🚆Through the Gotthard Base Tunnel on a beautiful morning (Cab Ride Switzerland | Basel - Bellinzona)

- It's time to visit the Gotthard Base Tunnel again, this time in the other direction! We set off in Basel on a cloudy morning, but just shortly after, the clouds disappear and a beautiful trip through the heart of Switzerland awaits us, with gorgeous morning scenes as we pass Lake Zug, Lake Lauerz and Lake Lucerne.
The ride through the tunnel is UNCUT! Since our maximum speed is 100km/h (62mph), it takes quite some time to pass the total of 57 kilometers (35mi). Information about the Gotthard Base Tunnel will be displayed upon entry into the tunnel.
Skip to 2:41:40 to see the sunlight again and enjoy the cabride further down south until we reach Bellinzona.
A lot of you have been asking for this and here we are (again) - riding through the majestic Gotthard Base Tunnel! An absolutely fascinating piece of engineering and nothing less than the longest tunnel in the world.
Locomotive: Re 474 (Siemens ES64F4)
More information about the train and the trip is displayed in the video!

Kenne jetzt halb Europa. LG aus der Südsteiermark
Of the many program views on railway journeys that I have seen over the years, this one gave me the most satisfaction and superb delight.
This should be shown by Swiss Tourism. The country is so beautiful!
Go to their website, still under medical dictatorship.. 🤭😒😒
Fantastic video! Thank you for taking the time to make your videos. On June 25, 2014 three of us from the US had a personal tour of the shops and equipment at Erstfeld and then went on the guided tour of the GBT. After orientation, we were driven through one of the side service tunnels that intersect the GBT at one of the emergency stops (TA Amsteg). It was about 100 degrees and somewhere around 8 km inside from the main entrance. We got to climb over the top of the tunnels and see a display section of the tunnel on the other side. We toured the emergency shelter and were able to walk across the track in the tunnel and take pictures. Something I'll never forget! And in June, 2018 rode through the tunnel 2 or 3 times.
Both times I've been to your beautiful country we spend 2 or 3 weeks riding trains. In 2018 we rode over 50 trains and some 7700 KM in Switzerland and Germany. Your videos bring back a lot of great memories. We hope to try again in 2021 if they find a vaccine for the covid-19.
Switzerland has the best and most beautiful rail system in the world! And the scenery ain't bad either! :) Stay safe and keep up the good work!
Yeah the construction. This the first I'm seeing it in operation.🙃
thank you to thoses who film this kind of video and upload it on TH-cam. we can share beautifull places.
The photography is simply breathtaking and the videos are professionally made. A joy to watch. Harry Kocher, Toronto, Canada.
Indeed a wonderful journey in wonderful Switzerland. Thank you so much. Watching this, is like being on holiday.
Another beautiful trip. Thank you so much! Like others here, I'm becoming addicted to these videos! Scarier still, it's reaching the point where I can identify many of the stations along the routes from memory before the names appear on screen!
As you said these videos are addictive and I agree. But they're a beautiful addiction, don't you think?
Very nice video. I appreciate that it shows the entire trip as it happened with no sections cut out. Beautiful ride, amazing engineering.
Some of the most beautiful views of the Alps I have seen on a train video. Great!
I am addicted to these videos
Watching this video in its entirety has taught me that I have alot of patience plus the sun only rises once a day and unless I've missed something it seems it had risen sometime before this video even started
Great ride and absolutely beautiful countryside. Thank you for sharing!
Brilliiant cab ride thank you. The landscape is spectacular!
Great video, thanks for sharing, hugs from Brazil
A very beautiful and interesting trip! Thanks for sharing....
Another wonderful journey, so glad to have come across your channel. I have always loved Swiss railways and getting to see my favourite line of the whole network from this perspective is truly fascinating. I would love to have the opportunity to see the Swiss rail network from this view myself one day
What an awesome view approaching Brunnen.
WOW ! Just over 37 minutes in that tunnel. Nice, Long ride.
Danke!
Switzerland 2020 !
It looks so fresh and alive !
Superb! Very very very good video........
I will have to wait until I return to the UK next week to watch this epic. I look forward to it!
Territet in the UK you have better trains. enjoy them :)

This never gets old.... thank you....
Einfach Spitze.Ich wünsche ein schönes Wochenende
You're living the dream here my friend.
excellent as always, great ride through the GBT, plus sunshine at both sides, great scenery well produced.
Klasse Fahrt, schönes Panorama. Danke.
Very, very enjoyable trip. Up to yours usual high standards. Thank you!
I live in the UK and to travel through the Gotthard Tunnel from my home, sit back and enjoy the ride.
What a trip. Fantastic video. Beautiful scenery. I watch many cab rides from many different countries, this has to be one of, if not the best . Glad I am a subscriber. All the best. Mick🇬🇧
Excellent video as always. Thanks.
What a fantastic video, thanks for sharing.
Švajčiarsko je krásne 😃😃😃😃. Prekrásne železničné tunely a trate 😃😃😃😃.
Nádherná príroda 😃😃😃😃.
thanks! that was fun
Great video!!
Enjoyed every minute. A truly beautiful part of the world. I'm still getting over being able to look down on a cloud from a train. Thank you for sharing.
Sensacional paseo !!! Gracias 👍👍👍🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
BRILLIANT!!!
Watching the train go through Schwyz. My grandfather came from a village near Schwyz, emigrated in the 1890's. Interesting to think that he was probably familiar with that scenery. Thnks.
Great video!
Congratulations.
Tolle Mitfahrt. Daumen hoch! :)
Grüße

