you're right, they don't make furniture like that anymore. I still have my parents' first bedroom set, a French provincial set and yes, it's been used, but all with love and they purchased it in 1961. So it needs a sanding and some staining but I wouldn't trade it for anything in any fancy showroom today. I just took a break and was reading some of the other comments. Love that they said USE that china too! (Funny side note...didn't mention it when I first saw it in the original video...that room divider...had the EXACT same one but my husband sort of put in hook locks to try to keep my 9 cats in one area of the house. Didn't work and needless to say that divider went out to the garbage a while back, but it was the exact same one. Now they rule even more of our home but it is what it is. We chose to have them and we deal with whatever that entails. And while you were decluttering I saw your furry one scoot by and my cat was on my desk and saw it too, the one that looks extremely similar to your fluffy one. They have that Maine Coon tail and fur. Mine is named Puffins. And he thinks he's my actual child. I have to hold and rock him. Totally off topic, but shared because I saw your fluffy one "helping" while you were doing your hutch cabinets. But I love the dining room and wish you many happy times where you make memories and share love over meals together in that room. They are the things that your children and grandchild(ren) will remember forever.

Yes the dinning table and hutch is so beautiful I just can’t change it. I can remember having meals at that table with family when we’d go to my aunt Marie’s. And it’s got scarps and dents because like you said about your parents bedroom set, it’s been well loved ❤️
Funny I actually bought the room divider to use as a background for filming content. But we had to keep Gus out of the dinning room because he would occasionally go in there and pee 🤦♀️ reason why the carpet is ripped up. So I put that up so he’d stop going in and there.
Yes you saw Tank. She’s full of attitude and sass and I love her. I bet all your cats have their own little personalities. Cats are such wonderful companions 😻😻

My small gift bags and ribbons I get from CVS, I keep in the store bag, put on a child's hanger and hang in the storage closet.
Yes having a spot for them Sandra makes it so much easier. So happy I created a space and now I know exactly where to look for them when I need them ❤️

Tip: If you have paint left over, you can remove the outlet covers and paint them. Once dry put them back on the wall and they will seem to disappear against the backdrop of the colored lower wall.

You may already have something like this but I seen one person collect all the unused school supplies and put them in a bin together. When the kids needed more school supplies they shopped their bin first before going out and buying anything. Just an idea.

Beautiful! I love throwing things away and donating them also. I mentally feel lighter. My furnace broke but I had planned to decluttering a room tomorrow and it will have to wait but I am staying motivated! I have pleated shades on all my windows because I love a lot of light. Just a suggestion!
