I legitimately wanted to upload this song myself because it didn't exist on TH-cam for such a long time (that, and I also used to upload it myself). I'm glad someone else felt in a similar way. This song is simply irreplaceable.
The original opsーespecially this oneーare so much cooler than the Aimer Ufotable ones in audio and video. The other songs are cool enough, and ufotable's animation is super pretty, but these are like, interesting and novel. I've never seen or heard anything else quite like these.
While the Ufotable OPs (including the ones for the FZ and UBW anime) are good in a vacuum, they are completely unfitting when you look at them as Fate OPs. I genuinely do not understand why Ufotable struggles so much with this. When you start playing the visual novel, the first song you hear is the dark, creepy synth of the main menu theme. When you start watching the anime, the first song you hear is an upbeat Jpop song. I feel like it genuinely undermines the tone.
@@deanthe3684 Yeah. I think ufotable kind of fumbled the tone in general in each of their fate adaptations, though I do enjoy them. The VN, Hollow ataraxia and even the Fate/Zero light novel all have an undertone of horror, like Fuyuki and the holy grail war are haunted. It feels like there are always forces beyond human comprehension lurking in the dark (and in some cases, like Gilles and the shadow in HF, there literally are). Ufotable did not capture that vibe
@@invaderzzI agree wholeheartedly. The ufotable openings feel like they were made for an entirely different anime altogether. The original openings were much more faithful in that regard. Same goes for the adaptations; the hf movies had a godawful tryhard soundtrack. I really do wonder what changed throughout the years because knk was excellent.

Back when Type Moon vibe wasn't overriden by the generic Aimer/Ufotable combo.
Love the detail that this OP has the Main Screen theme in it.
Much as I like UFOtable and Aimer both, nothing TM has put out comes close to being as special as this theme.
