    In regards to the 2048x2048 or 4096x4096 .. I'd say go for the 4096 anyway. It's 2x the size, and will probably scale down pretty well to 2048. Better than it would scale up anyway, so if you upgrade to live2d pro instead of free, you already have the full size and it saves you work. As general advice for anyone reading comments on this.

    • @KappakoChannel
      @KappakoChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I agree! Especially if you draw with vector lineart, scaling down looks pretty clean

    There's one question that I can't seem to get a clear answer to, do I shade on different layers as well or do I shade on the same layer as my desired object? I know that its common that the shade for the eye white is separate as well as the highlight on the eye but what about the rest of the model?

    • @KappakoChannel
      @KappakoChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Do all the coloring and shading on the same layer as your skin, clothing, hair. For shadow, i put it the same layer as the skin, but if you want it more dynamic, i havent tried it yet but you can make the shadow on a different layer and clip it to the skin layer.

    It’s gonna take me 2 weeks anyway because my current art skill isn’t up to par. I’m gonna have to make my character look much better than she currently does. I had an easy time figuring out what I want my outfit to look like + my colors. The hardest part for me is fundamentals like how to shade hair correctly and how to draw the hair to make sure you can, which obviously I did wrong on my current character. Thanks for the tutorial though, and your follow up to this one was also super helpful!

      Pixels! The free version of Live2d allows for a texture atlus of 2048x2048 pixels so your photoshop doc size should be the same. The pro version of Live2d allows multiple texture atlus each with a max of 16384x16384 pixels. There is no limit for the pro version, but if you make it too big, your face tracking program might take more computer power to run.

    That's a beautiful model :)
    You did an amazing job within those 2 weeks!!
    I have a question for the program you used..if you planned to make a vtuber model at first to use it only in a sitting position at the corner of the screen, just to test out how it works and all, would you still need to draw the full body?

    • @KappakoChannel
      @KappakoChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The program is clip studio paint. You dont need the full body to start off, you can draw and rig a half body vtuber. Its actually very common, commissions for half body are cheaper too

      I think so, if you can save it as .psd file. Because Live2d can only import .psd files.

      Sorry your comment got marked for approval and i didnt notice it! If your torso is at a slight ~10 degree angle, it will still look good. Search up the full body image of Nijisanji Kuzuha for an example of a torso that is at an angle but face pointing forward.

    • @KappakoChannel

      You need a psd file because in my next video “How to separate the parts of a Vtuber Model for Live2d” i explain that you need to separate it into layers to prepare for live2d rigging.

    Is it worth using the free version of this program?
    Or does it only work if I actually pay?

    • @KappakoChannel
      @KappakoChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clip studio paint free trial has all the things you need to draw digitally. I think it lasts 30 days so you can try it out until you decide if you want it when the paid version goes on sale.

      I use 5000x5000 pixels, cm or inches dont matter because you're unlikely to be printing out your vtuber model, usually merch art looks very different