Good Evening, once again. Hey if I should forget. Have a Merry Christmas... I love this ride...
Very nice.
Thank you
Auch dieses Supervideo sei herzlich verdankt!!!
The smoothness of the rails in the Gotthard Base Tunnel gives me an ASMR.
Superb
Now that I feel I have been to Switzerland, no need to actually go. Thanks Railway Emotions!
Excellent video,danke.
Wie immer super Video!
Perfektné super 😃😃😃😃.
Veľmi prekrasne natočené video 😃😃😃😃😃.
Srdečne pozdravujem zo Slovenska 😃😃😃😃😃.
Nice. Whew! That was the longest ride in the Gatthard Base Tunnel. The tunnel has a temperature of 50 deg Celsius, which is way too high. If one were to stand in the tunnel for even a couple of seconds they would really sweat it out or even suffocate. Otherwise a lovely ride through the mountains of Switzerland.
C'mon they have two fans at each end.. It should be more than enough.
Awesome PoV!
Epic ride!
Fantastic route, in and out of the Gotthard Base tunnel, a vital section of impressive infrastructure. It would be great to see a more Europe/Asia rollout of ERTMS. The closest we have to that technology in the UK is TVM430 on HS1. I travel extensively by rail nationally here in the UK and Internationally across Europe. Seeing this route from the cab makes you appreciate the scenery as well as the technical aspects of the route. Thank you. I will be on the look out for more trips.
Even when this was posted, Cambrian, the Thameslink core and Heathrow were all ETCS2 fitted? (now, you can add the Northern City to that list too)
It certainly was a beautiful day. Thank you for a most enjoyable video. On another topic, I wish you could persuade your CFF colleagues to do some cab rides. I travelled to Genève last week and apart from the nice scenery (especially Puidoux-Chexbres to Lausanne) there are many new things happening with the Léman Express and various line and station upgrades along the way.
You should have pointed out in the video. That magnificent waterfall that is seen on the left. After exiting the tunnel. The time stamp is 2:45:40. BTW, I am becoming addicted to your videos!! ;-)
There are too many things to point out, I'll leave the joy of discovery to the viewer. ;-) Glad you like them! There are many more to see and many more to come!
ma che bel video!
Wonderful. St Pancras to Derby, then Basel to Bellinzona in one night. Good stuff all round, thank you! (btw, the Brewery sign always makes me chuckle),
Shhh, that's my brewery easter egg. ;-)
I see you watched Don’s video too! It’s amazing the effort that everyone goes through to make these videos, allowing us to have the experience of being at the front end of trains...
You're welcome ;-)
Great, See you @ the track... when i film you
Awesome view climbing up the valley side towards Arth-Goldau, with the lake down below, and the Autobahn crossing the valley on a viaduct and diving into a tunnel at 1:32:10.
ACH good video 👍🥇🏆💪🙏👌🙌🎥✨🎆🎇
Fantastique ;)
Greetings from Italy

14:10: "Hmm, I wonder what that building on the right is?" 14:30: "Ah. Thank you very much :-)"
😁
Is that a beer factory?
@@samanli-tw3id Yes, it's the Feldschlösschen Brewery in Rheinfelden
Beautiful ride through the Alps can't wait till spring when I get a chance to get back to Switzerland again, I just wish it was easy to rent a pickup to drive through the Swiss countryside
instead of renting a SUV or car. Of all the European countries Switzerland is made for pickup trucks because it easy to pull campers but it hard to find pickups to rent for a 2 or 3 week trip.
just discovered and subbed here. great work
I scrolled down quickly to see if this was asked but why are you going at a slow speed through the Gotthard Base Tunnel . Love the videos. Very soothing to me. Thanks!
Slow speeds are almost always because a block section ahead is occupied. This was the case here, the train in front had to slow down.
We can see new Bözberg Base Tunnel is still under construction and there is still works on the Stutzeck-Axenberg Tunnel and Gruonbachtunnel for the program C4m (P400)
to be perfect i hope new video will have map and speed real time .... :) love swiss
People caring for me: "Don't worry, there's light at the end of the tunnel"
*The tunnel*: 2:04:39
It's probably just covid 🤭🤭🤭🙄🙀😁
Brilliant 😂
Glorious weather eventually. I notice the point work at GBT has sliding guide bars at the tip of the converging rails to close the gap and reduce impact. Similar to the French dedicated TGV lines. Is the GBT the only place with these points currently on the Swiss system?
I do think this is the only place in Switzerland. This is necessary, or at least very helpful, due to extreme forces in the tight tunnel with the fast trains. Airflow and many other details have their impacts in this very special environment, being deep inside a mountain.
In the UK when track workers are spotted by the train driver he will sound a warning horn. What is the system on Swiss railways? Thanks for all your wonderful videos.
There are spotters at the tracks, wearing white helmets. No need to sound the horn.
I liked the classic tower at Prattelin!
2:07:06 branch to extend the GBT to the North. The other tube also has one of these.
