      All you need is a boat and one rod. I actually enjoy fishing from my paddle board more which was about $450 I think. I just take some Senkos and Flukes since you can fish them both off the same hook. It's nice to focus on fishing instead of fishing gear!

Did some crazy shit back then, surfing, rapids and all that but just want to enjoy the quiet and do some fishing now. Great tips and reminders. Thanks so much. Some states actually require you to have either an air horn or a loud whistle on your boat per regulations so the cheap air horn is a great one to throw into the milk crate. There can also be regulations for running lights before dawn and after dusk so the LEDs are a great option. Just remember that you need a green (right side) and a red one (left side). Always love finding Walmart hacks. Great video.

    Ahhhhh the bungee mesh will be great to keep my pool noodle pvc jugs nice and tight to save space. Im using milwaukee packout stuff as a kayak crate and have their crate locked on top of their toolbox. It's expensive but they have a pretty cool setup that can be used for tackleboxes and gear. fits great in the back of the old town pdl 120. They even have cooler and first aid boxes. Everything locked into each other as well as being water resistant.

This was a perfect timing video cuz it just reminded me that I need to make some flip flop leashes for me & my 6 boys because all 6 of my son's have very wide feet & i have very very extremely wide feet & we all have to kayak Barefooted 👣 style. I would like to try to find some wide sandals that we can wear while kayaking. Me & my 6 boys don't mind being barefooted 👣 because we are Barefooted 👣 95% of the time but it would be nice to have some type of sandals on for when we have to get out and walk in the water & not tear up our wide feet we have. My wife loves mine and my six boys wide feet for some reason & she wants us to take protect are feet out there. This was a good video & thank you for reminding me and sharing this video.

      @@wendellfishing you're welcome man. Yeah you should try the flip-flop leash I think you'll like it. It's a good way to hold your flip flops if you want to be barefooted 👣 while kayaking. I lost #1. of my flip-flop today while kayaking cuz I leaned over too far in the flop fell in the water and the current took the Flop into the trees and it took a half an hour to get it out of the trees so a flip-flop leash would be good. This isn't a walmart hack ( unless walmart carries it) but Niteize has a cell phone tether card with a tiny key ring attached that you put under your phone inside your phone case and out of the charging port hole. Then you clip the bungee that comes with it onto the inside of your pfd pocket ( if you have one) and the other end to the ring. No more phone holder tethers that you can't even see your screen through. I just leave it in my phone case at all times. Have had it for almost 2 years now. I can't believe I haven't seen anyone in the kayak world talking about it.

    Just be aware, salt water will destroy about 95% of these Walmart items. They are cost effective, but you'll likely be replacing them every year. Products specifically for boating/fishing in the salt are comprised of stainless steels, graphite bodies, durable canvas and heavy plastic zippers (as opposed to mild steel or aluminum zippers with pot-metal pulls). There is a HUGE difference in quality. I especially think that the retractable dog leash for an anchor rode is an unsafe option. Those will rot out on the inside or at the clasp and will likely fail at the worst moment. Also bear in mind that the inflatable vests are only valid as a PFD when worn, these will not meet the USCG safety minimums when stowed only.

    • @wendellfishing
      @wendellfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Kevin, but your comments on the inflatable vest not being valid unless worn is not entirely true. It depends on the state. For Ohio where I live.. it just has to be USCG approved and doesn't have to be worn. paddlecamp.com/kayak-life-jacket-laws-by-state/#:~:text=Kayak%20life%20jacket%20law%3A%20Anyone,they%20are%20in%20the%20vessel.

      Everyone can’t always afford the top-tier, best gear for everything. It’s okay to find ways to fit hobbies into your budget, even if you’re not able to spend $60 on under-seat tackle storage. It seems like that was the point of the video; you don’t have to be rich to enjoy a sport/hobby.

    Always anchor front or rear. Never off the side. Side anchoring or tying off will capsize you if the water is moving or the wind is blowing. Retractable clothesline is almost always longer than the dog leashes, but usually requires more work to get it setup on a kayak. You can never have enough bungie cords or carabiners. Water in your kayak? lol. It's an SOT, take out the scupper plugs. That's what the holes are for. Sponges and pumps are for touring kayakers ;) Besides, half the point of kayak fishing is getting wet ;) Hey that tow line, you can tie it to a clamp, like you were questioning in your other video, and clamp to a tree, bush, dock, pole, or whatever is available to hold you in place by the bank. Just like with an anchor, do bow or stern, not side.
