    I am another one of those freeroll/penny stakes players who is now finding it MUCH, MUCH EASIER to build up a bankroll on several America-friendly sites, one dollar at a time -- and it is all thanks to the education I've received from Evan and the Gripsed mantra of "Gettin' It Stackin'!!"
    You have made it possible for (I would imagine) hundreds if not thousands of people to pad their meager incomes in this horrible economy through the game of poker. And in my case as a disabled man with a wife who is also sick and loves me dearly, the possibilities over the horizon just leave me in awe.
    Thank you a thousand times, bro, and may your tournament luck continue to excel.

    you want to bet the same size whether bluffing or value betting, but since you should have the goods more often than you have a bluff, overall you'll be gaining value by going with the larger bet size.

    If they will fold second pair to a 2/3 pot and you normally value bet that amount on the river with top pair+ you can add that bluff if you have a good enough read to put them on a weaker holding

    Evan, thank you for sharing your vast poker expertise and real world poker perspective. When you are not stacking and have some time, please do a video on poker game theory and it's use as a strategic tool. Filtering the signal from the noise, please give your observations how game theory can help catapult your game to the highest stacks based on your perspective. Secondly, please go into your theory of bluffing and some advanced level bluff moves new players can add to their tool chest, from timing to proper bet size for bluffing. Keep staying on the leading edge of poker strategy reinforcing the words of Chip Reese, that the best views are always found out on the edge. Bravoo!!!!!, U.S. subscriber.

    Evan love the videos! Another key concept that always helps in picking the perfect bet size is having a solid read on your opponents calling ranges. If you have a nitty opponent that is giving you action you can often assume that he has a stronger hand range and will call a larger river bet. If facing a loose opponent that has a wider range you may want to choose a smaller size for your value bets to get called more often. As always board texture can help a ton in narrowing this range.

    I don't know what limits you are playing but the micros and low stakes it's normally enough to worry about maximising with the best hand then it is to worry about bluffing too often (it still pays in the right spots) so getting that sweet spot on value betting is still much more profitable at the lower limits

  • @narzeg
    @narzeg 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Evan what i do not understand is, and this might sound silly, on elastic ranes if we value bet the maximum we think hes gonna call, how is it ever possible to bluff correctly i the exact same spot? Or is it for balancing purposes

    What confuses me with bet sizing is pricing opponents off draws when we flop what is likely to be the best hand at the moment but we don't know if the opponent flopped a good draw. I may be inclined to bet close to the pot if a draw is possible to price them out, but with no physical tells do I just do this every time there are two connected cards on the flop or 2 to a flush and only 1 opponent? Clearly not. Any suggestions on how to think about these spots?

    I see that this video is mostly geared towards sizing bets to maximize expectation, and I understand why you would want your bluff bet sizing to mimic your vbetting sizing in order to be less readable. That said, I like playing HU where you often have to cbet and double barrel without a strong hand. Due to the higher frequency of 'bluffing' HU, should I still have the same philosophy? I've been wondering about how to size my bets in these situations and how/why I should be varying sizing.

    What is meant by expectation and spaz equity?

    • @gripsed
      @gripsed  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      spaz equity is when people go off an make a random bluff. it's when they tilt and put a lot of money in the pot with a hand they otherwise wouldn't.
      For more info on equity vs expected value check out this article: www.gripsed.com/strategy/equity-vs-expected-value

    Hey Evan. I have really enjoyed your vids. I liked this one in theory but would have preferred some more specific advice for bet sizing certain situations. In particular when trying to induce a call. It took a bit to understand the elastic-inelastic hand ranges. I would prefer phrase like unstuck-stuck hand ranges. Gotta love when the Villain is stuck. Oops, if there is no chance of them folding then any size bet is a bad bluff. It's still gotta be based around the reading of his range. But if you wouldn't bet what you are repping any higher or lower then that's the bet size to make when you don't have it

    Lighting a fire is different to poker. If you don't understand the theory behind why you've seen someone make a certain play then you don't know how to react when the hand doesn't play the same. If people care enough to get into the theory then they are bound to make for a tough game. I played for 4+ years donating my money at the tables before I even cared to look for the info. Also when people release info on almost any subject it's for a financial gain. Knowledge is money in any field.

    If no info was put out whose to say the boom would have even happened. People won't want to play a game with only the elite. I'm sure those elite players thought the big profits in poker where gone as more and more info came out over the years but there's still good money flying about.

    Bet sizing is one of the most important skills of a successful player as it's where you have the most flexibility. These days knowing when to bet isn't enough, you need to know how much to bet and why.

      Another question, won't betting as much as possible whether bluffing or for value vs inelastic calling ranges yield the same outcome? Seeing as how you want your opponent to call when you have the goods and fold to your bluffs, this seems counterproductive. If you're betting the same in either scenario, won't your opponent call in either case, making bluffing inelastic range hands a losing play? I'm probably not understanding something here, what am I missing??

    • @ScientifikX1
      @ScientifikX1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom Smith He is saying you should balance your value bet lines by betting your bluffs the size you would make your value bets instead of the inverse. If you make your bluffs all a different size than your value bets that will be easy to spot. If you make your value bets sized to your optimum bluffing size you lose value on your value betting range which is more than you gain from bluffing an optimal size. Also how often you will bluff this particular player will also be a factor. Say you are playing a bunch of weak tight people that call too much pre and fold all the time post flop you may do the inverse because you are bluffing more and adjust your value bet size to your bluff size. In general however what he suggests is better because you will make more money betting for value than bluffing most of the time.

    YEA......let me tell you something you might not understand.,,The less smart can't innovate but can immitate''.That's the most important sentence in my last post.Just show someone how to make a fire and you will see that many more with learn.The ones who in the past frooze can now make a fire.THE MORONS who got the information out[Brunson first one] rewarded indolence of the mind and began to work harder for what in the past was easier.That philosophy is to hard for the masses to understand.
