Donovan McNabb led the Syracuse football team to a come-from-behind 28-26 victory on the final play vs. Virginia Tech at the Carrier Dome on Nov. 14, 1998.
I’ve been to many games at the carrier dome. This by far was the greatest game ever there. I sat on the first level right over v tech locker room. The 2 things that I will never forget is the look of total disbelief on frank beamer face as he walked of the field and the scores of people ran onto the field to celebrate. It was unreal!
I’m sure both teams and whoever watched the game remember this. The atmosphere looked electric. It came down to the last play and the Orangemen came out victorious. Great game by the entire team.
This was my son's first SU Football game...We had a tradition of me, my brother and my dad go every year, and this year my son was able to join our group. At 7 yrs old, what a game to go to for your 1st SU game!
I remember seeing this across field TD pass from McNabb saying nooooo! I'm a Hokie, this play comes to mind everytime I hear the name McNabb. VT went undefeated in 1999 and shut out Syracuse 62-0
This was actually 1998. 1999 was a 62-0 shellacking in Blacksburg, FWIW.
