Fantastic as always brother!!! I’ve been loving Nordhavn’s for years! Them and Bering helped me explore the world of civilian yachting. The freedom is awe inspiring
Agreed. If it was owner operated and you wished to maintain it to the same standards, the owners would be exhausted each night after an 8 hr day, every day
To me...Nordhavn isnt just a Yacht. Its more like a fine instrument like a Bosendorfer or Steinway and Sons Concert Grand Piano. This is the Concert Yacht of the Seas.
John, as I have said before, if I could ever afford a yacht that would be the perfect one. Especially with it being a Nordhavn, unmistakably the best build and quality for a trawler / explorer type yacht. It would be my choice unless Lone Ranger ever went back up for sale. As I've told you before I worked on the refit in Miami when Peter Luis bought it back in the 90s and had the multimillion-dollar refit.
While I do love the design of Nordhavn's, for anything over 60 feet in length I'd prefer a steel/aluminum hull like a Bering. Even if it costs a (relatively) few dollars more.
It really depends on yachts systems I personally would feel comfortable soloing a nord 96, with my experience With hydraulic thrusters and station keeping it makes docking very easy . Secondly you plan Set your fenders and have lines available prior to docking With the camera system and extra control stations its very doable if you have the experience. Ive soloed myself a 128ft coastal tug ,
There is family owned and operated boats under 200 gross tons. Its not like its just run by 2 people, but family and friends. right from Nordhavn's own site, "For the enthusiast who is seeking megayacht-like style and features in a boat that is still able to be managed with no - or minimal - crew, the Nordhavn 96 is the ideal solution."
@@TChalla007 Nordhavn builds out all of their models(up to the 120') made from fiberglass. They are going to go steel for anything they build beyond that but all of their models so far are all glass.
Better mileage than that as viva Rae died in the middle of the ocean in Australia. Uses no fuel drifting along in the ocean. Passengers and crew needed to be rescued
That incident had nothing to do with fuel. They were towing their tender when the tow rope became entangled in the props of Viva Rae as they were pulling it closer to Viva. They were unable to conduct attempts to remove the line due to rough sea conditions and had to be rescued. They returned to the boat when the weather settled and recovered her just fine. The tender was even recovered. They were not in the middle of the ocean when this happened. They were 158 nautical miles east of Merauke, West Papua Indonesia on their way to Australia. If you want to tell a story at least tell it right and not just make stuff up. A quick Google search is all it takes.
There is a ton of maintenance, line handling in tricky situations.... no, it can't be done practically speaking. I'm a Master and also former engineer. That is salesman rubbish.

Great to hear! 🫡🙌
Probably Nordhans best looking yacht
22.26 metres is 72.5 ft & 96 ft is 29.5m
If I was spending 13M and bought a 96' go anywhere yacht, I would 100% have at least 3 crew minimum
If i wanted a go anywhere yacht i would choose a steel hull and aluminum structure not fiberglass
@@cprolland1539 like the Bering line

I would be in doubdt about Nordhavn and Bering
Definitely use all four crew spaces. Capt; boatswain; chef; engineer with all having watch keeping certificates.
From Nordhavn directly: >.

Beautiful well thought out but at that price thinking steel hull.
Was this recorded on an old Motorola flip phone?
What a wonderful thing
The interiors are becoming better , perhaps hiring an interior designer will help
Interesting and informative 🇯🇲

Think they'll take a check?
as long as it isnt a rubber one lol
Is this yacht for sale?
Ping me over an email: john@yacht-buoy.com (I will make some enquiries for you)
A 96’ vessel is definitely not a 2 person craft. That ends at 65’
Actually the 76's are easily handled by 2 people.

96 feet is more than 22.26 m, it is 29.26 m, that was a slight human error
Roger that 🫡
Is it strictly made of fiberglass ???? hull and structure ????
Steel hull with an aluminum superstructure. There are no explorer or expedition yachts anywhere in the world made of Fiberglass.
@@TChalla007 Are you sure about that ?? I think hull and decks are made of fiberglass and are basically made from molds like all Nordhavn

$13,000,000.00 where do they come up with these numbers?
3 gallon per mile is steep surely, for 8 knots....i would have thought sub 2,nearer 1.5g per mile, for that speed.
Im guessing they factoring in generator fuel as well ,
Generators probably drinking at least 5gph
96 feet is 30 meters
If James really was a "great" guy, he would have asked you to come along.
No crew? Give me a break!
The boat that I was filming aboard on Friday (28.8M LOA) was sometimes operated by just the owner. It can be done 🫡

will you ever get access to actual tours rather than 3rd party pictures and videos..? I like your style though...
That's the plan! 🙌
Anybody have 13 million I can borrow
Hello. You will have to forgive me. the 120 new. Cost 14 Million $ it do not make any sense. the 96 Thirteen. Million.
