    Very clear instruction. I play a Scottish links course with ubiquitous, deep, revetted face bunkers. If you are not confident getting out, then playing is impossible. Bunker play requires precision and much practice to build confidence.

      I’ve played a lot of golf in Scotland. You’re absolutely right - It’s a nightmare if you don’t have great bunker play!! Thanks for the comment. Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

    Sir, after the setup most crucial is plane of swing in sand. As i understand you are supposed to swing out to in like slicing a ball. Please comment on that.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct! But the amount you align left needs to be monitored based on the individual! A slicer (for example) should square up and feel like they’re hitting inside out in the bunker! One size doesn’t fit all! 🙏🏻

    Thanks for another great video, @andrew! Could you comment on how your would play a fairway bunker differently, or how to play a bunker in not great shape with hard packed sand? Thanks again for these last three short game videos, they are excellent!

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf

      Fairway Bunker - Mitigate first! If you think you can get out with a 7i (hit 8i). Ball closer to center, feet quiet. Practice hitting off low tees in the bunker with full swings clipping the ball with no sand and then remove the tee!
      Hard pan - square face, much shorter swing and steeper descent angle! Hit down and use the leading edge with weight forward and ball just slightly left of center. Bounce is NOT your friend on those hard pan lies.
      Hope that helps! Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

    Wonderful explanation on how to get out of bunkers. Could you address a technique on how to get out of bunkers in which the sand is hard and compacted. Very common here in Michigan and difficult to get the club under the ball. Thanks

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Face square. (Not open). Weight forward with trail shoulder up! Don’t tilt back! Hinge up and hit down finishing shorter! It’s essentially a ‘square to square! (hinge and hold) utilizing the leading edge and not the bounce. It should pop right out for you.
      I hope that helps! Welcome aboard!

    Andrew thanks for this great video. Just a quick question can i use this exact same technique to play a high soft Lob shot from the grass?...what changes would you make?.
    Also i find the scariest shot by far in golf is a very soft Lob shot over a bunker to a close pin off a really tight or skinny lie. Os the technique still the same but use a Lob wedge with less bounce than a Sand Wedge. How do you prevent flipping (causing dredded blade or duff shot) with the trail hand in this shot?.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it’s a great lie - meaning softer and slightly longer grass I’m playing it the same as a bunker shot! I can land the club an inch behind the ball with no rebound so it’s a green light!
      If it’s a firm tight lie there’s no chance I’m hitting a flop shot. The margin for error is too big. I’m going to hit a medium trajectory pitch past the hole and take my medicine.
      Half the battle is reading the lie and picking the right shot at the right time! Thanks for watching!

    I can hit behind the ball (fat) all day long in the fairway, but when in bunkers, all the sudden I mysteriously can't hit behind the ball to save my life. I place the ball WAY forward in my stance and I hit ball first and fly it every single time. Wide, slightly open stance, open club face, low hands. How is it I can hit fat over and over in the fairway, but when actually set up to hit behind the ball in the sand...no can do. Frustrating cuz I play on courses with lots of sand.

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You’re hitting UP on the ball in both cases, but you’re hitting up on the ball MORE in the bunker because you put the ball even further forward.
      It’s very common to subconsciously help the ball up into the air. Try moving the ball a little further back (just left of center) and your weight a little further forward. Then make a bunch of slow swings making sure you’re ‘descending’ into the turf and the sand!! Once you steepen your descent angle I think you’ll start getting better results!
      Thanks for watching and welcome aboard!
